I hate this mind-reading spell.
Want to know what it feels like?
I’ll tell you.
Reading someone’s memory feels like you’re experieng it yourself.
Its like the memory was mine and part of my past.
So what do you think will happen if the certain memory you’re reading is a horse fug another horse?
Traumatizing.
It’s like I was relieving a memory of myself fug a horse.
Truly traumatizing.
Noting to myself to avoid repeating such mistake, I was determio make sure it won’t happen again.
‘Sorry little horse, but allow me to take a more look at your memories.’ Lending an apologetic smile towards the horse, I casted the same mind-reading spell.
Hopefully, by the time I’m done, I might’ve grasped the meics of hypnotism.
I could already imagihe full bes of learning such spell. With it, I would have an easy time around this world without having to worry about showing my supernatural side.
So, for the rest of the night without having even a wink, me and the horse were flopped on the ground, sweating and gasping for breath profusely.
If someoo see us like this, no doubt they would mistake us or me for fug a horse.
Wouldn’t want that to happen now, do we?
So I forced myself to stand up and sensed my slowly rec devil energy. A few hours of stantly casting a spell that sucks devil energy stantly has taken quite a toll on my reserves.
Thankfully, it only took a few hours for my reserves to fully recover. When suddenly, I noticed something unusual about it.
Why does it feel like it’s rger than before?
Its like having 30ml of devil energy and after the recover, it has increased to 31ml.
‘So this is how you grow your strength as a devil?’ I muttered to myself. Its quite simir to physical workout then. Exhausting and tearing your muscles will cause then to develop by the time they recover.
‘Fasating.’ Eager to test it out some more, I looked down on the fallen horse aated.
I felt pity towards him, we’ve been up all night and we didn't even had time to stop.
I believe this horse needed is well deserved rest.
So I crouched and patted the horse’s cheeks. soling him, only for his head to swat my hand away out of anger.
I uand.
Leaving the horse alone, I was about to searore horse victims when I suddenly noticed that it was already m.
At the same time, a resounding voice was heard behind me.
“Hold it right there d! What are yer doing in my stables? Are you one of those disgusting people who seeks pleasure from horses?” Turning around slowly, I saw the owner pointing his rge farming fork towards my head.
“Wait a minute. You’re quite familiar. Aren’t you that kid whose grandfather kindly asked me to borrow a small spa the stables yesterday? Where’s yer grandfather kid?” As soon as the owner saw my familiar face, his eyes widened in surprise and lowered his farming fork.
“He’s…” I was about to say that God wasn’t my grandfather but then I hesitated and tinued with a different respond instead.
“….gone. He just left this m for his job.” I lied through my teeth. Now I truly feel like a devil, aren’t they known to be good at deception and lies?
“And he left a child like you here, in a stables of all pces?” The owner’s eyebrows burrowed.
Although the owner looks very old and close to death’s door, that doesn't mean his kindness dwindled. As a matter of fact, he felt bad and pity towards me, who he assumed to have bee by his one and only family member.
If I were to discover what the owner was thinking, he might bey very first test subject for the newly developed hypnosis.
Unfortunately, I haven’t casted my Legilimen the owner yet as I’m not sure what kind of effect it will have to a normal human.
If there’s someone I experiment on, then those would be the people simir to the bandits I entered a day back.
“He didn’t leave me. And besides, I handle my own.” Deg to keep the persona of being a kid which is true sidering my physical age except for my mental.
“Big words for a kid as small as you. I’ve never seen such a wimp saying those words hahaha!” The owner simply ughed at me.
Ign the temptation to teach the old man a lesson, I maintained my calm.
“Well, I don’t think it would be wise of me to leave a kid like you ihe stables. Horses be a bit…rough sometimes.” The owner muttered the st sentender his breath, a fsh of fear appeared in hs eyes, as if recalling a very bad memory.
Of course, with my enhanced physique, I was able to hear what he muttered.
‘Now I’m curious to know what he meant by those.’ I muttered to myself with an amused tone.
“Well how about we get inside first? I still have some bread from yesterday. It should be good enough to fill your stomach for the m.” The owner offered.
To be ho, I don’t see any reason to refuse, so I nodded my head and agreed, following him outside the stables.
“So do you have a name? Mine’s Rad.” While walking towards his farm house’s front door, the owner now known as Rad, asked but also introduced himself after.
“…Chamber.” I uttered after a moment of hesitation. I was just thinking if I should ge my o another in this world but decided against it. It might just risk myself getting some sort of identity crisis.
“Chamber? What an odd name. Reminds me of those English people.” Rad muttered.
“English people?” I responded with a raised eyebrow.
