After 2 days of digging I finally reached the desired length of 80 kilometers. Even if the pit is wider than deep, it looks deeper than wide form the perspective of a sapient. They can imagine size horizontally better than vertically.
Let’s begin with the groundwork of the layers. The first one, the one where you enter the floor is going to be a jungle. The stone base of it has been created. Now I need to layer it with dirt and rocks. After layering a thick layer of dirt on the stone with some rocks jutting out. I started to think what type of plant do I need to add. I can use the ironwood trees as base for other trees, if I could control the mutation more I could do that. Or just mash 2 of my plant together to get unique creatures.
The creatures will be the firebeetle, without fire. The raptors, or at least a few variants. Some birds would do nice as well. More insects. Maybe some cat like mammals. Ah I shouldn’t forget mushrooms, they will make the biosphere more stable. In some of the wetter spots I am going to add some amphibians. This should be good for now, later when I get stuff for that I shall add some stuff to the mountains.
In the mountains I add some source crystals that create some basic ores, iron, copper, sulfur, tin, Ect. The amount I created is minor not too much.
Then let’s get to the first actual layer. This layer will mostly be the same as layer 0, but without trees. I made it so that there are some pathways down in the upper part of it. The upper 2 kilometers of the layer. Each layer is 10 kilometers or so. Maybe one or two longer. After the 2 kilometers you needed some climbing gear to get down.
The majority of this layer will either be grass filled or any other ground covering plant. Moss would be too slippery and the light will be too much for the moss as well. Moss will still be placed but less. The middle part is more of the same some pathways but you must climb. Some hidden caves are created and the such.
The last 2 kilometers slowly become more walkable. In here I will create a forest of a ground covering plant taller most sapients. The ground becomes horizontally again for around 1 kilometer before dropping down into the 2nd layer.
The second layer was going to be made of crystal. Creating pillars of giant crystals, I am going to make some that covered the entire width of the pit. A 100 kilometer crystal. Some geodes and other crystal structures shall be made. Some crystal pools that if touched deposit a layer of crystal as it dries. Very annoying if touched. In this layer crystal creatures and plants shall be made. And some special resources as well, like crystalline metal. I figured out how to make that. Some metals become see trough and still retain some of their normal traits. With the downside of being slightly more fragile.
Then at the lower part of the layer around 2 kilometers it abruptly becomes more flat. For 25 kilometers from all sides to the middle. In those 25 kilometers I was thinking of creating a crystal forest and layered pools made of crystal. Then in the middle the entrance to the 3rd layer.
The Descend. A 20 kilometer almost smooth descend. I made some tunnels in the side of the wall. Giving a way down. Most of the tunnels do not connect so the adventurers still have to use the Descends walls. In the tunnel I am going to add some larger openings for some more unique biomes and treasures. Most of the tunnels themselves range from two meter wide to half a meter wide, with some smaller. In the Descend I am going to add some big flying creatures for the danger. In the tunnels not so much. Plant live in the Descend will be none existent, maybe some moss in the tunnels or some ferns in the tiniest cracks in the walls of the Descend.
At the end the of the Descend layer 4 starts. The layer widens to a 110 kilometers. Forcing adventurers to climb over the roof. What shall I put on there to help the adventurers to down. Maybe some plants, or something I have heard coral. Coral growing upside down, but the coral requires water. How do I get water up there. Maybe with one of the upgrades of the gravity source crystals. Or with plants that produce a lot of steam. I will figure that one out later when I have decided what upgrade to choose. Then at the walls of layer 4 begins layer 5.
Layer 5 is less steep, but is very much slanted. The slanting makes it so that at the end the pit is 90 kilometers wide. In the 5th layer I am going to add big plants that produce a lot of water or steam. The ground will be covered in a acid. The acid will be produced by a plant and kept there by either plants or stepped pools. Forcing the adventurers to use the big plants. There will be spots that have dry space since filling a space this steep fully with acid, is nor feasible.
Then the 6th layer, the layer where I am going to put a puzzle. The puzzle is there to prevent someone to just jump or fly to the end. This layer I am going to fill with pretty much all the dead bodies. Letting them rot, creating a good nutrient rich “soil”. This concept is going to be reused in a later floor, But then the dead won’t really rot. So every dead corpse that has been left alone for a while, let’s say 3 hours will be teleported here. Including adventurers and other non-dungeon life. So first I created really big creatures a amphibian, raptor and drake. Some of The bodies I created where big enough that they touched both sides of the wall. I created stone protrusions to hold the bodies. The created lifeforms immediately died, mostly form their internal organs getting crushed by their own weight. Most of the bones where held up by the stone protrusions.

