Ch. 6 Murder

  SINS

  Chapter 6: Murder

“What kind of dumbass are you?” said Hunter coldly.

“The kind you have to always keep your eye on” he said with a smug smirk.

“Hey! Hunter, stop wanting to kill everyone! Henry, stop flirting others to laid them!” Arlo pointed at them with narrowed eyebrows and a red face. Henry jumps at Arlo’s face with a mischievous grin. They both fall onto Hunter’s body dragging him into the shenanigan fight. “Get off me!” “Hey!”

The world was moving slow and the background sound faded into silence in Hiro’s mind. [Just who am I? How would I know if I am from the past!?] He felt hopeless, he feels like anything that would give him a lead would just end up in a dead end. [wait a minute… how do I know what “time” is…?] He thought of a big idea [what if I can remember what I have done in the past, with things I know now?]

Although he was struggling with pronouncing words, he still had common knowledge of what things are. [Why does this sound so easy, but its very hard to do…] He takes the medal with the symbol from his pocket. It was golden and had the design of a bird with its wings spread. It was the same symbol as the one in his shoulder, except his shoulder had the number 735 below it.

Hiro looks at the symbol on his shoulder and with disappointed eyes he sighs.

Hunter’s half upper body crawls out of the bull fight. “Hiro… Get some rest…” he said “if these idiots make too much noise I will deal with them”

Hiro lightly nods and lays down holding tightly the medal with both hands on top of his stomach. He didn’t realized it before, but above him were thousands of white sparkles in the sky. One which traveled fast across the sky. He closes his eyes and falls deep into sleep.

  …

Hiro opened his eyes, a warm ray from the horizon was hitting his face. [What… was that…?] He stood up, his body was sore and weak. |coo-OO-oo-ooo|the sound of a morning dove was in the air, mixed with rustles of leaves and bushes swaying with the morning wind.

  “Hey, you’re awake”

Hunter was leaning on a tree cleaning his rifle near a fire next to him. Hiro looked around, the other two men were gone. “You should go take a bath in the cabin. The others double checked the whole place and there were no signs of those things” Hiro stands up and heads towards the cabin.

He steps into the creaking stairs and opens the wooden door. |Crash| “HAHAHAHA!” There was a mess on the floor, broken objects were everywhere. |Swoosh| |Crash| The culprits, Arlo and Henry were throwing things around. They were both on different side of the room and had barricaded around them with objects forming a wall. They were playing snowball fight but with objects.

Hiro rushes across the room with both paws on his head and up the towards the stairs. He reaches the second floor, leaving behind the sounds of war and enters the shower.

A few minutes pass by and Arlo runs out of things to throw. “ok enough, its time to work” He said as if he was acting like an adult the whole time. He pulls up his pants and they walk out the house leaving Hiro defenseless.

“Hey there Hunty” stated Arlo. Hunter looked back with a stiff expression. “Hey, what you makin’?” Henry butts in with an enthusiasm grin and raised eyebrow. “Worms” replied Hunter with a cold voice. “Ugh can’t you jus’ make somethin’ good for once!?” “Huh!? Then cook for yourself spoiled mutt!” “Huh!? What did you just call me!?”

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

“nngh, there you go again…” Arlo sights and grabs the towel Hunter used to clean his weapon. He was cleaning a small dent at the end of his sword when he heard a noise behind him.

Arlo slowly looks back in terror. He didn’t sense anyone other than the two men arguing. He looks at the direction of the sound. There was white being calmly walking towards them. Its fur was white like snow and had pointy ears. His dark green eyes stared coldly at Arlo. Then suddenly…

“Aa looo” The white being waved at Arlo, his white fur and ears still soaked with water.

Arlo looks at him with a clueless face. “huh….? Who are you???”

The white being put his paw on his chest. “Hiiirooo”

The argument between the two men now shifted to Hiro’s direction. Henry jogged towards Hiro. “Hey… you changed..” His grin was undeniable and a drop of sweat flowed below his cheek as he couldn’t believe the great transformation.

“Where you always white? So then what was that weird stain up your face?” said Henry

“?” Hiro was patting his face with both hands, he didn’t know what they were talking about.

  ----------------------------------------------

Once again, the group set out to walk the vast forest with an unknown destination.

Henry was walking alongside Hiro teaching him how to say the name of the object their eyes meet with. Suddenly, Arlo lifts Hiro up into his shoulders. His face had a mischievous grin and was laughing. “Hey, we should get him new clothes. Wearing all white, especially since we now know he is white. It wouldn’t help him hide.”

Henry shakes his head up and down. “Well… where are we going to get his clothes then?” said Hunter

Arlo pointed at a building, it was tall and its walls looked like it went through hell.

