Arriving at Windstone

Their travels went by quite smoothly, no accidents along the way. At sundown, the paladins would disembark and set up camp, resting for fhe night before continuing their travels. Kaelon and the squad leaders continued their training under Kane every night of their journey.

They were a days ride from Windstone and the city was already in view. Smoke billowed from its streets and they could barely make out a fleet of ships besieging the city. It seemed fhe lord of Windstone had been right, pirates were targeting his city.

Kane turned back to towards his men and yelled out.

"We're speeding up! Windstone is just ahead! We must make it as fast as we can, we'll ride until we get there! No stops or detours!"

With that he snapped the reins of his horse and sped off towards Windstone. Everyone followed behind, eyes locked on the smoking Windstone. As they got closer the sounds of cannon fire came ringing out from the harbor.

At their current pace they would make it to the city at nightfall. They watched as cannonballs assaulted Windstone from afar. Their walls were hilding up but the docks had been ravaged by cannon fire. Some stray shots had even made it past the wall, striking the city proper.

More than one house had already been destroyed by cannon fire. As the sun began to set fhe damage had only gotten worse. The pirates had already made it into the city, ravaging multiple districts of Windstone. The city guard had set up a temporary perimeter, taking all civilians that could make it into the noble district.

Finally reaching the city the paladins rode through bloody streets. Kaelon and Kane rode ahead, going straight for the docks. The squad leaders scattered throughout the city to deal with the plundering pirates.

Riding down to the docks, Kaelon saw the fleet of pirate ships surrounding the harbor. Cannon fire went off every second, its booming sound echoing through the streets. After making it down to the docks Kane disembarks his horse.

He took a starting pose and shot down the docks, not slowing down at all as he neared its edge. Suddenly he jumped, flying straight for one of the fleet's ships. Kaelon watched with his eyes wide as he made it on board an enemy ship.

Without hesitation he followed his example and shot down the docks. He aimed for the closest ship he could find and once he neared the end of the dock, he jumped. He made it quite far before beginning to fall, but not far enough. Kaelon desperately infused his Divinity into his feet, using more energy than he needed to for the Ember Steps.

Flames sparked below his feet, and began shooting out. They sent Kaelon back up, allowing him to make it onto the pirate ship. As he landed on the deck, feet wreathed in flames, the pirates turned to him with madness in their eyes.

Immediately they shot to attack him, shouting things like.

  "Die!"

"For Cain, The Sin of Wrath!"

  "For Wrath!"

Red energy that sent chills down Kaelon's spine spreading among the pirates. Kaelon felt it was similar to priests, borrowing a Gods power. Only they were drawing upon a demigods corrupt nascent divinity. They were being enhanced by Cain, Sin of Wrath.

Swords and axes flew at Kaelon as the mob of pirates tried to attack. With embers at his feet Kaelon dodged their attacks smoothly. His glowing sword moved quickly, executing flowing slashes as he moved through the crowd.

  'Second Form: Cinderflow'

He cut through the raging men with clean and flowing movements. Though enhanced, these pirates were consumed by wrath. All they could do was attack harder and their judgements weren't clear in their anger. With clean footwork and flowing swordsmanship Kaelon cut through them like butter.

Once the last man fell he would set the ship ablaze before jumping to the next, feet shooting out flames. This pattern repeated two more times before the pirates began shoofing cannons at his flaming form. It didn't matter if the ship he was on was still fighting him, cannonballs came raining down wherever he went.

Kane was suffering the same treatment, though his figure didn't stand out as much as the flaming Kaelon. Thunder seemed to be gathering to the west, a wave of thunderclouds rolling their way.

Below the rolling clouds came two ships, a jolly roger with a smirking skull on their flags. In its eyes you could see blue accents. Cutlasses crossed behind it wreathed in lighting and wind. At the bow of the larger and leading ship was a girl her dark blue hair covered by a captain's hat.

The two ships fired their cannons at the Wrath Sin's pirates, sinking one ship. They sailed forward, breaking through the other pirates breaking blockade. Kaelon watched as these new pirates sailed into Windstone's waters from a ship pretty close to where they had come from.

As he watched them sail past him, his eyes locked on the supposed captain. The blue haired gurl at the bow of the ship stared back at him, making eye contact. Kaelon felt a familiar presence from the girl, one like his own.

He was about to jump for another ship, cannonballs already coming his way. Turning toward the new arrivals, he made his choice. He shot goward the girl's ship, intent on investigating the familiar presence.

Flames shot from his feet and the girl's crew watched in awe as he landed on their deck. The captain on the other hand wasn't impressed by his ability. She approached him with a serious expression, her eyes curiously examining him.

Kaelon met her gaze head on and spoke first.

  "Who are you?"

The girl's eyebrows furrowed and she replied with an annoyed tone.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that? You're the one intruding on my ship."

Kaelon nodded, not trying to get more enemies on his hands than necessary. He had seen them attack the Wrath Sin's pirates. they were potential allies.

"Right, sorry. My name is Kaelon, I'm with the Altan church. We came to support the lord of Windstone in dealing with these heretics."

The captain nodded and stuck out a hand.

"Well, it's nice to meet you. The name is Vaelora Tempest. These are my men, we are the Tempest Pirates."

Kaelon shook her hand without much thought. The moment their skin touched, however, he felt something he had only sensed in himself and the Gods. Divine energy eminated from her, now that they touched he could feel it clearly. His eyes widened in surprise as he faced the pirate, a cooling breeze coming from her.

Vaelora wore an equally surprised expression. She had a smilar experience as Kaelon when they touched, only she felt an intense heat from him. The fire of his Divinity burning hot.

Suddenly they both felt another presence. This one sent chills down their spine, it was a profane and dark energy. They turned to the sea to see a large man with bloodstained hands flying in their direction. A huge and bloody grin decorated his face.

It was Cain, The Sin of Wrath. A man who killed hundreds of people with his bare hands to forge his Divinity of Wrath. His eyes held a bloodthirsty gaze. looking at the two demigods like prey.
