Chapter 9: Leave Everything to Me

At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, one squinted his eyes to look at a pitch-black rainy night. The light was poor, and only the sound of footsteps mixed with rain could be heard. After a while, it seemed that several soldiers in tattered armor were supporting someone wearing silver armor walking towards this side.

Looking at their attire, it seemed like the Zhao army. Song Chuyis mouth opened wide - impossible! How could they be defeated with half more men and horses? Otherwise, how did they end up in such a miserable state?

The figures of those people were getting closer and closer, the warm firelight shone on the newcomers, casting a layer of warmth on their armor, until they approached, Song Chuyi finally saw clearly that there were seven people in total.

Six soldiers in armor, one leading the way in front, two at the back carrying a general wearing silver helmet and armor, and three others covering the rear. This formation is clearly for evading pursuing troops.

"Hey! You two, get out of here quickly!" The soldier in front shouted loudly.

Zhao Yilou heard the sound and pulled Song Chuyi, who was motionless with a look of concentration.

The autumn rain was cold and piercing to the bone, both the soldiers and General were injured. After a moment, they saw two disheveled people by the fire who didnt seem to want to leave, their voices already laced with anger, "Still not leaving?!"

At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, she turned her back to them, grabbed a handful of hair and covered half of her face. She wanted to pretend to be profound, but how could she with this tender face!

Zhao Yilou thought this was for safety and also hurriedly went to grab his own hair, but was slapped by Song Chuyi, "What are you grabbing!"

"I look better than you, isnt showing my face more dangerous?" Zhao Yilou said in a low and honest voice.

"Your mother is a handle!" Song Chu was choked with anger, but the other familys appearance was indeed several times better than hers. However, when Song Chu saw that the soldier was about to draw his sword, she didnt have time to bother with him and coughed softly, saying, "If he doesnt get treated for his injuries soon, Im afraid he wont make it through the night. Youd better hurry up and help him over to treat his wounds."

Song Chu Yis tone was pressed very low, but it couldnt help but carry a hint of childishness, only to be covered up by her speaking manner and content.

If this were in the city, the speaker would be a somewhat dignified elder, which wouldnt be strange at all. But out here in the wilderness, hearing it from a half-grown childs mouth makes it seem very bizarre indeed.

The soldier was momentarily stunned, and the general who had been silent all along said, "Help me over there."

His voice was very thick and heavy, making people feel that he is a trustworthy person. Song Chu got up and stuffed a bundle of hay into Zhao Yis arms, and the two of them shifted their position to make some space for them.

The general sat down in front of the stone wall, leaned back slightly, and glanced at Song Chuyi and Zhao Yilou. Because only he himself knew that what Song Chuyi said was true, if they delayed any further, he might lose his life.

Two men quickly removed the generals armor, exposing his upper body.

Song Chuoyi couldnt help but take a sneak peek, and indeed his physique was robust! However, her attention was soon drawn to the arrow shaft protruding from his chest. The arrow had been brutally severed, with only an inch or so exposed above the skin, and it was clear that it hadnt penetrated too deeply, making it difficult to pull out.

Its not strange to wear armor and still get shot. In fact, whether its a general or a soldier, the armor they wear is not absolutely able to withstand sharp blades. For example, a soldiers armor only protects the important positions of the front chest abdomen and head, while other parts of the body are ordinary linen clothes. Slightly higher-ranking generals will be better off, their armor is made by linking armor plates together to form a war coat, which not only has strong defensive power but also protects most of the vital parts of the body.

Even so, its not foolproof. The armor also has weaknesses, that is, there will be gaps in the middle of each piece of armor, and if someone with excellent archery skills shoots an arrow, they can also penetrate the armor through these tiny gaps.

"Are you a doctor?" The general suddenly turned his head and stared straight at Song Chuyi.

Looking straight ahead, Song Chu Yi only saw clearly that this general was not bad-looking, with sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes, a high nose bridge, and a very dignified appearance.

