Kibishi's POV
Csh! Csh!
Again. And again.
The battle raged on without me.
Crash!
Hitting the snowy floor. Crashing into the walls. Trying to nd a hit within the darkness of clouds.
As the wind blew, as the temperature dropped, the battle didn't stop for a moment.
Everyone was doing their part. Yet. There I was, standing there like an idiot.
Moments earlier, Tao had told me to wait for Jir and py my role. And to be honest, I understood where she was coming from.
I wasn't as fast as them. I wasn't as strong. All I had was a simple knife. I knew I was the concept of death, but just seeing those fmes wouldn't do me any good if I couldn't figure out how to fight at all.
Swinging the knife around wouldn't do me any good. What I had done to the table wouldn't work on the monster since it would be moving. Attacking something that stayed still and attacking something that moved were two different things.
I didn't stand a chance, frankly.
But still...
Csh! Csh!
More cshes were heard in the background. I could see Tao, Kuma, and David trying their very best to hold back.
I had a few questions of my own. For starters, how in the world had David managed to get a stone sword, and why wasn't it breaking? Also, how had he become that fast in such little time? That was twice as fast as I had been training, as soon as I had known that I was a Supernatural.
*How come he gets to have progress and I don't?*
I narrowed my eyes at that thought. I did that for two reasons. One, I realized that I was jealous of David, although briefly. And two, I came to terms with the fact that I might never be as strong as anyone else in this team.
If David and the others could fight off this thing, then what good was I?
I slowly raised my knife and stared at the reflection. I realized that I had been doing that for some time. But this wasn't the time for that.
I looked back at the fight.
Csh!
Bdes met and retreated.
The sounds of bdes cshing with sharp objects were unparalleled. Almost like a song and dance of some kind.
Ssh!
David sshed vertically as he received five scratch marks near his stomach area. As the cloud of smoke disappeared when it swiped, David regained his movement and thrust his stone bde.
Thrust!
But to no avail, David simply went through the cloud. That didn't stop David from nding on all fours and swiftly turning around, moving up to his waist area, and leaping towards the monster inside the cloud of smoke. He brought back his sword like a baseball bat and—
Swing!
It finally made contact. The monster inside the cloud ended up on the other side of the igloo. David nded and stepped forward once more. Tao and Kuma followed him behind.
Crash!
Whoosh!
But just like that, a cloud of smoke was right in front of all three of them. Before any of them could react, a rotten flesh cw appeared in front of David's face.
Wham!
David, Tao, and Kuma ended up getting smmed into a wall full of snow.
It was smoke appearing from that impact that the three made. I could see some snow falling from the now-big hole that the monster had created, thanks to its intense power.
"Grr...!" I narrowed my eyes. I gritted my teeth. I tightened my grip on my knife.
Wait? Sit back? Stay put until the time comes?
To hell with that!
I raised my knife and slid my foot a little.
"I'm sorry, Tao. I'll do anything for you. Anything. But...!"
I couldn't just sit put and do nothing. I'm no camera to record and py for anyone to see. I was a human being. A human being with supernatural powers. And I was the concept of death.
I was heading out there, now—
Crash!
I halted when I saw Tao leap out of the wall alongside Kuma and David behind her. Tao spat out some blood and wiped her bleeding lip. Tao slowly raised her bde up high. She then brought it back a bit and brought her right foot forward.
Stomp!
With a heavy impact, some part of the snow melted. Tao twisted her right foot and widened her eyes at the monster.
"Holy sword... RELEASE!"
Burrrssttt!!!
With a command, the mighty sword screamed out like a goril with some intense energy surrounding the whole sword itself.
Kuma brought her sword to her waist as she bent both of her knees.
"First sin... complete."
Grrr!!!!
As if Kuma's sword were a living demon itself, it roared, and an intense aura surrounded the whole weapon. It mirrored Tao's perfectly. One bright white and one dark. Their bde colors were red and simir; aside, their power showed light and darkness. Yin and Yang, you could say.
