Vegis got up later in the day than usual since it was the start of the work week for him. He used the panel while standing in the kitchen to send a command to open the pods in the northeast dorm and told the Clones to move to the east wall. Vegis was informed yesterday that he was on check up duty on the wall. This essentially means that he would walk around the wall, checking on the guards, machines, cameras, etc, to see if they are in good condition and bringing the guards food and/or drinks whilst cleaning any mess. It's basically being a janitor and waiter. The reason why they used humans instead of bots is that they suck when it comes to interacting with unexpected events and humans have an easier time seeing through things that are disguising than the bots. This doesn’t mean there aren’t bots, it’s just that they are only good for cleaning and not analyzing.
Vegis is now stuck staying near the other 2 but has spent the last 2 days improving his remote control over the clones and sense sharing. Their improved independence made it a little difficult but it made them be able to point out any problems by themselves instead of relying on Vegis. In a month, Vegis plans to get tested to get more clones but also didn’t know if he could get anymore. Having fucked up biology, heavy augmentation, and strange mana flow that would kill a human made cloning a difficult prospect.
Small footsteps could be heard coming out of the master bedroom and Vegis saw Boreal walking out. This was a name Vegis came up with for the child since Drake and Doel weren’t nearby for suggestions. It walked over and pulled at the leg of his pants while pointing at the fridge. Vegis rolled his eyes at this and opened the fridge to grab what it wanted. A small juice pouch that seemed to have no label. It had a clear underside that allowed one to see the color of the liquid which was a neon blue. Boreal grabbed it out of Vegis’s hand and walked over to the couch to drink it. The kid didn’t seem to know how to talk yet but had a vague understanding of human language after being awakened by Vegis. When it drank the liquid through a straw, more leaves started to sprout from its “hair”.
The fridge in the room was packed with the special dietary items the 3 of them needed. Metal pills, strange gummies, many types of special drinks, and other things for them to stay healthy. Most of these were surplus of the things Drake and Doel needed. Vegis loved the fact he could use the LSN

The northeast corner was relatively empty while the southeast corner was packed with people. The east hub was a normal amount of folks but they held much stronger weapons. This was because the trash was stored near there and more animals will come to this part of the wall. This led to more mutant attacks as well so they compensated by giving this area stronger weapons. The animals in the area stopped having an aversion to humans so attacks have been rising. Vegis could see the haze through the clones’ eyes, but it was much less visible to him this way. It was like comparing being in a cloud to the light mist of a cold morning. This ability has allowed him to see when someone is coming even if they are invisible. It did get annoying since it obscured his line of sight if they got far away but Vegis learned that he could turn the ability off if he focused.
The first shift was very unremarkable. It seems like Vegis started on a quiet day since there weren’t any animals coming near the walls. There were some false alarms about larger things getting near but it seemed to be due to equipment malfunctioning. Through the haze, Vegis noticed a large amount of movement through it, but he couldn’t if it was a natural thing for the area or something large moving. Vegis spent most of the time in the office to focus but Mitra and Boreal would occasionally peek inside to see if he needed anything. Boreal still hasn’t gone verbal and probably won’t for a while but Mitra managed to tune her voice to the point where she now sounds like a single individual.
The next four days went the same with little variations like the guards wanting different treats, number of animals, and it became more cloudy as the days passed. Even though it was now fairly cloudy, it still felt very and the humidity was rising. In between shifts, Vegis would go to the cafeteria to eat and talk to Jess, Mac, and the others. They asked for where he was staying since they only saw his clones at the dorm. Vegis only said that his situation was a tad strange and that they shouldn’t worry about him. Vegis spent some time teaching his roommates several types of games, mostly cards and board games. Something Vegis noticed was that Boreal seemed to have the same properties as Mitra when it came to the haze. It actively avoided them in a sphere around them, though Vegis does not know if it had the ability to interact with the haze with some strange ability it has like Mitra’s wings.
Vegis spent most of the off time he had between his work days just hanging around the others. He could only take Mitra around the place since Boreal hadn’t been able to disguise themself yet. The more Vegis interacted with Boeral, the more he felt the connection between them grow. Vegis started to be able to hear the thoughts of Boreal. He couldn’t do this all the time with Mitra because she was able to block him but Boreal was still too young and inexperienced to figure it out yet.
