Chapter 2 – Murder at Mazzarò Palace

When I stepped out of the elevator, there were no workers at all. The room was filled with police officers, directing people outside to the parking lot. I grabbed a water glass and was directed to the parking lot and told to wait there with around 60 other people, including Isabella.

“Hey! What the heck happened?” I asked Isabella.

“No idea. I just woke up to alarms and flashing lights.” She replied.

As soon as we finished talking, a police detective who looked to be in her early 30s or late 20s, with brown hair and dark brown eyes, came over to us. Her hair almost appeared black in the dark sky, and she started talking to the whole group.

“Buon giorno everybody. My name is Detective Rosè. You are probably wondering why we are here, but I assure you everything is alrigh…”

A text on her phone interrupted her, turning her face from a smile to a sad frown really quickly.

“My boss has just alerted me that I can tell you what really happened,” She said in a dull tone.

“Sometime last night, six people were murdered. We don't know how, why or even who did it, but I assure you we are taking care of everything.”

Right as she finished her sentence, my hands went limp and my glass of water smashed into the black pavement, echoing in everyone's ears.

“For now, everybody should just hang out by the pool or the beach, and we will bring your belongings to you. Sadly, nobody will be allowed inside today, but I assure you everyone will be let inside before dusk to get some rest.”

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Everyone then split into smaller groups that they were probably on the trip with and started heading for the pool.

  “I wonder how that happene…”

I interrupted her with a gasp.

“Sorry, I’m just a bit shaken up because that means a murderer was roaming the halls just last night.”

“It’s ok. This has never happened, but I know the staff and police will find out who did this.” Isabella said reassuringly.

“I know, let’s just go to the pool and chill for the day,” I said calmly.

The day went by pretty quickly, other than the disturbance and the large number of authorities in the morning. By the time it was dark, we were all back in our rooms, a very eventful day. But I still got to have brunch with my new friend. I laid down in my bed and just hoped that the night would go smoothly.

My eyes opened, and my ears had time to adjust. I thought that meant nothing had happened in the night, but as soon as I stepped out of my balcony door, I saw something nobody would wish on their worst enemy.

A person, lying on the ground about 8 stories down, a pool of blood surrounding their body, almost everything around the body was covered in what seemed like blood, and everyone around the body was covered with hazmat suits.

I bolted out of my room and to the elevator, but as soon as I stepped out of my room, there were people in hazmat suits and gloves, going into a room that I’m guessing was where the person fell from, because the door was wrapped in what looked like plastic wrap, but thicker and less clear.

I was directed to the stairs instead of the elevator because I was told that “something bad” happened in there.

Once again, I was directed to the parking lot and was told that nobody could leave the resort or they would be immediately arrested.

  “Why?” I questioned.

“Because last night, eight people were murdered, and we can’t take any chances of anyone escaping, throughout the day, we will take you one by one into the lobby for questioning.”

Everybody's faces turned from faces of confusion to faces of horror. Everyone immediately scattered after hearing the news.

I asked Isabella if she wanted to shop at the stores that they had at the resort and swim at the beach, and she obviously agreed, so all day until around dinnertime, we hung out.