Entering the building they are met with a carved statue saying “торговый центр” The inside was a vast space with rooms left and right. There are broken glass windows in the ceiling. They weren’t the only thing broken, there were cables coming out of ceilings, dark green life growing out of the cracks of the gray walls, dust and debris scattered on the rough texture of the floor and a howl of wind coming from somewhere.

“This place is deserted. There is no way to find anything here”

“We wont know until we look around” answered Arlo with a smile

Hiro looked around with gleaming eyes. The unknown structure possibly abandoned for centuries was standing strong and great. His shocked and amused emotion was clear as day tracing every single corner with his vision.

“First time huh?” Arlo wraps his arm around Hiro’s shoulder. “I remember the first time I came here, It was… cleaner”

They walked for hours. Looking inside the destroyed rooms with ruined merchandise. There were unknown black substances and it smelled like something rotted.

“Well… it’s not so bad once you get used to it.” Henry said as he was poking the substance with a stick.

Hiro had his nose covered as well as Hunter.

They walked for a few minutes until they reached what looked like a food court. “What do you think the people that were here used to do before these monster?” Arlo was on the other side of the counter for a food store opening the cabinets.

“Hmm, maybe they walk over here and make their own food”

“hmmph. That’s stupid, they obviously stood here and opened and closed this box” Said Hunter while opening a cashier box.

“I was gonna say that!” A bright red color emerged from Henry’s cheek.

“Hey! Stop messing around and look at this!” The group entered the room Arlo was alerting from. There were boxes still intact and clean… but the most alarming part was the sign attached to the boxes. A golden bird with its wings spread.

  [ I know that sign…]

Hiro tightens his shoulder. His fist squelching the bird sign on the white fabric of his shirt, and an awe expression reshaping the features of his face.

  ----------------------------------------------

  |Munch Munch| “mmm, mhmm”

“Hey! Don’t eat it all dumbass!” Arlo opened Henry’s mouth and reached out for the chewed food. “Urrghhh!”

[Those boxes… where do they come from…?]

“Hey, you okay?” Hunter snaped his fingers bringing Hiro back to reality. He nods slowly holding the golden metal, tracing the chipped edge with his finger.

“You know, we’re kinda lucky there was food in those boxes. We were starting to run out and eventually we would have started to eat each other. HAHAHA” Arlo laughed as he crossed his arms, holding Henry between his bicep and chest. “Urrghhh!”

“Hennriii…” pleaded Hiro with a look of uncertainty.

Arlo lets go of him, and he immediately went back to devouring the grilled meat like a hungry lion who hadn’t eaten in weeks.

“You should eat something. Worry about that sign later” Hunter handed down a sizzling piece of meat. The grease bubbled as it dripped down onto the edges.

“RAAHMMMM” |Chomp| Henry gobbled down the meat with one bite. Then a giant fist hammered him down onto the table. The hand belonging to the angry bear with red eyes and steam coming out of his nose.

About thirty minutes passed. Arlo was putting out the fire with dirt. Hunter was sitting down, resting while looking at the sky. Henry was knocked out on the table, he had a big bulge in his stomach and was drooling. Lastly, Hiro was sitting down next to him looking at the metal in his hands.

They got up and made their way towards the exit. The day was still young and the sun was directly above them.

As the leader, Arlo was in front of the group. While Hiro was behind with Hunter carrying the passed out Henry.

“Alright! Now lets get out of here before we get ourselves into some trouble” chuckled Arlo with a big grin. But despite his confident statement, trouble came and found them.

  |Shlick!|

Arlo stopped. He stood up motionless, like a shed skin of a snake.

Hunter noticed his weird reaction. “Hey, what’s wrong-” he called out. Then Arlo’s body was dismembered. Parts of his body began to rip apart and fall on the floor with no warning while blood spilled all over the place.

  |SCREEEEEEE-BOOM|

A high pitch screeching rained down from the sky and caused an explosion on the impact. Sending debris and dust everywhere.

Hunter gripped Hiro’s shirt and yanked him away from the explosion.

  Then another descended.

  |SCREEEEEE-BOOM!!!|

This time creating a bigger explosion than the last.

  “UUF!”

Hiro fell with a hard thud and a cracking sound. His back started aching with unbearable pain and an unexplainable soreness grew below the right side of his back.

Hunter emerged from the dusty mist “GET UP!”

Hiro stood up halfway when he was suddenly picked up. “NNGH!” the red being grunted, carrying both men on each side of his shoulder.

“sniff. Huntaa” Sputtered Hiro. “Aaalooo” he wept while he mourned the death of his leader.

“Just let it be!” he responded is a cold tone, but his expression showed concern and immense pressure.

He dropped them both on the ground and leaned on the cracked green pillars. He peeked out at the edge of the pillar and looked at the sky.

“That idiot… I knew we shouldn’t have come here” he said with a sweat drooling down his cheek.

[He got here at a bad time. That angel!]
