Peter woke to the sound of his phone ringing. With deep regret he picked up the phone.
" Hello?" Peter answered, his voice raspy.
"Morning, kid." Uncle William voice greeted him. "You good for another job today?"
Peter did a light stretch for a feel for his body: only sore. Enough recovery to return back to work. "No, I'm still broken from yesterday."
"Alright kid, take your time. Good by..."
Peter ended the call and shut his heavy eyes answering the sweet call of sleep.
*Thud*
*Thud*
Mira's giggling could be heard.
"Mira I'm trying to sleep."
"Okay." Mira said back, her voice having unusual clarity. Peter opened his eyes; they adjusted to the morning light and found his room door to be open.
*Thud*
His bow and arrows were missing.
Peter raced out of the room finding Mira arrows in hand stabbing the walls and leaving them in place.

"Mira!"
"Morning." She cheered on stabbing the wall with an arrow.
Peter plucked the arrows out of the wall and swiped the quiver of arrows off the floor.
"Hey." Mira protested, pouting, staring at Peter for ruining her fun.
Peter looked around for his bow.
"Where is the bow, Mira?"
"What's a bow?"
"Oh, god."
Their playtime was interrupted by banging on the door.
Peter opened the door and found the landlord standing outside.
He was a short and stout man with speckles of white in his shaved head.
"Rent is late." Carmen spoke first.
"My mom is currently not here she'll be back with the rent around ten."
"Rent. Now!" He said adamantly.
" Okay, let me just get my phone, yeah?"
Peter rushed to get his phone and came back to the door.
"Alright, how much?"
"6,000 credits."
"What? For a month?"
"You are past due for 2 months."
Peter did not know that rent was not paid. His mother usually takes care of the bills and other things around the house.
"You accept Dent Pay?"
****
"So, what changed your mind?"
Peter sat idly by while his uncle was driving the company truck. "I feel better." The pain of losing 6,000 credits was deep enough to change his decision to go to work today. It was also unknown if rent will be unpaid in the following month. Peter did not want to take that chance.
"Today we go into a dungeon."
"AH a ughghhhh. I think my leg is acting up."
William ignored peter and continued explaining. "It has been a while since we have been commissioned to a dungeon, and it will be your first time in one. But since you are a player now you will be assigned to exterminating threats that get too close to us."
"So, I get paid more?"
William let out a quick laugh. "Yes. but you will get fired if you suck at it."
"One thing, I did not bring my bow and arrows.
"Open the glove box."
Inside the compartment was a 9mm pistol and a box of bullets.
"Know how to use one right?"
"No."
"Just point and pull the trigger just like your bow. Make every shot count that box of bullets cost more than that gun."
