“Do you have any evidence that I was the one who ‘set’ the snake on you?” He replied while keeping up his innocent exterior. It seemed that he refused to admit his guilt until the end, and considering the specifics of his crime I was not surprised. After all, how often do you see a criminal turn himself in?
“Whether you did it or not, you know perfectly. I have the evidence, and it can wait until later. Right now I have more criminals to catch” I replied, still with a devilish grin staining my face.
“Do you plan to admit it here, or in jail?” I added on.
“Do you really have evidence?” He replied, his face also turned a shade of green.
“Of course.” I lied, but I was sure I could find some, otherwise what good was my power.
“Fine, I admit that I alone set the snake on you. Additionally, I would like to state that I was not trying to kill you.” He replied slightly worried, but his words could be considered smart. Once escape was impossible, just try to brace for impact.
“That is wrong though, the snake definitely posed a threat to my life.” I said, a deeper desire to have his guilty head below my feet. For him to know his place, and his crimes to their full extent.
“You might not know but the snake was a garden snake, it is not poisonous and doesn’t usually attack people. You were safe the entire time, so I would like to request you consider this a prank.” He was a little stiff with his words, which made me think they were scripted.
“That is also incorrect, while the snake you put in my desk was a garden snake, it definitely posed a threat to my life.” I replied, how stupid could this guy be?
“But-” he started, but I interrupted.
“You were correct about garden snakes not being venomous, however even a non-venomous snake is still dangerous. A bite in a vein or artery, could cause serious damage if not kill me. And even without venom, there are many bacteria in a snake's mouth that could cause diseases. Especially with a puncture wound, the chances of infection are higher.” I quickly ranted off my specialized knowledge about snakes.
“Can you really say that you were not trying to kill me?” I spoke with anger, but only because it would cause the best effect.

“The things you said could easily apply to other animals, but the main thing is that garden snakes are docile and wouldn’t attack you.” He replied, now finally fighting for his life. The conversation here could be the difference between a prank or a serious attempt on my life. What he would be tried for would point in the direction of his future.
“Technically wrong, while garden snakes won’t usually attack someone, that is in a usual setting. That means in the snakes natural environment, without a person approaching it.” I stated, my knowledge on this matter was unusually great.
The guy dropped to his knees, he likely had nothing left. He could no longer defend himself, and why would he?
This was all just another of Johnny’s schemes after all.
That is why his knowledge on snakes was slightly off, it was enough for a superficial excuse. That was all that was needed for most people, but would quickly crumble under special attention like the police.
Johnny convinced this guy to put a snake in my desk, and when things were turning around with my newspaper article, Johnny gave this sad excuse to this boy. His intentions were for this boy to fall alone.
“Is that really the truth? Are garden snakes really like that?” The boy said desperate for a final chance of innocence.
“Of course, and what environment did you put the snake in?” I asked.
“A place outside of its natural habitat.” He answered obediently.
“And what do you think normal peoples’ reactions are to a snake?” I asked again.
“Surprise? Fear?” He asked.
“Their first reaction is to yell.” I responded.
“And what do you think a snake does when it hears loud noises?” I asked, feeding him answers.
“The snake gets frightened.” He answered.
“Do you realize what you did?” I asked.
“Yes.” He replied dully. He had given up on his innocence. He had finally realized the depth of his sins.
“Do you have anything to say before you are taken away?” I gave him a final opportunity.
He froze in place, then bowed his head. His long hair completely concealed his face, shortly hiding any emotions he had.
However, the small beads of water that fell onto the floor gave away his current actions. The tears quickly piled up, and a sudden shift in my mind occurred. He was no longer a sad excuse for an opponent, a tool used to attack me. He was now a truly defeated general, with no more chance for revenge.
“I-I-I’m s-sorry.” He managed to get out between the sobs.
“I-I didn’t w-want t-to kill you.” He spoke again with more despair.
He was now in his place, in full awareness of himself, and his actions. He was underfoot and would be left behind on the path to my future.
The only chance I had was to move forward.
“Goodbye.” I spoke with no emotion.
