Getting dressed in one of the cheongsams that I was not able to use up until now, I then quickly walked out of my room and down the stairs. Reaching the bottom of the stairs and walking into the main room, where nothing had changed, I made my way into the dining room.

  Mom was already sitting at the table with some food in front of her as the smell of coffee started coming out of the kitchen. The smell was something that was both pleasant as well as something that brought back memories with my entire family as I was the odd one out who never drank the stuff.

  I guess that I should not say that as I would very occasionally drink it, but that was for the benefits and not the taste that my Papa (Grandfather on my Dad's side) described as burnt asphalt. Yet he would still drink that stuff bck every day. My te grandfather would also drink it bck, but in his ter years, he started adding some creamer to improve the taste. I also tried coffee with some creamer to change the taste. However, that did not make me like it any more than I did without the creamer.

  While I was reminiscing and contempting on my dislike of coffee, Yuki came out of the kitchen with a tray that had three freshly brewed cups on it.

  Seeing that, I quickly took a look around the room to make sure I did not miss anyone when I walked in. This caught Mom’s attention, and she asked me, “What is it? Do you not want to drink the gift that was given to you by a goddess?”

  That comment almost caused Yuki to trip and me to struggle for a moment. I did not like coffee, and now I was being told to drink it. The worst part was that Mom was right. It was a gift, and I should have at least one cup.

  Yuki then pced a pte of food and a cup of coffee in front of me.

  Sighing, I reached forward and started to eat my food. Mom chuckled at that for some reason and began to eat her food as well.

  Halfway through the meal, Mom paused and asked me, “Are you not going to drink your coffee?” This was because I had not even touched my drink the entire time we were eating. Now that it was being pointed out, I had to force myself to drink the ‘burnt asphalt’.

  Picking up the cup, I brought it to my mouth before hesitating slightly, but Mom was watching me the entire time, and I had to drink it. Opening my mouth and trying not to breathe through my nose, I tilted the cup back and waited for the unpleasant taste.

  The moment the warm liquid touched my tongue, I braced myself for the experience. Then, my brain finally decoded the signal from my taste buds, and I recognized the taste of a milk tea that I had only once in my life. It was an amazing tea and I wanted to try it again at some point, but this was not how I was expecting that to happen.

  The next time I took a sip of the coffee, I thought of a different tea that I had once before, and the taste of the coffee changed to match it. This was simply incredible, and before I knew it, the coffee was all gone. The system then gave a small notification.

  Seeing that, I felt that it was a bit strange as I knew that it was coffee, but I did not rely care that much about it.

  I then quickly finished my food and went to rush out of the house as I remembered that I could get the next set of manuals from the library. I also might find some clues to that unique space in my tails.

  Watching me do this, Mom set down her food and picked up her cup of coffee before following me out of the house. She then asked me, “Where are you going?”

  I nearly tripped over myself when I heard this. Turning around, I gave Mom a small smile before saying, “I was heading to the library to get the next set of techniques.”

  My response did not get much of a reaction out of her for a few moments. She then asked me, “Do you want me to take you there?”

  Hearing her question, I started nodding my head and agreeing multiple times. This got a small chuckle out of her, but she still raised her spare hand, and we started floating in the air, heading toward the town. That was when I got a notification from the system.

  Mom did not fly as fast as st time, but we were still going fast enough to reach the library within five minutes. The reason we went to the library was that Mom did not care about flying in the no-fly zone this morning. I do not know why that was the case, but regardless, we were here, and I ran up to the elder guarding the library.

  This time, the elder sitting there was a different one than the one who was here the st few times. However, the moment I approached the area where the elder was sitting, there was a fsh of light, and the original elder was now standing there.

  He looked at me with a smile on his face and quickly said that I could enter and grab any of the manuals from the third floor that I wanted. This was exactly what I was here for, and I could feel my tails start to wave around behind me. It was almost like I could not control them.

  Anyway, with permission granted, I ran to the doors and immediately made my way up to the third floor.

  I felt like I was bouncing up the stairs about halfway up, but the allure of the new manuals was too great for me to care.

  Bursting into the room and startling a few of the others sitting off to the side and reading, I immediately made my way to the shelves and started grabbing some of the books to pce in my inventory. I also received another system message.

  I ignored this message as the books mattered more.

  Of course, the sight of me pcing manuals into what the others must have assumed was a spatial storage device made the others agitated. However, when Mom walked into the room after me and walked up to the shelves to grab some of the books off them, they calmed down slightly.

  It was not enough to stop their curiosity and one of them came up to ask Mom about what was happening, but it was at least not enough for one of them to forcibly stop me.

  I got to about two-thirds of the way through all the shelves when a new notification from the system popped up in front of me.

  Ignoring it, I kept going through all of the shelves before darting out of the room and down the stairs. I felt like I was forgetting something, but if I had forgotten it, then it must not have been anything important.

  When I reached the bottom floor, I ran out of the door and came face to face with Lou Xia and the Sect Master arguing with each other. It was also at this point that the final system message came.
