Chapter 43: The Battle Of Legends
The wind tore past Sia’s head as she clung to Shae’s back, the Sky Form Shaymin's fur rippling like a living sail. Below them stretched the remnants of Stormspire Prison, once the prison that contained Zuko the Storm menace, now jagged ruins smoldering with ash, electricity and heat. The earth around it had fractured into floating shards, lifted and twisted unnaturally, caught in the invisible currents of the warring Domains of the two lesser Legendaries fighting close by
The memory of her sudden departure from Newleaf Village lingered in Sia’s mind like the echo of a distant thunderclap. She would've loved to speak more with Auri and Yuki, who where apparently her reincarnated mentors or something? It was a weird thought, something she hadn't yet dove into. She lacked the time for that. No, she had vanished near-instantly in her search for Shae, worried what would happen to the other Mythicals if she didn't hurry.
For a Mythical like her finding Shae had not beenall that difficult. The Shaymin had been elusive, sure, but also predictable. Especially after knowing her for decades it was almost easy to find out where she would be. Sia had approached cautiously, speaking in words of reason and urgency, and, after a tense moment, Shae had agreed. She would fly with Sia, lending her speed and strength in an effort to stop Zuko until Lord Noctem finally awakened.
Before leaving though, Sia had ensured Myra understood her instructions clearly. She had to keep Auri and Yuki safe, no matter the cost! They were still weak in the greater scheme of things, unable to truly put up a fight sould it become necessary. Myra had luckily agreed because even though she was the a Mythical, that didn't necessarily give her the authority to order around the guards of Newleaf Village living in Vian's territory.
Still, she focused back on the battlefield down below, which was the more important thing right now. The scale of destruction was truly staggering, forests flattened into splintered smoking heaps, rivers boiled in furious sheets of vapor, and mountains had fractured into jagged spires that pierced the clouds. Floating shards of earth drifted unnaturally, trapped in the violent currents whipped up by the opposing Domains. The storm above wasn’t merely atmospheric, it was a battlefield unto itself, charged with energies that defied the normal laws of nature.
At the center of the chaos, Zuko and Miu held their ground. Zuko, a whirling beacon of storm and electricity, moved like a force of nature incarnate. Each step seemed to summon lightning from the sky, the air around him crackling with potential energy, every gust and arc bending to his will. Miu hovered near him, a sly and fluid presence, her movements precise yet unpredictable. Their combined strength had already carved a wide swath through the terrain, leaving devastation in their wake.
Across from them, Velari, Vian, and Nayru pressed forward, standing as the last line against this catastrophic surge. Velari’s [Radiant Aegis] radiated crystalline brilliance across the fractured ground. Within the Domain, even the air seemed to slow, each particle resonating in harmonic alignment. Attacks from Zuko’s lightning and wind tore against this lattice of ordered light, splintering in fragments that refracted and scattered, weakening their force before they could strike. Nayru’s presence lent fluid support, her water-imbued strikes weaving with precision to control space and defend openings, while Vian’s calculated bursts of fire and psychic force harried Zuko from angles the Lesser Legendary could not anticipate.
Despite their formidable coordination, the battle hung in a precarious balance. The raw, unrelenting chaos and power of Zuko’s own Domain, the [Stormforge Sovereignty], pressed against Velari’s crystalline order. Lightning split the ground, winds tore through the remnants of shattered stone, and the very terrain seemed to twist and resist under the weight of the Domains’ struggle. From above, it was a tapestry of destruction, every inch a potential trap, every movement a lethal gamble.
Sia’s eyes swept over it all, taking stock. This was a war between forces that bent reality itself, and their arrival could either tip the scales or be swallowed by the storm. All the while Shae was carrying them closer to the epicenter where their intervention would finally enter the fray.
She uncounciously tightened her grip on Shae’s shoulders. Her gaze swept over the battlefield one last time, committing every detail to memory. "Are you ready for this?" she asked Shae, her voice low but steady, carrying the weight of urgency.
Shae’s eyes, sharp and unwavering, met hers. "I’ve trained for moments like this. It was known to everyone that one day a fight would break out in the Umbral Abyss due to Lord Noctem sleeping and the Mythicals fighting each other constantly. I may not have expected it to be Zuko that will force us to band together in a fight, but it doesn't change anything except for the fact that it raises the stakes. Let’s show them what we can do together."
Sia gave a brief, deliberate nod. No further words were necessary, their alignment was implicit. For now they could trust each other for neither of them wanted to see the Storm Menace rise to power again. Well, everyone except Miu apparently.
