Changes

At this point it's not so much the waiting between rooms that is slowing me down it's actually creating the rooms. Right now, even though I've gotten much more efficient, it still takes a while to fully realize my vision for each room. I can only imagine what it will be like when my floors get into the double digits. This is why I like to take time every now and then and just watch the delvers. Well, that and to get ideas for what to build next.

I'm currently up above my entrance looking out at everything. Something I haven't done in far to long. The solitary blades of grass have turned into small patches. Not enough to change this area from a desert, but enough for anyone paying attention to notice the immediate area is subtly starting to shift from a desert to something else. My presence was slowly but surely having an effect on the area.

Turning my attention to the town I can see several new buildings under construction. I even see a few official looking buildings that have already been built. These buildings I recognize thanks to Clyde's memories as the adventurers guild and city hall. There is also the city guard barracks that is currently being expanded. The number of guards is currently enough but Clyde wants to future proof the barracks. There's no need for a training area though since, as he explained it, the dungeon is the training area.

With nothing interesting going on inside the dungeon at the moment I sat and watched the sunset for the first time in ages, before getting back to work. The next room was going to be a lightly wooded area. First I spent a little time placing all the grass and dirt, making sure the ground was just uneven enough to feel natural. Then I went back through and started placing trees, specifically southern live oak. The reason for this is that it grows wide as much as it grows tall, unless trimmed regularly.

Once the trees were placed I added a vines to each tree. Lots of thin vines but a few thick ones too. Mixed in with these perfectly harmless vines I add some boa constrictors that will try to hoist unsuspecting delvers into the trees before wrapping them up completely. To help with this I chose a subspecies that can grow to over 6 meters in length. Far larger than anything found on earth I'm pretty sure. This may seem cruel but, they should know better than to let down their guard by this point surely.

Along with the boas I also added griffons to the room. To keep things challenging I gifted them with the wind blade skill for ranged damage and the razor talon skill for when they have to fight up close. Along with that I also decide to introduce mist bats. Literally bats made entirely of mist. Completely immune to most types of physical attack but, otherwise not very large or impressive looking. To make sure they couldn't focus entirely on what's above them I also added wood golems with the stone bark skill.

I was just about to put down the finishing touches when I got a notification that someone had made it out of the forest on the fifth floor. Immediately, I focused on the fifth floor hoping to catch the look on their faces. To my surprise, though in hind sight it probably shouldn't have been a surprise, it was the ladies. Fortunately it didn't take me long to find them and I got to see the look on their faces as they noticed the landscape that seemed to go on way longer that it should. It didn't take them long to decide to head towards the castle in the distance. Admittedly I made it look further away than that room actually was.

The first griffon caught them completely by surprise. Up till now they'd had no reason to pay attention to the sky so I can't really blame them. Still the look on their faces when it dove right into the middle of them was priceless.
