Chapter 27: Lunar Rabbit strikes again and Aura

Chapter 27: Lunar Rabbit strikes again and Aura3rd Person Pov

After everyone stares at Ptlo Deecvi, finally, someone feels compelled to expin.

"Lunar Rabbit is the name of a really famous adventurer," he starts.

"But if she is so famous, then why does she need to register?" Ptlo Deecvi interrupts.

"I was just about to tell you. Lunar Rabbit never stays in one city for too long. Therefore, ever since her debut two years ago, she has never achieved C-Rank, meaning she must reregister in every city she visits."

"And how are you sure that she is not a fraud taking the name of Lunar Rabbit? Look at her age! She isn't old enough to become famous."

"Her age is exactly one reason why we think it's her. Aside from that, Lunar Rabbit is said to wear a blindfold and yet always be able to find her way. Finally, they say she is accompanied by a dy with vertical slits in her eyes."

"And what did she do to become so famous?"

"Well, for one, she has stopped a demon wolf tide in Bruk. The city lord himself attested that if not for her, the city would have been doomed. Then, she is the origin of those orphanages popping up everywhere. The lord of Bruk, after she departed, shared the idea with the lords of the surrounding cities, not ciming credit himself, and they allegedly found it good and implemented it themselves.

"But what really made her famous is how, in every city she visits, she hunts with the speed of an A-Rank, while wearing casual clothing and using a wooden sword."

"She is so formidable?! Then how come this information was transmitted so quickly?"

"She was featured in the national newspaper. This massive newspaper agency, which distributes its papers to every city in the nation once a month, has written an article about her in both newspapers."

  "What?!"

While Ptlo learns about Luna, she has already finished registering and left the guild.

Zurk is a city I honestly don't remember from the game. Of course, it is possible that Zurk was deemed too insignificant by the goddesses or that they didn't want to expand the game anymore, to lower the filesize and therefore increase the number of pyers. But what really stumps me is that it wasn't even shown on the map. No. On the map, this area was a desert region, nothing like the forest in which Zurk is located.

Therefore, I have reason to believe that something happened here which destroyed the city in the game before the cannon. So I wanted to try to find out which tent threat is here. I would have come here earlier, but I decided to wait until I activated my longevity spell so as not to be able to steamroll everything here.

I have another objective in coming here. Awakening Aura. From what I know, awakening Aura requires one to completely immerse oneself in their combat technique, be it sword, spear, fist, scissors, middle finger or any other weapon.

Then an illusory gate will appear in your mind. Pushing your mental power through this gate will cause it to take on the characteristics of your weapon and technique and become Aura.

A fast sword technique will cause the Aura to be fast and sharp. An imposing spear technique will cause the Aura to be imposing and piercing. Middle finger Aura will be able to provoke anyone.

Well, now it is time to visit the dungeon. But first, since I won't use magic in any way to fight in the dungeon, I will need an actual sword. I won't use magic to concentrate fully on my sword technique. That way, it should be easier to awaken Aura.

I wander through the city, not asking a passerby for directions because I want to explore it. Gninthgil, the dragon, has already left to wander off on her own. She doesn't care much for adventuring activities. According to her, fighting against weaklings is just a waste of time. Instead, she likes exploring the cities we visit.

When I suggested to her to restrict her abilities, fighting with minimal strength, she looked at me and asked me, what kind of lunatic would do that. Talk about a blow straight at my weak spot. After that, I insisted that, since she would not fight against weaklings, she could fight with me. I think she developed a psychological shadow through that battle. I wonder why. All I did was test some illusion magic on her. I just made it seem like everyone in her family was suddenly wearing monocles while behaving slightly weird.

Well, she fears me now, so it seems like this illusion magic is more powerful than I realised. If I find a suitable target, I will try it on them.

Anyway, I respect my mount's wishes, so I don't force her to adventure with me.

As I am pondering, I see a smithy. I enter and look around. I have absolutely no way to judge the quality of a sword without magic, so I approach the cngs in the back of the smithy. As I do, I wonder how the smith guards against thieves. I assume that either there is some kind of magic that activates when a theft happens, or he wants everyone to assume that such magic exists. I could investigate with magic, but I wanted to rely less on it, so I don't.

When I enter the back compartment of the smithy, I see a two-meter-tall, nky guy wielding a smithing hammer that seems to weigh way more than he should be able to wield with such ease and striking a sword on an anvil over and over again. Quietly, I observe, being sure that he noticed me the moment I entered the shop.

The fact that he can so easily swing that hammer despite his nky frame suggests that he can use either magic or Aura. Both have ways of sensing the surroundings. It would also expin how he guards against thieves. Soon, he stops hammering and turns toward me.

"What does a young dy like you require of me?" a soft voice asks in a weirdly eloquent way.

"I would like a sword that fits my size, sharp enough to be used in the dungeons in this city," I answer.

"Is a young dy such as you capable of wielding swords?" he questions me.

"I am very well capable of wielding swords," I answer, unangered by his comment.

"In that case, would the young dy be so kind as to provide a demonstration? A sword for such purposes would be standing on the young dy's right."

  "Of course."

I turn to my right, quickly noticing the various swords. They are ordered by size, so I quickly find the one that fits my size and pull it out of its sheath. Unlike real swords, this one has no sharp edge. Even if I let it fall, and it falls onto my foot, all I would get is pain and no serious injury.

Then, I begin swinging it. I have no specific sword dance. Instead, I connect the various basic swings naturally when fighting. Dad told me that that is preparation for a ter stage of Aura. He apparently didn't learn anything more from his teacher.

"Indeed. Such impressive swordsmanship certainly demonstrates the young dy's prowess. I would be inclined to sell a sword to such a swordsman. Would the young swordsman be so kind as to rest in the front room, while I prepare one of my products?"

  "Of course."

I turn around and enter the front room, finding a chair to sit on. Then I wait.

Once upon a time, there was a man who loudly procimed that the world, as it was, was perfect. Others sought to refute him.

The first told him about families suffering because of fathers dying in war. He told him of child bor and life in developing countries. But he just answered that he did not see those fathers dying and that he did not see those children working.

The second told him about the terrible progression of climate change, and how, in a few more years, it could become unstoppable and cause terrible floods. But he just answered that the temperature was comfortable and that he saw no floods.

The third did not waste words with him. He beat him up directly in an alley. Enraged, the man tried to bring the matter before the w, but it was shelved due to insufficient evidence. Ever since then, the man never again procimed the world to be perfect.