"I roughly understand." Song Chu acknowledged upon seeing the unfriendly faces of those people on the other side. This place was at the border of Qi and Zhao, and these people were extremely cautious. If they found someone useful to them, there would be no danger of being killed for the time being.

  "Come here," said the general.

As soon as he finished speaking, someone immediately stopped him and said, "General, dont, this person is strange."

As a doctor, he shouldnt have fallen to Song Chuyis level, let alone in the border area between two countries, in the wilderness, how did he just happen to meet a doctor?

Youd rather let the doctor, Im not willing to! Song Chu initially wanted to scold, but for his life, he could only endure. However, compared to scolding people, he now wants to grab that general and ask him a question, whether he is the main general or that heaven-defying boil.

The general slightly raised his hand, indicating no need to worry, "Come over."

At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, it flowed past like a stream.

Now that youre here, its not good for us to say anything more. Well just be fully alert and prepared. One of the soldiers said, "Do you have a way to remove the broken arrow?"

Song Chu nodded and said to General Chong, "Ive offended you, General."

Having said that, seeing that he didnt stop him, he reached out and touched the wound on his chest for a while, then solemnly said, "This arrow has not entered the body by two inches, and its close to the heart. It takes a strong person to pull out the arrow, and when pulling out the arrow, one must be steady. After pulling it out, everything that follows will be left to me."

When Song said "hand it over to me", her expression became exceptionally solemn. Moreover, she was very perceptive and knew that they didnt trust her, so she asked for medicine and cloth, then retreated to the fire pit, spreading out the wet cloth to dry, and also had Zhao Yilou bring a ceramic pot to boil water. The others seeing her like this, didnt dare to slack off either, and quickly began preparing to pull out the broken arrow.

"Are you a doctor?" Zhao Yilou leaned over and asked in a low voice.

Song Chu smiled faintly, with a somewhat profound and mysterious meaning.

Zhao Yilou saw the situation and didnt ask any more questions. After all, she even understood military formations, so whats strange about understanding some medical skills?

On the other side, the arrowhead was at a critical juncture, and everyones nerves were stretched taut. On this side, two people were roasting by the fire with ease, taking the opportunity to dry the bandages. Zhao Yilou occasionally looked up anxiously to check on the situation, while Song Chuoyi leaned against the warm fire for a while, his eyelids starting to droop, and he almost fell asleep to the sound of the generals suppressed voice.

It wasnt until two moments later that someone came running over, with a mixture of joy and worry, relief and tension, shouting loudly to Song Chuyi, "The arrowhead has been removed!"

Song Chuyi was startled awake and sprang up, turning to see an unfamiliar face. Instantly alert, he turned to Zhao Yilou and said in a low voice, "Bring water and follow me!"

Zhao Yi Lou hastily picked up the water that had been boiled and cooled again, following her to Generals side.

At the beginning of the Song Dynasty, a piece of cloth was cut off and used to wipe away the blood stains on his body. A hole had been pierced in his chest, and blood was still flowing out continuously. After carefully wiping it clean, he poured an entire bottle of wound medicine, which he had obtained from a soldier, onto the wound. Perhaps due to the large amount of dry medicinal powder absorbing the blood, it managed to stop some of the bleeding.

Song Chu hurriedly wiped the surrounding area clean and carefully wrapped the wound with a hot towel. She had often helped soldiers treat such injuries before, so her bandaging skills were naturally not to be questioned.

"Alright!" Song Chuoyi stood up, looking at his labor achievement with satisfaction.

Those six soldiers and Zhao Yilou all shut their mouths, only then did they see her manner, as if after pulling out the arrowhead, the generals life would be hanging by a thread, and then she would display her medical skills to save people.

Now looking at this situation... Could it be that "leave everything after that to me" only refers to bandaging?!

Several soldiers were furious in their hearts, wanting to draw their swords and ask for punishment, but thinking carefully, she didnt say what she would do afterwards. The generals life was worry-free, and she hadnt deceived them either...

But why does it feel so uncomfortable in my heart?
