Chapter 154: How Much Did the Director Pay You?

Chapter 154: How Much Did the Director Pay You?

  “Excellent.”

Alex nodded in satisfa as he observed the se before him through his psionic vision.

After undergoiic restructuring by Lurana, the Xenomorphs’ bat style had evolved signifitly.

While their inal methods relied oh and assassination, it often cked coordination and strategy.

Without a hive leader, the Xenomorphs were essentially lone wolves, with minimal cooperation at best.

Now, ied into the Swarm, the Xenomorphs had ied the Swarm's bat experience, being colder, more ruthless, and far more strategic.

Gohe primal roars of traditional Xenomorphs—now, they acted like professional assassins and soldiers, focused solely on aplishing their objectives.

The Swarm's hive mind had dramatically enhaheir efficy, making the Xenomorphs’ natural evolution seem ughable by parison.

No wonder, after all these years, they had yet to form a civilized species and were merely treated as prey for the Predators.

Clearly, they hadn't worked hard enough on self-improvement.

Satisfied with his creations, Alex was about to withdraw his focus when his psionise suddenly detected several lifeforms entering the pyramid.

  What’s going on now?

Curious, Alex shifted his attention to the intruders.

Upon seeing who they were, his eyes widened in surprise.

Outside the pyramid, heavily armed soldiers were preparing to charge in with murderous i.

Judging by their formation, they were pnning a full assault!

How much did the director pay you guys to put on such a show?

Seeing the soldiers storm into the pyramid, Alex was momentarily at a loss for words.

He had assumed that fear would drive these people to flee, but instead, they had summoned reinforts aurned for more?

Is life really so unappealing to you?

At this point, the pyramid was crawling with threats: the three Swarm-modified Xenomorphs Alex had unleashed, eight or nine regur Xenomorphs, and two Predators hunting indiscriminately.

Yet these mere mortals, armed only with guns, dared to charge into such a death trap.

Perhaps they truly had a death wish.

“First squad, secure the sacrificial chamber.

  Sed squad, block the passageways.

Third squad, scout and search—find those damned intruders and elimihem!”

Unfortunately for Alex, the private armed forces of Weynd Industries couldn’t hear his sarcastientary.

The expedition team, too, remained clueless about what had killed their panions.

Adding to their ay, there had been no unication from Team B, left behind in the sacrificial chamber.

Their st transmission was filled with screams, after which all tact was lost.

This pushed the expedition team into a desperate state, prompting them to join Weynd’s armed forces iering the pyramid and heading for the sacrificial chamber.

“We ’t open this stone door from the outside.

We’ll have to bst it open!”

  “What?”

One of the archaeologists ieam immediately protested upon hearing the captain’s suggestion.

“Do you even uand what you’re saying?

This is a moal archaeological discovery—oh, damn it.

Fine, but you’re only bsting one side!”

Despite his frustration, the archaeologist relutly ceded, prioritizing human lives over preservation.

The soldiers quickly set up a small explosive charge.

With a loud boom, the stone door was blown open.

  “Everyoay alert!”

As dust and debris settled, the soldiers of the first squad raised their ons, aiming cautiously at the newly created opening.

After firming that nothing unusual was amiss, they proceeded cautiously into the sacrificial chamber.

What they saw left them utterly speechless.

  “Oh my God…”

“What happened here? Who are these people…?”

The horrifying se in the sacrificial chamber left everyone—soldiers and explorers alike—wide-eyed and pale-faced.

The previously trapped Team B members were now lifeless corpses.

Their faces frozen in terror, as though they'd endured unimaginable agony in their final moments.

Worse still, each of their chests had burst open, revealing grotesque, bloodied cavities.

  “Ugh…”

The grisly sight overwhelmed some, causing them to turn away ach.

Even Weynd himself, a man who had seen mu his lifetime, couldn't maintain his posure.

This level of brutality was unlike anything he'd entered before.

However, the archaeologist noticed something else.

“Their chests… they're blown open, just like those mummified corpses!”

  “What?”

  His observation shocked the group.

They turo the ptform in the sacrificial chamber and firmed the simirity—the corpses oform also had exploded chests, revealing gaping, hollow cavities.

  What oh had happened here?

By now, even the slowest among them realized that this situation was far from simple.

What they initially assumed to be a flict with rival treasure hunters noeared to be something far worse.

Something was lurking in this pyramid.

“Sed squad here! We've e utack!”

Amidst their growing terror, the radio suddenly crackled with a report from aeam.

Their tone was frantic, almost trembling.

“What the hell is this thing? It’s not human!

We ’t even track their movements… My team is down to three men!

  Requesting immediate extra—now! Aaaaahhhhhh!!”

The transmission ended abruptly with a chorus of screams, followed by dead silence.

  “…………………”

The static-filled radio left everyone in the chamber pale and speechless.

They now fully realized that returning to the pyramid was a grave mistake.

What exactly was going on here?

The protagonists couldn’t grasp the full situation, but Alex, with his “God’s-eye view,” was fully aware of the chaos unfolding throughout the pyramid.

The structure had turned into a battlefield.

The private military force, having split into three squads after entering, faced relentless assaults.

Only the squad apanying the protagonists remained unharmed.

The other two squads weren’t so lucky, finding themselves caught in crossfire between the Xenomorphs and Predators.

The sed squad suffered the worst fate.

Their rearguard was ambushed and killed by a Xenomorph, only for that Xenomorph to be hunted down by a pursuing Predator.

The ensuing skirmish drew the attention of the remaining squad members, who were subsequently dragged into the deadly fight, losing over half their team.

The surviving three didn’t even have a ce to retreat before being casually sughtered by the victorious Predator.

Meanwhile, the third squad fared er.

They had been targeted as prey by another Predator and were now fleeing in desperation.

  “Tsk tsk tsk…”

the age, Alex shook his head in exasperation.

This was far more intehan the inal movie.

How much did the director pay these hapless souls to sign up as on fodder?

The ba of death seemed almost too vish—surely, no expense ared.

  “Ah…”

Watg humanity being mercilessly hunted, Alex sighed.

He issued a and to his Swarm Xenomorphs, instrug them to first deal with their distant "cousins."

At the very least, this might give the humans a sliver of hope to escape.
