Cornered

Dylan looks down and raises his head, jaw clenched, his expression stone-like. Dylan runs off to help another. He joins Blade in the corner, watching Jess.

  Dylan: What do you need?

Blade: Just don't let her escape. I want to talk to Robert.

Dylan: Well, he's-he's hurt. I don't know if that's possible.

Robert jogs up, and appears completely unharmed.

Dylan: Or, thought he was, anyway.

  Blade points to Jess

  Blade: What about her?

Jess: I'll kill you all! I'll kill you!

Blade pulls a blade. Jess roars and bends the blade with her mind, to Blade's apparent surprise. Blade drops it, and charges after Jess. Jess bites her in the arm, and Blade recoils and shouts, but establishes a grip on both of Jess' wrists. Blade pins them down to the floor.

Del seems to be doing okay. Gerry may have wriggled out from under him when he tripped Dylan, but Del's wrestling him down, now.

A Security Guard finally arrives on the scene, and confronts Neri. Neri watches him, fascinated. Not many people have done this to him.

Security Guard: What is this?! Why wasn't there an alarm?!

Neri quickly unsheathes a sword, and lunges for the Security Guard, running him through completely. Neri lifts him by the sword, and slings him off, onto the ground outside. His soul floats upward.

Robert moves closer to Jess. He holds out his hand, and looks into her heart.

GERRY AND JESS' HOUSE, DAYS PRIOR

Two elderly people, both Rogue Angels, sit at home at their breakfast table, drinking.

Gerry: I'm worried, Jess. Three nights ago I felt so safe, I thought Lucky was watching out for us. Now he's... he's asking you to kill?

  Jess nods grimly.

Jess: I can't refuse. It's Lucky, you know. I'm not suited for this. I don't know how to bring down an Angel.

Gerry: You don't have to. I'll help you every step of the way.

Jess puts her hand on Gerry's.

Jess: Thank you so much, Gerry.

INT. COURTHOUSE OF THE OTHER REALM

In a bright, clean room, Dylan and Robert sit on benches. Dylan sits happily, while Robert has his hand over his forehead, resting his elbow on his desk. We hear the one named Lucky (9lp) speak, but we do not see them.

Lucky: Robert and Dylan. Long have you been some of my best judges. One could always come to you for honest, unbiased advice. The best judges of character, or moral worth, were you two. What has changed? How can so many from both sides simply disappear from our realms?

Dylan: Well, here's the thing. I told Robert here, that this little plan would have just resulted in the disloyal guys getting banished.

Lucky: For what purpose did you banish them?

Dylan: You know, I just thought, they wouldn't be able to cause any more damage if they were made mortal.

Lucky: How did you know they would become mortal?

Dylan is caught in a lie.

Dylan: Oh, I just assumed, you know. And-and I didn't know it would happen on our side, too. That was a big mistake on my part.

Lucky: Correct... Are you prepared to receive your sentence?

  Dylan: Not really, but shoot.

Robert: Oh, I wish you hadn't have said that.

BOOM! BOOM! Two gunshots ring out. Dylan and Robert fall over. Their souls pass through the ground, heading down to Earth. Their awful penalty.

  INT. BANK

Robert: Who- Who was that I was just watching through? It was just me, Dylan, and Lucky in there. No-one else should've been allowed to see it.

Dylan: Beats me. I thought it was that way, also.

Robert: Well, we need to do something about these two. They're too much trouble to take in. We've gotta kill them.

Gerry calls out, and sobs deeply.

  Gerry: No! Not my Jess...

  Blade looks saddened by this.

Jess: They won't do a thing to us, Gerry! It's alright!

Dylan: You know, you probably shouldn't piss us off when you're at our mercy.

Gerry: Dylan, please, it's the only option she has! Lucky himself sent her.

  Dylan steps back a little.

  Blade: Who's Lucky?

  Del: One of the... bosses.

They are interrupted. It seems like the entire police station is outside. One of them speaks over a megaphone. Dylan is the first to move slowly toward the door leading outside.

Police Officer 2: Robert and associates! We've got you cornered! Step out and keep your filthy hands up.

Dylan looks at Robert. Robert nods. Dylan moves carefully for the door.