Even as they closed the distance, Sia’s mind ran through calculations, rapid and precise. At the center, Zuko continuously dominated the battlefield alongside Miu. Against them stood Velari, Vian, Nayru. Soon herself and Shae as well. The odds were fierce, but not insurmountable. Their allies were bruised and somewhat exhausted, battered by the overwhelming power that had already reshaped the terrain, yet they held out. Every second of cohesion counted, for it brought them closer to Lord Noctem awakening, the only one that could probably put a stop to this battle.
Sia noted the subtle gaps in Zuko’s control, the way his lightning arcs occasionally overreached, leaving him vulnerable for a heartbeat. A century of isolation without any training had left their mark on him it seemed. Velari’s [Light Screen] and [Reflect] both softened and refracted attacks in predictable patterns that, with the right timing, could be exploited. Nayru’s bursts of [Hydro Pump] and [Waterfall], together with Vian’s [Flmaethrower], [Shadow Ball], and occasional [V-Create] formed a dynamic net of pressure that pinned Zuko while Miu maneuvered at the edges.
Her own role in the upcoming fight was clear. She would be there for disruption, using her ghost-type energy to strike fast, strike smart, and create openings where the others could press advantage. She would weave between lightning and crystal, landing blows that were precise rather than flashy, nudging the battle in favor of the united front. Every decision, every movement, had to be in concert with theirs, holding the line together. Shae meanwhile would probably support Vian in his head-on approach, as together with Miu they were the only three Mythicals that were strong enough to actually affect the outcome of that battle. Compared to them, she and Nayru were little more than pessky distractions.
A sudden flicker of movement caught Sia’s eye as she and Shae only a few moments later finally descended onto the battlefield. Vian hovered a short distance ahead, wings splayed, chest rising and falling from the exertion of previous bursts. Even winded, his presence radiated calm authority, a steady center amid the chaos below.
"I see you managed to find Shae. Good," Vian called, his voice carrying over the howling winds and crackle of lightning. "Don’t hesitate, Zuko won’t wait or show mercy, The smallest mistake can be your end here. Play it safe. Please."
Sia offered nothing but a short, deliberate nod, her focus unwavering. Words were unnecessary. Her intent was clear, and Vian’s eyes reflected the same understanding.
Shae beneath her angled into a controlled descent, cutting through the turbulence with ease. Even as they approached, the aura of Vian’s confidence anchored Sia. Her mentor and friend had clearly been a stabilizing presence throughout the battle, and now his quiet acknowledgment served as both reassurance and a subtle warning. The fight ahead wouldn't be swift, but all the more merciless. It would be a war of attrition until something tripped the scales in one direction significantly.
With a glance at Shae, Sia readied herself, knowing that this would be a hard-fought battle. Vian’s brief intervention had reminded her of the stakes without distracting from the task at hand. Together, they would enter the fray and the storm, no matter how violent, would not deter them.
Velari’s [Radiant Aegis] pulsed once more, crystal lattice pulsing in response to the sudden surge of power approaching from above, scattering stray lightning arcs and slowing the cascading wind currents around them. Nayru pivoted mid-flight, sending out an [Aqua Ring] to shield her allies, while Vian adjusted his trajectory, banking sharply to intercept any projectile or stray bolt that might reach Sia or Shae while they still set up their support moves like [Agility], [Bulk Up] and [Calm Mind]. In Shae's case it was [Growth] and [Psych Up]. Entering the battle without their own type-energy properly boosting them would be suicide.
Once she was done, Sia dropped like a shadow through the sky, folding herself into a controlled dive. By the time her feet touched the splintered ground, she was already calculating her first moves. Zuko, ever composed, had noticed her descent already. His eyes, glinting with controlled electricity, followed the pair as they fell, assessing their speed and intent. "So you didn't run after all. You only called for reinforcements," he said, voice calm and clipped, carrying a precision that cut through the roar of wind and shattering stone. "It won't make a difference."

Shae’s landing beside Sia was lighter than a whisper, her paws barely touching the shattered stone before she vaulted back into the air with a [Quich Attack]. [Magical Leaf] cut through the haze of debris, spinning with precision to deflect incoming lightning arcs while [Air Slash] scythed toward small pockets of vulnerability in Zuko’s storm. She moved with uncanny grace, her speed and precision enough to make a lesser opponent falter, but Zuko’s form remained steady, repelling the attacks easily with a single [Discharge].
Sia started to move as well. [Phantom Force] carried her forward in an instant, letting her vanish into the smoke and debris and reappear behind Zuko, fists drawn into a [Fire Punch] while a seperate [Shadow Claw] tore at the residual [Quick Guard] lingering over his fur. A [Protect] flashed and her [Fire Punch was intercepted as well, before she got hit by a [Throat Chop], catapulting her away from the Storm Menace. She barely managed a [Protect] in time to block the attack, but even that nearly broke under the pressure.
