Interlude

  Narrator's POV

It was a peaceful night in the first yer. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Nothing to see. Nothing to hear.

  Smash!

Of course, that was what you would have thought until something came out of the dark.

  Crunch!

Munching noises could be heard in the air as the sound of flesh was being torn, as the floor and even the sky were painted red. You couldn't hear anything else but pure devouring.

  Crush!

The same being that had attacked Kibishi and the other supernaturals was chewing on something. Something soft. Something that used to be alive. Something that had once drawn breath. Something that had once been moving. Its mouth was dripping from how much blood it had drunk. Its cws, which seemed so rotten, were clinging on to something. Its body was full of holes.

  Spsh!

The being was eating SOMETHING. The question was, what?

Well, just like any living creature, it needed to hunt down its food to survive. It was how the w of that world had been created. To live, you had to take a life from another. You couldn't bme the monster for trying to survive in the yers of hell.

  Crunch! Crunch!

The sound of something that had once been bones getting broken like a small tree branch.

It didn't take any effort. To it, it was nothing but easy prey.

The thing it had caught was an unfortunate family that had tried to escape the yer to safety: a mother, a father, and two daughters.

The mother had been chopped in half. The father was the one who was being eaten alive. The two young daughters had been peeled off, and you could see only the bones hanging on one of the broken buildings. It was still fresh since they had just been torn from skin to bones. Nothing felt worse than your very skin getting torn apart without even dying first. The family had been praying for someone —anyone —to save them. But their prayers fell on deaf ears.

Such was the horrible fate any human could face in a world with no salvation.

But what did you expect when you were in a world where a monster could outcss you in every way? It was natural that some would die at the hands of the powerful. It was the circle of life. Nothing could escape death. But how it was received was another story.

The two daughters who had bright futures had their lives taken by something hungry.

They didn't even get a chance to grow up to be somebody.

Though even if they had both survived, who knew what was lying ahead for them? For some people, perhaps this was mercy. For others, it was just a disgusting sight. The being also had a couple of its own kinds on the floor. Some had beetles' feathers for bodies. Some had pagans. Others were lions. It even had many different types of birds.

All of them had been eaten alive. Body parts that were torn for the fun of it. Nothing about the sight was pretty. The ground was barely brown like before. The being was looking high and low for those teenagers who had had some tasty flesh.

But once it lost the moment of the same teenagers with supernatural powers, it gave up and looked for smaller prey.

Thanks to their abilities, they had barely escaped its grasp.

There was also the fact that it was not even fully awakened.

  Yes.

The being was relying on instinct instead of awareness. Even now, the being was not fully awake. It was sleeping while trying to restore its energy. Such a thought was most terrifying. But what was even more scary was that the Supernaturals were unaware of this sudden turn of events that was unfolding until it was too te.

  Toss!

After savoring its meal, the being tossed the family's remains aside and continued walking in the darkness.

  Footsteps were heard.

But no one was there to hear them.

  No.

They should have been thankful that they were not there since they would have been the next meal for the being.

For you see, this was one of the WEAKEST beings that roamed the yers. If the being that was the lowest ranking was giving normal humans and even the supernaturals a hard time to defend themselves or even counter the very being itself, then what hope did they have when they realized that this was THE weakest among the ranks?

This being was not something to underestimate, but, to be truthful, it was ONLY the beginning of the complex trials the Supernaturals had to face.

Luckily for them, the world they were living in was made out of not only rocks and dirt but also magic.

Magic that benefited the creatures, forbiddens, and Monsters, but also the Supernaturals themselves.

If they could somehow figure out that fact on their own, then their chances of survival were very high.

Of course, that was to say they did.

The Super Codes were also built to collect data from past events and strengthen their toughness. Not only that, but they also boosted the Supernaturals' magical energy so that they could get in the pool with these dangerous beings to escape, at least if it seemed fit.

But what they HADN'T calcuted was the fact that this very being was beyond their current level. A lot of time and calcution had to be put in, and at LEAST a week of training for the veterans.

But while that was happening, the unfortunate souls would most likely die at the hands of the rulers of the underworld.

The seven yers were far more dangerous than they would ever imagine.

The saving grace was that they had saved the very person who could "potentially" defend them from these powerful beings.

  That person... was Kibishi.

But let's not get it twisted. The very Supernatural he represented was powerful. In fact, with its power, Kibishi could be the number one person to take on the yers on his own.

  But!

Kibishi was not like the veterans. Although he was powerful on paper, his ck of training and awareness of this power would be his greatest downfall.

Even if he knew what supernatural type he was, Kibishi would never tap into his TRUE power unless it was awakened by something. And what that something was differed based on his behavior or beliefs.

  For example,

Let's say he had a way to counter the being that was faster than him. The counter would be useless if he couldn't even get close to the very being that was faster than all of them combined. And that was the SLOWEST of them all. All of the others, like it was ten times faster, stronger, and maybe even cleverer if they were fully awakened.

The good news about this was that the being was no longer interested in the first part of the first yer.

It was by pure chance that the Supernaturals had encountered it.

  However,

Since it knew now that the tasty meals were roaming there, the creature would check upon it to see if they returned.

The Supernaturals would be careful and try not to be in its sight.

But the fateful encounter would bring hardship from now on.

One had to wonder. What would happen next? Who would be the victor? Who would be the loser?

And more importantly... who were... the Supernaturals? What were their origins?