David slowly brought his arm up in the air.
"... Seal. Off."
Whoossshh!!
A gust of wind appeared around David's body. It didn't take long before his whole body was covered with a green aura. As his eyes turned bright red as crimson, I could see his hair getting blown by the pressure of his intense power.
The monster inside the cloud slowly showed its mouth. It had sharp teeth, almost as sharp as a knife. No, worse than that, it was sharper than a knife. One bite and your whole body would be broken clean in half. No amount of regeneration could save you from that bite force.
It reminded me of a lion if it caught its prey before it could escape.
I suddenly could feel some heat around my body.
Wait, no. It wasn't heat. I looked and saw the monster gathering some energy to counter my friends. Like you're inhaling some oxygen, the monster was gathering the heat that it was creating.
Wait. Creating heat?
How did that make sense?
The monster stopped inhaling, and its mouth closed.
Meanwhile, Tao moved her hand a bit and shouted:
"The First Trumpet!!!!"
Burssttt!!!!
A beam of light struck and aimed its course at the monster. The light looked pure and holy. I could see a sparkling effect alongside the beam that was burning anything in its path. It was beautiful. It reminded me of who Tao was and that she wasn't just a pretty face. No, more than that, the way she swung that sword moved my very heart. I could hear it beating so fast that I thought I was running a marathon or something.
Realizing what I was thinking about, I shook my head and narrowed my eyes.
I shouldn't focus on that!
I didn't get a chance to process that mindset when David and Kuma swung their swords as well.
"Sinful calling!" Kuma shouted as she twisted her upper body a bit during the swing.
Dooommmm!!!!
Like the sound of the end of the world, Kuma released a dark energy beam at the monster.
The way the darkness ate away at the snow from the very roof to the ground reminded me of a horror movie after the vilin killed a few people. The terror I felt as Kuma released such power. I could see that she was pouring her very soul into this attack. So horrifying... yet amazing.
David simply swung downwards with his muscles intensifying as veins appeared all over the pce. With a mighty shout, he screamed:
"FIRST TASK: COMPLETE AND RELEASE!"
Whhhhooouuuu!!!!
Like an owl making its sound in the dead of night in a discordant way, almost frightening at that, the pressure of the wind created spikes of rocks, and they aimed at the monster as well.
The way David swung his bde was admirable. With pure strength alone, I could've told that attack wasn't something to scoff at. David had been training for years so I wasn't surprised that he had some strength. But to have all of this strength to release a powerful attack?
Again, what had happened to him?
I hoped he could expin this someday...
That aside, I saw all three of their attacks racing one another. Racing to see who could hit the monster first.
Wait, no. That wasn't the case.
It seemed like all of them were gaining some speed to cause a big impact. Not only that, the three attacks started to merge together and turn into a major mass of destruction. With lightning surrounding the light, darkness, and wind coating them all, it began expanding and turning bigger.
Bigger.
Bigger and bigger.
This was something to behold. I had never seen such teamwork. Maybe I didn't need to worry about them. I slowly smiled and ughed at myself.
"There's no way it'll survive this attack..."
I said softly.
But still... what was this unsettling feeling I was having?
Why did I still have a feeling that something wasn't right? Almost as if something very wrong could happen at any moment.
Then—
Boom!
A huge explosion was created. I could see the snow leaking and turning into water once more. From the distance I was standing, I saw a cloud of smoke appearing bigger than the monster's. It touched the roof of this pce, and more water dropped from the roof. The ground that the monster had been standing on had fully melted and become a pool of water.
More and more, the pce was starting to have water drop like it was raining indoors.
I looked and saw three of my friends breathing in a heavy way. I then looked back at the cloud of smoke. I looked to the left and then right of that smoke. So far, nothing was moving. It seemed like... we had won this fight.
I thought that, yet... I somehow felt like the battle wasn't over.
And what happened next proved me right...
