In a spacious boratory at the Watchtower, the low hum of machinery filled the air, and a cold blue light cast a solemn glow over the entire space.
Batman stood before a massive holographic control panel, the edges of his bck suit swaying slightly in the airflow, and his sharp eyes were fixed intently on the constantly shifting molecur model on the screen.
It was the result of several days of detailed calcutions, reconstructing the microscopic structure of the Viltrumite cell. He lightly tapped on the control panel, and the screen instantly split into two sets of comparative information.
On one side was the energy flow trajectory of Superman's cells under the yellow sun's radiation, followed by the distribution pattern of magic particles in Shazam's cells.
They exhibited characteristics of "external energy enhancement," with a clear and traceable energy trajectory. On the other side, the Viltrumite cell model was entirely different.
A pale golden energy spread from the core of the cell outward, shifting between light and dark, like breathing. There was no external energy influence, and the power came from inside the cell itself.
"It is the entity itself that provides the superpowers, not like Superman or Shazam who get their powers from external energy."
Batman's voice was low and hoarse with a serious tone.
After several days of analyzing blood samples obtained from Viktor, using a high-powered particle analyzer, he finally detected the unusually active microscopic particles deep within the cells.
These particles were unlike any known atomic structure, possessing strong autonomy, capable of self-repairing cellur damage, carrying explosive energy, and even optimizing themselves during cell division.
He raised his hand and input commands on the control panel, naming these unknown particles "Viltrumite Atoms" and saving them in his private encrypted database.
Next, a report popped up on the screen, and red warning symbols filled most of the page. Out of a hundred eighteen known elements on Earth, only three could affect the Viltrumite's atoms in any noticeable way.
However, these three elements could only be synthesized in tiny amounts in the extremely high-temperature and high-pressure environment of a particle collider, and their decay period was less than a second, making mass production and practical use virtually impossible.
Batman frowned deeply and swiped through the "Cosmic Elements" search on the screen. Since Earth's elements were ineffective, the answer could only be found in the vastness of the universe.
He immediately activated the encrypted communication and contacted Green Lantern, who had just returned to Earth after a cosmic mission. His tone was firm and left no room for argument.
"Head to the Watchtower immediately. There's an urgent experiment that requires your help."
After half an hour, the sound of footsteps could be heard at the entrance of the Watchtower.
Hal Jordan, wearing his Green Lantern suit, spun his Green Lantern ring on his finger, stepped into the space station, and couldn't help but be impressed.
"Whoa! This pce is way cooler than the Justice Hall in Washington! If I'd known you had such an awesome pce, I wouldn't have to put up with all the nagging at the UN meetings every time."
As he looked around at the technological facilities, Green Lantern quickly walked toward the area where Batman was working.
"What's up? You need me to use the ring to simute some monster's energy fluctuations again?"
However, before Hal could finish his sentence, Batman suddenly raised his hand to signal him to stop, and his sharp eyes shot toward a special gss room in the corner of the b.
Inside, the purified Viltrumite atom sample was stored.
The once-stable pale golden particles were now agitated, swirling violently within the container, almost as if they were going to break through the energy barrier.
"Don't move."
Batman's tone instantly turned cold, and his mind raced as a bold hypothesis formed in his mind.
He stared at the agitated atoms, then gnced at the Green Lantern ring on his hand and said in a low voice, "You walk toward the room very slowly, but do not activate the ring's energy and keep a steady pace."
Green Lantern looked really confused, but followed the instructions and slowed his steps.
As he drew closer to the observation room, the agitation of the Viltrumite Atoms started to react more wildly, and the energy barrier around the container began to ripple.
When he was about three meters away from the observation room, Batman suddenly issued the command.
"Activate the ring, release green light energy at different frequencies, starting with the lowest frequency, increasing by ten percent with each release, and start recording the atomic reactions."
"What is this about? This thing is even more sensitive than the Green Lantern Corps' energy detector."
Green Lantern muttered a compint but still concentrated, his fingertip making a slight motion as the pale green energy slowly spilled from the ring, adjusting to the frequencies as Batman had instructed.
Initially, the atoms just started spinning faster and faster inside the container.
As the frequency of the green light increased, the particles suddenly began to cluster together. The originally scattered pale golden light points gradually began to combine into more stable energy crystals, with the energy fluctuations rising dramatically.
The data on the holographic screen updated rapidly, and Batman's expression grew increasingly solemn.
Under the influence of the green light, the atoms were undergoing structural evolution at an astonishing speed, with their cell capacity and energy conversion rate increasing several times over.
Furthermore, this rate of evolution was continuously accelerating.
"Emotional willpower energy..."