Velari, their own Lesser Legendary, luckily wasn't idle. The battlefield trembled under the collision of Domains. A [Diamond Storm] shot out of her, the attack heading straight for Zuko, whose eyes widened in recognition of an actual danger. With a [Volt Switch] he evaded the attack, practically teleporting in front of Vian. He spun with effortless grace, unleashing [Plasma Fists] at the Victini. Vian however had expected the attack, his own [U-Turn] instantly carrying him away from the danger, while Zuko's [Plasma Fists] only tore through his [Protect] and one of Velari's [Light Screens].
Sia mwanwhile ducked under a stray [Thunderbolt], feeling the heat of the electricity singe past her shoulder. With a blur, she launched into another [Phantom Force], vanishing and reappearing behind Miu, who had started to harass Shae with [Aura Spheres], [Ancient Power], [Electro Balls] and even [Gunk Shots], forcing the poor Shaymin entirely into the defense.
Sia's [Shadow Punch] landed solidly against Miu’s flank, the very effective move sending her twisting through the air and disrupting her barrage of attacks. Shae responded immediately, spinning into an [Air Cutter] as Miu corrected mid-flight, breaking the hold and giving Sia room to pivot back towards the Storm Menace while Shae turned the tables on Miu.
Zuko, composed as ever, adjusted. His next movement was a sweeping [Discharge], followed by a [Electric Terrain]. Abusing his ability to the maximum, Zuko used the electric-type enegy now surrounding Sia to keep her in place as he rushed forward with a [Quick Attack], evading a [V-Create] fro, Vian and a [Flash Cannon] from Velari in the process.
The [Quick Attack] easily phased through Sia without doing any damage, but Zuko already had a [Blaze Kick] at the ready and it was to late to evade! Instead, Sia reacted instinctively and absorbed part of the impact, using [Counter] to redirect his energy outward, but the effort cost her a fraction of movement time, enough for another pair of [Plasma Fists] from Zuko to nearly hit her. At the very last moment Shae managed to interpose with a sharp [Leech Seed] launch, rooting Zuko to ground momentarily and giving Sia enough time to escape with another [Phantom Force]. Still, the [Leech Seed] burned apart in Zuko's Domain only moments later, as he blocked another [Diamond Storm] and [V-Create] from Velari and Vian head-on using a mix of [Protect] and [Quick Guard]. He still took some damage through the attack.
Velari’s presence at the edge of the battlefield became more pronounced. Her Domain stretched outward in radiant lattices, refracting attacks aimed at the frontline, while simultaneously accelerating the recovery of allies within its reach. With Zuko occupied, she was also activelyworking with Nayru on surpressing Miu, the Mythical clearly overwhelmed by the power of the Lesser Legendary in front of her.
The tide of momentum began to turn, subtly at first. Zuko’s attacks remained precise, but now he had to allocate attention to multiple fronts, even involving himself to safe Miu from danger on multiple occasions, taking damage himself in the process. Each of his moves was countered by deliberate actions from the united Mythicals. The synergy was palpable, whenever one of them was pushed back, someone else was there to force the Storm menace into a retreat.
Zuko’s eyes flicked briefly to Sia and Shae. His lips curved slightly, not in anger, but in acknowledgment. "So, this is how it begins, the first true challange to my glorious return," he murmured, the faintest edge of challenge in his tone. "Very well. I will not falter."
As he spoke, his [Stormforge Sovereignty] pulsed once and a [Thunder] surged in controlled arcs, striking forward with the precision of a sculptor chiseling stone. Sia rolled under the strike, [Shadow Claw] and [Shadow Sneak]] igniting in rapid succession, which he disturbed with another [Discharge] that also dispersed a [Searing Shot] from Vian at the same time.
Zuko unleashed a [Swift] at Vian, but Shae’s [Air Slash] intercepted the attack, dispersing it easily. Nayru meanwhile barely kept Miu in check, escaping with [Flip Turn] whenever it got too dangerous for her, leaving Velari to split her attention between Miu and Zuko.
The battlefield was alive with motion. Smoke and energy swirled into ribbons, shattered crystal shards spun through the air, water vapor condensed and flashed into lightning, and wind whirled in irregular eddies. Every attack and counter forced Zuko to adapt, but the Lesser Legendary remained formidable, each strike an elegant blend of strategy and raw force. He was still superior individually, but the combined pressure of multiple Mythicals began to create tiny creases in his rhythm, subtle openings that could, if exploited correctly, tilt the scale of battle. At lest that was Sia's hope.