“Those white people from the west, bunch of bad seeds from this world I tell ya.” Rad clicked his tongue and shook his head.
‘Is he perhaps referring to Ameris or the British?’ I muttered under my breath, guessing who Rad is referring to.
Cck!
Upon arrival at his farmhouse’s front door, Rad shuffled through his set of keys before finding the right one.
“e on in, make yourself at home.” Said Rad before walking into the kit.
As for me, I sed my eyes around the house and found a crudely painted image of a woman hanging on a wall.
Obviously there’s no cept of photos and pictures during this age yet so people resort to paintings when decorating their home.
‘Must be his wife.’ I muttered to myself.
A few more minutes passed and Rad came back with a pte holding a slightly burnt bread. Its already halved which means its not fresh.
“Here, help yourself. You just be hungry.” Rad kindly offered.
My heart fluttered slightly at the show of kindness.
Here, an old man in the verge of the gates of death, was helping an unknown individual like me.
You ever find this kind of shit in my previous worlds.
“Thank you.” I uttered, helping myself by grabbing a bread knife and cutting a pieyself.
“Aye, at least you know some manners. People rarely thank others nowadays.”
“…”
I don’t know what’s gotten into me all of a sudden but I feel like I’m starting to like this old man.
We chatted for a few more minutes in which I finally learned more about this world.
This world is indeed in the past but there’s barely new ges except that there are few more legends and myths pared to my previous world.
Such as the legend of the standing goat, flying man and even Atntis was very famous throughout this world.
“Kid, its been a while but yrandfather is not back yet?” Rad pined slightly, not knowing that the person he’s pining to is her than the God of the Bible, the same God that Rad is currently worshipping.
Yes, one of the few things we talked about is his belief.
Rad is actually a Christian.
“You know kid, I have a vat room, I could lend it to you until yrandfather es back. As for me, I’ll just go ao the horses in the meantime. Do what you want.” With that, the old mahe farmhouse, heading straight to his stables.
I watched his back as he left.
‘I should roam around this vilge. Maybe just maybe, I might finally find a pce to call home in this world.’
***
Spsh!
“Get over here you little shit!”
My vision is getting fuzzy, I could hear the faint shouts following behind me.
Why? Why is this happening to me? I just want bread for my sister!
I could feel the wet and sloppy feeling of the mud on my soles as I run forward without any hints of stopping.
But despite it all, the exhaustion is near and I already feel my legs getting sore.
Yet, I didn’t want to stop. I have to get back. Get bad bring this bread bae or else my sister will die from hunger!
I swerved around the people I passed through, trying my best to stay alert.
Unfortunately for me, luck didn’t shine ooday as a man in an e robe actally stepped forward and I collided with him.
Bam!
Brag for the two of us to fall, I was surprised to notice that I was the only one who did.
Rubbing my forehead in pain, I raised my head to look at who I bumped into.
“Are you okay, child?” What greeted me was a child like me, his face etched a worried expression as he offers his hand for me to grab.
“I-I’m sor-” Just as I was about to apologize, an angry shout from behind followed by a harsh grab on my shoulder interrupted me.
“There yive me back what you stole, you little runt!” F me to stand up, I saw the bread seller raising his hand to sp me.
I quickly closed my eyes and waited for the ining pain. This is just a sp, I’ve endured something more painful than this.
One sed passed. Two seds passed and up to ten seds has passed a I felt nothing.
Scared yet fused, I slowly opened my eyes and was surprised to see that the boy I bumped into was now standing in front of me, his arm raised as he held the bread seller’s wrist.
“Hurting a child? I'm broad daylight? Talk about child abuse.” The boy in e robe muttered out loud, not only fusi also the bread seller and other bystanders.
“What the?! Who the hell are you? And what do you mean by child abuse? Take your hands off of me!” The bread seller tried to sp his hand out of the boy’s but after a few more tries aill uo be released, I saw the mixture of pain and fear in the bread seller’s eyes.
Who wouldn’t be? He was uo release himself from a boy twice as small as his size.
“What the fuck are you, how strong are you, you freak!?” Realizing that he ’t take his hand off, the bread seller resorted by g his fist and threatening to punch the boy.
No!
Not wanting to see the boy in pain by just trying to protect me, I tried to stand up and hell at the bread seller, to ask for his fiveness, but unfortunately, I was a step too slow and the bread seller has thrown his fist towards the boy’s face.
I immediately closed my eyes not wanting to see bloodshed, only to hear a collective sound of gasp.
I quickly opehem up soon after, expeg to see the boy on the ground clutg his face, only to be met with the sight of the boy standing still without any scrat him.
On the ground was the same bread seller, clutg his bleeding nose.
How is this possible? Who is he?