He murmured softly, reaching a shocking conclusion.
"The Viltrumite's Atoms can be influenced by the emotions and will of the subject, allowing them to make an abnormal power jump in combat power. The physical data we've recorded is completely unreliable during significant emotional fluctuations of the host."
He turned to Green Lantern, his tone more serious than ever.
"If the owner of these particles gets their hands on any one of the Emotional Lantern Rings, their abilities will grow exponentially, and they could even surpass any superhuman abilities we know."
The pyful expression on Green Lantern's face slowly faded, repced by a hint of skepticism.
He was all too familiar with the power of the Lantern Rings, and if any being could use that kind of power, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Green Lantern wanted to ask a few more questions, but Batman interrupted him immediately. He raised his hand and activated the Watchtower's teleportation device.
"Come with me, we need to go to the secret b in Gotham. We have to confirm this further."
As the teleportation beam enveloped the two of them, Batman solemnly looked straight at Green Lantern.
"Do not meet with Viktor until I can confirm he's retively harmless, and absolutely do not let your Green Lantern ring get near him, understand?"
"Don't worry, I don't want to mess with some alien kid who can be empowered by Green Lantern energy."
Green Lantern shrugged, but his tone clearly didn't take the situation seriously. However, as soon as the two arrived at Gotham's secret b, an arm suddenly popped up on the control panel's monitor.
On the screen, a bck-haired young man appeared on the streets of Gotham. It was Viktor who had just parted ways with Superman.
Right now, Viktor was frowning and rubbing his arm, clearly uncomfortable.
This was his second time stepping into Gotham, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. A strange itch was spreading from his bones, traveling through his blood to the rest of his body.
The more he walked in a certain direction, the stronger the itch became, as though something inside him was awakening, eager to resonate with the external energy.
However, what he didn't know was that the force pulling him was coming from the Green Lantern ring on Green Lantern's hand.
In the surveilnce footage, Viktor's steps were getting closer to the secret b.
Meanwhile, Green Lantern had clenched his fists, and the Green Lantern ring began to glow faintly as a look of curiosity fshed in his eyes.
Hal instinctively felt drawn to the powerful resonance of energy and was itching to step forward and test it out immediately.
"Don't move."
Batman suddenly grabbed Hal and shoved him hard against the wall. He pressed his arm firmly on Hal's shoulder so he couldn't go anywhere.
"I'll say it again—do not approach him, or the consequences will be unimaginable."
As he restrained the restless Green Lantern, Batman quickly activated an encrypted channel and spoke into his earpiece in a low voice.
"Who's near Gotham? I can't leave here right now."
"I'm at the Gotham docks investigating st week's smuggling case."
Nightwing's voice soon came through the earpiece.
"What's going on, Batman? Run into some trouble again?"
Batman didn't offer any further expnations. He quickly transmitted some basic information about Viktor to Nightwing and simply said, "Help him find someone, and don't let him get close to my location for now."
After ending the communication, Batman turned his attention back to Green Lantern.
Perhaps it was rare for Green Lantern to see Batman so serious about something, Green Lantern finally gave up on his curiosity.
He raised his hands to show he wouldn't act recklessly.
"Alright, alright, stop staring at me like that, you're giving me goosebumps."
...
Meanwhile, Nightwing was looking at the information he received on his terminal with raised eyebrows.
A fourteen-year-old alien boy, a Viltrumite... suspected of being hunted by his home pnet.
"An alien refugee at such a young age?"
He raised an eyebrow, and the tragic memory of second-generation Robin's death two and a half years ago fshed in his mind.
Over the past two years, Batman become much darker and more violent, often beating up petty criminals so badly they wouldn't even recognize their own mothers.
Nightwing, who had originally left Gotham and was working solo in a nearby city, came back every now and then. He was worried that Batman's anger and isotion would lead to something even worse, and he kept a close eye on him.
"Could it be... that Batman is looking for a new Robin?"
After thinking for a while, Nightwing decided to investigate in person.
He gave up on staying undercover, jumped onto the motorcycle parked by the side of the road, and sped off toward Viktor's location.
A few minutes ter, Viktor frowned as he watched a motorcycle rider perform a fshy drift and block his path.
The rider removed his helmet, tossing his hair that had been fttened by it.
"Dick, Dick Grayson. I heard you're looking for someone in Gotham?"
Before Viktor could respond, it took him about two seconds to finally recall the prince of the Bat-Family.
'Huh?'
'Batman is that thoughtful?'
"You know I'm looking for someone? So, Batman sent you?"
After hearing him say that, Dick was immediately even more certain of his suspicions.
"Well, of course, you're lucky! I'm a private detective, and I grew up here in Gotham!