She noted each small shift, fraction of time Zuko’s shoulder lagged after a lightning strike due to a previous hit he took, the way Shae’s [Leaf Storm] altered airflow, the pulse of Velari’s Domain bending kinetic force around them whenever it managed to push Zuko's overwhelming Domain back for a moment. Her mind raced with calculations. [Phantom Force] to flank, [Close Combat] to force reaction, [Shadow Claw] to exploit openings, and [Shadow Sneak] to distract. From time to time she threw in a [Shadow Ball] or an [Aura Sphere] as well for coverage. Every move was a spark in the larger mosaic of the assault, each strike meant to coordinate with others, not to overwhelm alone. As a team they were more than willing to waste a dozen moves to land a single hit on the [Storm Menace], for in the end they were the ones able to keep that up longer. They had the numbers going for them and amount of type energy available going for them, even if they couldn't compete with Zuko's pure power.
Shae twisted through the air, launching [Petal Blizzard] at intervals, then pivoting to strike with [Air Cutter] at Zuko’s midline, forcing him to anticipate two threats at once. Sia capitalized, landing a rapid sequence of [Shadow Punches] against his side, though the Zeraora's [Quick Guard] unfortunately negated them. The air hummed with energy as Zuko redirected multiple [Thunderbolts], carving lightning paths away from Shae, while Miu attempted to reassert pressure on Vian with [Mud Shot] and [Ancient Power]. Nayru had retreated into a support rule for now, having been forced to regenerate slowly with [Take Heart].
Velari meanwhile focused fully on upkeeping their defense. [Light Screen], [Reflect], and even the occasional [Substitute] sprang up whenever one of them became the focus of Zuko's overwhelming power. Her Domain was instantly there to stabilise and to at least slow down any advances the Storm menace tried.
The battlefield now resembled a storm-tossed ocean of crystal and lightning, a dynamic, living arena where every action had consequences. Sia’s strikes weaved through openings, Shae’s aerial maneuvers carved paths of disruption, and the Domains clashed in violent opposition, each pulse shifting trajectories and altering outcomes. The combination of Mythicals’ synergy, tactical disruption, and Velari’s environmental manipulation slowly but surely began to push Zuko ever so slightly back as more and more damage started to accumalate on him. Not enough to threaten defeat, but enough that the balance of the fight had begun to lean, imperceptibly but undeniably, towards the united front.
But in the center of it all, Zuko remained as composed, precise, and formidable as ever, the embodiment of a Lesser Legendary and ruler that felt like the situation was still entirely under his control. But now he was forced to contend with a force far greater than any single opponent. Moments later, he proved that his arrogance was well deserved. For apparently everything they had done didn't really matter all that much to him.
Zuko’s gaze steadied. Without warning, his entire presence folded inward, calm andcontrolled. His entire Domain collapsed into a pinpoint, and before anyone could capitalize on the brief pause, he exhaled. A single, steady pulse rippled through the ground like a heartbeat. "Time to reset the field," he murmured. That very moment Miu used to teleport who knows where, vanishing from the battlefield for the moment.
[Electric Terrain], essentially a weaker version of Zuko's Domain, surged into being, washing over the battlefield in a golden flood of static. The terrain crackled with renewed vitality, electricity coursing along every fracture in the ground. Zuko’s body shimmered with the dual glow of [Charge] and [Calm Mind], the two moves weaving together into a radiant equilibrium. Sparks gathered at his limbs, energy condensing with mathematical precision. Then came the shift, his breathing slowed, movements stilling as his body shimmered faintly blue. He had used [Rest].
The battlefield froze. Sia blinked in disbelief. "He’s... sleeping? Now out of all times?"
"Not quite," Vian replied with a grimace. "Don’t let up!"
They didn’t. A barrage of attacks rained down in perfect coordination. For a heartbeat, it looked as though the group might finally breach his defense. But Zuko’s eyes remained closed, serene, as though deep in meditation. Then, with a crack of thunder, his body moved on instinct alone. [Snore] burst outward in a concussive pulse, a wall of sound and electricity that threw the attacking Mythicals backward, scattering formations and breaking momentum entirely.
By the time the air cleared, the wounds on his body had healed. The slight hesitation in his movements due to his sustained damage was gone. Zuko stood revitalized, arcs of electricity humming along his frame, fur bristling with renewed power. He flexed a claw once, slow and deliberately, before raising his head. Even Miu reappeared next to him, ready to continue the fight.
"I told you," he said quietly, eyes calm and alight with the storm. "You cannot outlast me."
And just like that, the battle’s balance reset. Every hard-won inch of progress, every push and feint, erased in an instant. It wasn’t arrogance, it was endurance. His mastery over utility turned every lull into recovery, every pause into power reclaimed. Against such control, even the coordinated Mythicals found themselves locked once more in the same relentless, unending rhythm.
The fight would not end quickly. Not until someone found a way to break past that.

Attacks that enter her Domain scatter, weaken, or transform, their energy restructured into dazzling crystal growths or prismatic shields. Every movement becomes deliberate, every surge of power forced to obey symmetry.
