Chapter 10

PLEASE READ BOTH THE AUTHOR NOTES

  The rider was stunned.

  “How do you know?”

“I'm blind so I use my [Mana Sense] to see, a spot where the mana conductivity matches the one of diamonds roughly the same shape of an adventurer tag and the fact that you were always ready for a fight but only climbed out of bed in certain situations that in my turns never proved true apparently because then you returned to bed but I would bet that when the person who was on night watch when we were attacked went to wake you up you responded really quickly; like you were already awake and waiting to be woken up.

  Am I wrong?”

“No you are not, now that the cat is out of the bag, would like to ask about one thing that I've noticed and that I'm quite sure you've also noticed. Ario, why were you using your magic on your travel companions?”

“Right it stopped affecting me at the start of the trip thanks to my armour I kept an eye on him but I forgot to confront him about it.”

In the meantime Ario was sweating profusely thinking about how to respond the fact that he had been discovered was bad enough but with the guard being a diamond ranked adventurer he was done if he didn't find a way to convince them to pry further after a simple explanation he would be fucked and he knew it.

“Uh I-I wanted to use an enchantment to let them be more difficult to spot by monsters, I didn't use it on everyone cause I don't have enough mana and I used it on those of us that are weaker at least by badge.”

“Ok first I don't believe you, second unless you can create magic you definitely can't do that there's no spell to make other peoples harder to spot. Unless you are an archmage but I doubt it.”Said Raia.

“Anyway I will personally take you to the guards at our destination to be interrogated.” interjected the adventurer closing the argument.

The days passed uneventfully and apart from guarding the bandits that remained alive after the fight there was nothing different to do.

When they arrived at the outputs the kids in charge of guarding the bandits at that time brought them to the guards at the wall who proceeded to take them to the prison cells.

And their guard took Ario to the cells of the Adventurer guild for questioning.

Meanwhile all the kids then presented themselves to the Adventurer guild branch to report their arrival after that the “owner” of the outpost and consequently the guild master of “Bloodlust” arrived.

“Kids! I am the guild master of Bloodlust a Kor level adventurer while you are in this outpost you will call me Commander or Guild Master depending if you want and manage to enter my guild but the explanation on how to do it will have to wait, now one of my guild mates will take you to your rooms.

After you'll have an hour to unpack your belongings and then you'll be expected to be here, do you all understand?”

A chorus of “Yes General” resounded and a figure entered, a woman by the sound of the steps.

“Good morning kids today I will be the one taking you all to your rooms.”

And so she did, in the next 15 minutes she had all of them in their rooms to unpack their belongings.

Raia did so pretty pretty quickly, mostly because she didn't have much to unpack to begin with.

Olaf only made her bring essentials for the most part and a communication crystal under pressure from her mother.

The rest of the hour was spent becoming familiar with her surroundings and actually seeing the place.

The second one was done while no one was around and while trying to be as discreet as possible with her magic.

She saw something she didn't expect before their arrival but came to know once they passed the gate to enter the outpost; it was essentially a city, just populated by adventurers only.

The first gate was on the inside of the wall and was connected to a smaller fortifications in case of an improbable attack from the inside.

The outer wall was massive; it was probably 20 meters high and 4 to 5 meters wide.

  It was imposing.

A thing she noticed was that it didn't have any apparent entrances and exits so she thought of how they would actually fight monsters if they were close quarter combatants.

She didn't manage to come up with an answer that wasn't drop from the wall and then climb back up but that didn't sound ideal so she decided to wait and “see” if they told them or not.

When the hour was up she was already at the Adventurer guild waiting for the General to give his speech, with her there were all the other kids.

“Welcome back kids, hope you had a fruitful hour.

Now onto the explanation of how to enter my guild.

There is one trial a year to enter the guild and every one can participate under some age restrictions, basically if you are too old for your rank you will not be able to try.

We only want the best of the best, we are a guild that's on the top because of quality not quantity.

The test consists in 2 parts a written tests that measure your knowledge and a practical one where you will fight another person of your rank till you lose after a certain number of win that depends on your rank you will fight our top ten strongest fighters for your rank but I digress if you win even one fight and score more than 80% in the test you will be eligible to enter the guild if you fail either of those two feats than you can try next year.

After being a legible you will go through a screening where you will fight people that won the exact same number of fights and there only a certain number depending on how many of you there were before will pass.

We offer lessons on what we ask in the written test so if you want you can participate.

Also many people don't know this but I have a reserve guild that house old members who are not in any condition to fight at the frontline anymore, people who had a debilitating injury and couldn't afford to get treated in time, people who decided that having a family was more important and don't want to risk their lives every second, something I encourage because living without a parent is worse than living with a lower income, or simply people that could make the main guild but are not up to par at the moment.

Like you can imagine this guild is a lot bigger than the main one but is no less important in my eyes in fact at the end of the selection process if you don't make it in the main guild but we think you could you will be offered a spot in the reserve guild for the time being you will be offered one.

Now you all will have an hour to decide if you want to participate in the test or not.”

Raia stood up and excused herself saying she preferred thinking about it alone, when she exited the guild building she went straight to her room where she locked herself in a nd activated the communication crystal.