This created enough space for the dead bodies to fall on. Then I made a thick metal lattice form the strongest metal I could produce at that size. Creating holes not big enough to let a kobold though. The lattice holds the 6th layer up and lets execs blood and other liquids fall trough. In the middle of the lattice I made a gate the sizes of my core which I then sealed with a gate. The creation of the creatures and plants here shall be done later.
When the lattice and gate were finished a thick stream of blood flowed through the lattice ending in the layer below, the 7th layer. That layer will I finish after creating the life and other detailed stuff in the other layers. For now most of the layers are just barren, minus the three giant corpses in the 6th layer.
Now I better start shopping for new plants and creatures. Let me see what I need. I made a list of plants and creatures that I needed, and added rewards for them.
- Grass like species; 1 gold bar
- Undergrowth plant (not grass) 1 gold bar
- Several tree types (If possible jungle) 5 gold bars, 25 if jungle
- Cat like creatures (bigger better) statue of gold, one statue per group
- Mushrooms (more of the ones that decompose), 3 gold bars, 9 bars if good at decomposing
- Birds (any will do) 8 gold bars for non-flying, 16 gold bars for flying, 32 gold bars if jungle bird.
- Insects (jungle variants best) 1 gold bar, 2 gold bar if jungle variant
- Crystalline plants? (or something like that) 1 meter sphere of (gem you want)
- Carion eaters; 15 gold bars (not insect)
- Non sapient dragon-like species; will give big reward
- (all life must be below lvl 10 to get reward)
This is a good enough list for now. Let me post this on a board near the entrance of the dungeon. So I created a 5 by 5 meter “board” made of granite. On which I carve my list in, hoping that some people will do these quests. Slightly in front of the slate I put a big marble basin lifter a meter of the ground. On this basing people can add creatures and plants. Then I made the ground around the basin into marble. I made it into a circle with the words “If you want to give creature or plant, leave this marble circle and wait.” Making it so that as long no sapient is in the circle, I can inspect the life in the basin and let me create the gold in the basin.
{Acquisition guild member}
As I was walking into the dungeon with my guards to transport some good to the outpost. I saw a big stone wall near the entrance. This peaking my interest I went to it. I saw when I was close enough that it is a list. A list of creatures and plants the dungeon wants. “Little courier can you quickly go outside and grab a bit of mountain grass and some clover? I will give you 2 silver pieces.” The slightly impoverished teenager hearing that he might get some silver quickly ran out of the dungeon. After climbing out and into the dungeon with some grass and clover. He gave it to the guild member.
“Let’s see if this works.”
The guild member puts the grass on the basin, stepping away after putting it down. After a few seconds 2 bars of gold appeared.
“It seems that it is true, here have your 2 silver pieces.”
The Little courier gladly took the silver pieces, which he then quickly hid on his body.
{The dungeon core}
Well that was quick. I mean the grass and clover where just outside of my entrance., but I do think that I just forgot to check if there were seeds in my dungeon. Seeing now some grass is growing where there is some thick layer of moss. It would seem that I need to pay more attention if a new lifeform enters my dungeon and leaves the aura of a sapient. Checking if I forgot any plant or fungus that entered via adventurer. Not finding any I went to check on the 2 I just got.
Lvl 2
Blue mountain grass
Mana: 0/0 Regen: 12 mana per/day
Species traits [Photosynthesis], [Lesser Cold Resistance], [lesser bladeleaf]
[lesser bladeleaf]
This trait gives the ability to have sharp leaves
+50% sharpness (leaf), +25% rigidness (leaf)
Interesting trait, it give the grass to be more rigid in the winds and makes it harder to be eaten by herbivores. Would not want to walk barefoot on this grass. While my old scaled feet would protect me, it might still hurt.

Blue mountain grass
Mana: 0/0 Regen: 12 mana per/day
Species traits [Photosynthesis], [Lesser Cold Resistance], [lesser bioluminescence]
[lesser bioluminescence]
This trait gives the ability to emit a faint, steady glow.
+50% light emitted
Heh? Bioluminescence? Have I not watched the valley when it was nighttime? If there is a lot of clover the entire valley should glow. Looking outside of my dungeon I saw that it was still daytime. This trait can definitely help me. The bottom of the pit was getting dark already, even without adding stuff that gets in the way. So let me just create a skyalgea with this trait. Letting the skyalgea free in the pit they started to float all around the middle. I set a rule that after a certain amount of lightalgea exist 99% die and the 1% brightest get to live. Giving me eventually a very strong glowing algae.
I really need a way to get quicker mutations and upgrades without using a very quick reproducing lifeform.
