Chapter 16 – Theory!

  Curiosity’s thoughts started spinning.

Categorically, having pristine mana is indicative that a spirit has just spawned. Such a spirit should have no experiend no knowledge. Normally, these two qualities are interected. They have an i link, where oalyzes the other. But when arranged in reverse, it also means that without experience, one have no knowledge.

So why was that not the case with Little Spirit?

Moreover, this didn’t even begin to address the question of why she was afraid of cave-ins, a fear that Curiosity found pletely baseless.

Pgued with tradictory evidence, an uncooperative, votile observation target, and more questions than she could ahe curiosity spirit’s mana rippled with fusion. Once again, her ck of uanding regarding Baby was leavi a loss with what to do.

Suddenly, Curiosity’s mana pulsed in enlighte. What if… the little spirit was always knowledgeable!?

The idea sounded ridiculous, even to herself. After all, how someone who has just spawned already have knowledge? However, the more she thought about the little spirit’s unexpielligend behavior, the more she began to think that this expnation had merit.

As for her unfounded fear of cave-ins… If her assumption that the little spirit had just spawill holds, then curiosity had a theory.

  Hm… I see, I see. Wahaha~!

Since Baby was so smart, I was starting to sider that my observation might be incorrect, and perhaps she might be slightly older than I had inally assumed…

The thing is, when I found Baby, she was in a dark ay caverhere shouldn’t have been anything for her to learn…

So, for her to figure out so many things, in such a short time, regardless of her circumstance, would only be possible if she had some kind of prior knowledge…

The curiosity spirit bubbled in curiosity. Unfortunately, even with her amaziive skills, stelr reasoning skills, and super high intellect, she couldn’t e up with any pusible expnations. With only the information she had avaible to her now, this was as far as theory would take her. Just to be certain she wasn’t overlooking anything obvious; she trated the ey of her spiritual perception otle spirit.

Without any forewarning, Chara’s intuition bred, warning her of danger. However, before she could figure out what was wrong, the ominous feeling had disappeared. She looked around with fused vigince, but aside from herself, the curiosity spirit, and the procession of diamonds, her surroundings were utterly barren of movement.

After using the process of elimination, she narrowed her gaze on the greater spirit, full of suspi.

Notig her gaze, the curiosity spirit swirled ily.

  “…”

  “…”

Once her little observer retracted her gaze, her mana pulsed in dissatisfa. She didn’t find a thing.

How dare you keep me from satisfying my curiosity when you are only a little spirit! is what she initially thought. But only a short time ter, her thoughts had already been repced with, Ahaha~! What a cute, clever, and mysterious spirit. Little Spirit, I will never let you go~! I will unravel all of your secrets!

Sometimes, curiosity spirits could be too sophisticated for their own good.

Unbeknownst to Chara, she had made the critical mistake of making a curiosity spirit too curious. Her mysteriousness, clever acts of resistance, and critical thinking skills had made her captor even more possessive. Her future seemed rather uain.

As for Curiosity, she was overjoyed and had already started making arras. Why the little spirit had prior knowledge was still a mystery, one she was keen on solving, but she was willing to wait. This was because the situation in front of her presented a unique opportunity and oh a very limited window at that.

This is perfect! If it turns out I’m right about the reason she’s worried, then this will be the perfect opportunity to teach her something new. Hue, but this will require a bit of trickery…

Oh well~! I’m sure she’ll get over it once she figures out all her worries were pletely unwarranted. In the meantime, I make her feel better by showing off how cool and amazing I am~!

Somehow, despite being an educator and overing numerous challehe only thing Curiosity had yet to figure out was how to be siderate. Thus, in an unpreted act of betrayal, she decided to make her little student even more anxious!

“Little spirit. Do not touything. It’s very dangerous,” warhe greater spirit in a stern tone, while taking great care to separate all her sentences.

The little spirit jolted, while looking around fearfully. In every direultitudes of crystalliendrils emerged from beh the earth, f into a chaotic ttice of crystals. These formations gradually verged, holding up rger and rger crystals.

In an instant, Chara’s ay started ing up with hundreds of sarios where the bottom-most crystals spontaneously shatter. Then, the crystals right above them would start falling, while crashing into numerous other crystals on their way down, leading to the colpse of the entire cavern in a massive rea.

  Uwaaa!

The little spirit’s fears were immediately rekindled. It was super effective!

Chara let out a jolt before bag away frantically from a delicate-looking crystal shaft that had been to her side. But she ended up bag away so far that she nearly bumped into a different crystal on act, causio nearly go into a panic.

It looks like I was right! She really doesn’t know!

Watg the little spirit’s exaggerated rea, the curiosity spirit was super excited. No longer having any doubts about whether or not her guess had been correct, she burst into a fit of ughter.

Wahahaha! How fortunate. When I realized she might have prior knowledge, I was worried that I wouldn’t have anythio teach her. Luckily, she is very ignorant. That said, she is still very intelligent. I will have to monitor her very carefully. After all, I wouldn’t wao learn anything inve…

Despite all her straints, Curiosity thought her future prospects seemed pretty favorable. Although the little spirit appeared to have a bit of unknown knowledge, there were gaps. This arent even after only iing with her for such a short time. For the self-procimed educator, this could only be sidered good news. It meant she had more to tead more time to execute her pn.

You! Why are you ughing at me!? Chara was indignant, her mana swirling faster and faster.

Finally taking notice of the angry vortex, Curiosity snapped back to reality.

Chara was about to begin a mental shing when she was booped over the head with a mana tendril. Interrupted, her swirling slowed down and she focused her attention on the spirit in front of her.

“It’s okay. Even if this cave colpses, as long as you are by my side, then you have nothing to fear,” said Curiosity in a soothing tone.

That… Is the dumbest thing I’ve heard all day!

Chara was not reassured. She did not believe iher spirit’s words in the slightest. Rather, she just felt like her intelligence was being looked down on.

What are you? Some kind of Sup*r Mah spirit? No! You are only a curiosity spirit! If you’re just going to make a fool of me, then at least put in the effort!

Chara felt very aggrieved. She felt like her well-founded s were being brushed off. Instead, she was being pcated like a child so she would stop pining, but not having any of her s genuinely addressed.

She would not be fooled. To dispy just how angry and fed up she was, she decisively stopped in pd gred at the greater spirit. Unfortunately, because she was still under a speech prohibition, she just ended up giving the impression of a teary-eyed girl who just got bullied but is still being forced to apologize, regardless of her innoce. It was very pitiful.
