Chapter 55: This is not Kyoto Luna!

Harry, Daphne, and Luna appear on a dirt road just outside of pears to be a traditional Japanese vilge.

“See! I told you I could get us to Kyoto in one jump!” Luna states with a smug smile.

Harry dusted himself off, gng around at the serene surroundings. The dirt road stretched ahead, fnked by lush green fields and a scattering of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. The traditional Japanese vilge in the distance seemed like something out of a postcard, with its wooden houses, tiled roofs, and nterns swayily in the breeze.

“I’ll admit, you were right,” Harry said, his tone begrudging but amused. “But did you really have to aim for the middle of nowhere?”

Luna beamed at him, unbothered by the jab. “Middle of nowhere is where the magic happens, Harry. Besides, look at how peaceful it is. No nosy wizards, no Dumbledore, just us and the adventure ahead.”

Daphne adjusted her bag, taking a cautious step forward. “It’s certainly… quaint. But are you sure we’re actually in Kyoto? I don’t see any big temples or bustling streets.”

Luna turolden eyes sparkling with mischief. “Of course we’re in Kyoto! Well, near it. Probably. The magic here is strong, though, isn’t it? ’t you feel it?”

Daphne frowned slightly, closing her eyes for a moment. When she opehem, her expression softened. “Luna how long has it been since you have been to Kyoto?”

Luna’s faces sches as she begins ting on her fingers for a solid sed. “Three turies? Wait wait, I meant millennia” Luna answers before correg herself.

“Why ask?” Harry states looking towards Daphne.

“Well I am asking because I have been to Kyoto before and that is most certainly not Kyoto.” Daphne responds.

Luna tilted her head, her serene smile never faltering as she clutched her wand in one hand aured broadly with the other. “Oh, but it could be Kyoto. Kyoto’s not just a pce; it’s a feeling—a magical essence, a vibe, if you will.”

Harry sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Luna, I don’t think the Ministry or a mapmaker would agree with that definition. Were you doing an impression of Doctor Who?”

Daphne folded her arms, a dry smirk pying on her lips. “You dress it up however you like, but unless Kyoto suddenly moved out to the tryside, and a new mountain appeared from nowhere I think we might have a problem.”

Luna tapped her , seemingly unbothered by the scrutiny. “Well, perhaps I overshot—or undershot—by a little. Time makes locations blurry, you know.”

Harry frowned, gng at the quaint vilge in the distance. “So, if this isn’t Kyoto, where are we?”

“One way to find out,” Luna states as she begins to walk towards what is obviously a human vilge.

As the trio approached the vilge, the air seemed to hum faintly with an otherworldly energy, a sensation Harry couldn’t quite pce but which prickled the edges of his awareness. The vilge ahead looked perfectly ordinary at first gnce—wooden homes with thatched roofs, small gardens bursting with seasonal vegetables, and vilgers going about their daily lives. Yet something about the pce felt... it was old… Everything here was extremely old, even that umbrel on the side of the road had to be well over 300 years old, afterall it had a magical presence..

Daphated, pulling Harry back slightly by the sleeve. “This pce doesn’t feel right,” she murmured, her tone cautious. “It’s like the magic here is... old. And wild.”

Harry nodded, sharing her unease. “Yeah, I feel it too. It’s not like the magi Britain. This is... different. Like nothing I have ever felt before.”

Luna, however, was unfazed. She strolled forward fidently, “It’s not just the magic that’s stra’s the people who make the magic feel alive. Isn’t it wonderful?”

Daphne groaned softly. “Luna, I think your idea of wonderful might get us killed one day.”

Luna simply giggled, her golden eyes sparkling. “Oh, don’t be silly, Daphhe people here are probably very friendly. Just look at them!”

Indeed, a few vilgers had started to notice the newers. A farmer carrying a basket of rice paused to stare, his eyes lingering on Luna’s wand and Daphne’s fn attire. A group of children pying with a ball stopped mid-game, their ughter fading as they gawked at the strangers.

One brave soul, an older man with a weathered fad a sturdy walking stick, stepped forward. He greeted them with a respectful bow before speaking in Japanese, his voice calm but cautious. “Travelers, wele to the Human Vilge. You’ve e from far away, yes?”

Luurned his bow with a flourish, her tone bright and cheerful. “Indeed, we have! This pce is lovely. It feels so full of history and stories.”

The man’s eyes flickered briefly with curiosity—and perhaps a hint of suspi—but he maintained his polite demeanor. “It is rare to see outsiders here. Have you lost your way?”

Harry, who had been pig up some basic Japahanks to Hermione’s insisten being prepared in a previous life of his, mao reply haltingly. “Yes. We were trying to reach Kyoto. But... I think we’re not near Kyoto.”

The man’s expression shifted slightly, his brow furrowing. “Kyoto? You are far from there. This is Gensokyo. No human here has seen Kyoto in geions.”

Daphiffened. “Gensokyo?” she echoed. “What’s that?”

Before the man could expin, a new voice cut through the air, light and teasing. “Oh, outsiders! How delightful. You don’t see many of those around here.”

The group turo see a young woman with long, dark hair and a red and white shrine maiden outfit standing a few paces away, a faint smirk pying on her lips. She held a gohei—a traditional ceremonial staff—with a casual grace that suggested she wasn’t to be uimated.

“Reimu Hakurei,” Luna said softly, her smile widening as if greeting an old friend. “The shrine maiden of paradise.”

Reimu’s smirk faded, repced by a sharp look of surprise. “You know who I am? You look kinda like Fndre…”

Luna ilting her head as though a curious spe. “Oh, I know quite a bit. But don’t worry; we’re just passing through. No trouble from us.”

Reimu’s gaze shifted betweehree of them, her expressioical but not hostile. “Passing through? Outsiders don’t just ‘pass through’ Gensokyo. How did you eve here?”

Luna twirled her hand idly, her tone as light as ever. “Oh, just a little bit of an act, you know, a left turn at Albuquerque and all. Nothing to worry about.”

Reimu didn’t look vinced. “Magical mishap or not, you’re here now, and that means you’re my responsibility. You’d better not cause any trouble.”

Daphne opened her mouth to protest, but Luna cut her off with a cheerful, “Of course! We’re as harmless as butterflies. Actually I bet some butterfly yokai are actually pretty scary.”

Reimu sighed, muttering something under her breath about “outsiders and their nonsense” befesturing toward the vilge. “e on. You’d better expihing to me. And if you’re lying, don’t think I won’t find out.”

Harry exged a wary gh Daphne before they followed Luna and Reimu as he led them out of the vilge towards forest and away from the big mountain.
