Chapter 138: The Furious Battle

  Chapter 138: The Furious Battle

“Damn it, what oh is going on!?”

When Stone arrived at the rear courtyard, the se was already a plete mess.

Alex’s full-force attack had naturally drawention of everyone ihedral. At first, they hadn’t paid much mind, but the intense shockwaves from the csh between Alex and ie sooed the stronger individuals among them. When they rushed to the se, what they saw left them utterly dumbfounded.

The once-beautiful courtyard behind the cathedral was now in ruins, reduced to scorched earth. On this chaotic battlefield, lightning and holy light cshed violently, iwining like two ferocious beasts locked in a vicious struggle.

  Seeing this, everyone was shocked.

They had assumed it rivate dispute, but now it was clear—this was a fight to the death!“That’s ie and Alex... Why are they fighting again?”

Stone was equally stunned. He had sensed something was off when he saw Alex’s expression earlier. Could ie have done something to provoke Alex again?“Die, cultist!”

ie leaped high into the air, surrounded by a surge of thunderous energy that enveloped the entire sky. She raised her longsword, which crackled with tless bolts of lightning. With a furious roar, she sshed downward, and the lightning shot out like a spear, hurtling straight toward Alex.

“You think I’m just going to let you trample on me? You’re dead today!”

Faced with the ining lightning spear, Alex didn’t flinch. Gripping his Void Bde tightly, a radiant pilr of holy light erupted from him, shooting into the sky. Golden lines verged in front of him, f a luminous barrier of holy light to shield him.

  Boom!!!

The lightning spear crashed into the holy barrier, the resulting explosion obliterating the entire garden. Alex snorted coldly as the barrier expanded outward, releasing a shockwave that surged in all dires. At the same time, Alex vanished in a fsh and swung his Void Bde at ie.

  “Not good!”

Seeing this, Archbishop Karl and the others who had rushed from the main hall paled in arm. They quickly raised their hands, ting sacred verses. Golden barriers materialized oer another, f a protective shield around the cathedral. Without these barriers, the aftermath of the battle alone would have been enough to reduce the ehedral to rubble!“Is that... Padin ie? Who is she fighting?”

By now, more people had arrived at the se, their faces filled with fusion as they watched the battle unfold. They had assumed ie was fighting some sort of enemy, but the figure opposite her, radiating overwhelming holy light, was unmistakably Alex.

What was going on? Why were a padin and another supposed ally locked in such a ferocious battle?

And judging by the way they were fighting, this was a duel to the death!

“Stop this immediately! ie! Alex! What are you doing? This is the cathedral!”

Seeing the se before him, Grand Padin Stone roared in anger. Hearing his voice, ie hesitated briefly before shouting back.

“Help me, Lord Stohis Williams is a cultist! He has used dark magic to ensve an angel! I’ve uncovered his wicked scheme!”

“You could call me the demon king of hell today, but I’m still going to kill you, you damn woman! Ikaros, go!”

  “Yes, Master!”

At Alex’s and, Ikaros soared into the sky. As the crowd caught sight of the glowing wings behind the girl, their shock deepened.

  “My God, that’s an angel!”

“Why is there an angel here?!”

Before they could recover from their astonishment, an even more baffling se unfolded before their eyes.

The young man forced ie back with a single swing of his sword. Then, raising his right hand, he pointed forward, summoning several massive fireballs that materialized out of thin air. The fireballs spun and hurtled toward ie.

  “Wait... Is that... Fireball Magic?”

“Isn’t he supposed to be a padin?”

Whether they were knights of the cathedral or nobles, everyog was utterly dumbstruck. But what happened made them question if they were dreaming.

As the fireballs roared toward her, ie gripped her longsword tightly. Lightning surged from her body, and just before the fireballs struck, she vanished in a fsh of light.

Logically, the fireballs should have tinued orajectory and exploded upon hitting the ground. But...

  "Over there!"

Just as ie vanished, Ikaros, h above Alex, suddenly turned her head and poio a patpty ground. Instantly, the fireballs, as if alive, veered at a sharp y-degree angle and once again hurtled toward their target!

  “How is this possible?”

  “How did he do that?”

The mages attending the ba wideheir eyes in disbelief. Fireball magic was one of the most only used spells fes. Due to its power aility, most mages chose it as one of their primary offensive skills. They were well-acquainted with its meics—fireball magic was a non-targeted, wide-area attack spell. Unlike magic missiles, it could not loto a target and would only travel along a predetermined path.

But what had they just witnessed? Fireballs that could turn at a y-degree ahis ’t be real fireball magic!

While Ikaros was weak in direbat, searg and log ontets was her forte. Almost immediately after ie attempted to escape, Ikaros had pinpointed her position and directed the fireballs to strike again. At this moment, the little angel was fuming with rage. She had been minding her own business, quietly enjoyiime with the kitten, when this madwoman attacked her out of nowhere and severed the that linked her to her master—this was a death senten Ikaros’s book!

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

ie, having never entered fireballs that could ge dire, was caught pletely off guard. A series of explosioed, and blinding fmes engulfed her.

  “Stop!”

  “Cease this madness!!”

The onlookers could no longer hold back. While they didn’t know why these two were fighting, it was clear that this was a battle to the death. ie was a divine favorite and the heir to the Castina family. If she died here, the sequences would be catastrophic!

Seeing her allies arrive, ie hastily pulled back, withdrawing her sword. But Alex had no iion of letting her escape. This foolish woman had called him a cultist and had the audacity to attack Ikaros. While Alex still didn’t fully uand the ’s significe to Ikaros, her heartbroken and distressed demeanor had ignited a bzing fury within him.

You think you run? I’ll kill you today!

As ie retreated, Alex extended his hand without hesitation. Dozens of magic missiles swirled into a storm and roared toward his oppo. ie had no time to evade. She gritted her teeth, raised her longsword, and charged forward. With a cry, her sword became cloaked in lightning, and she swung it to meet the ining missiles. One by ohe projectiles exploded in midair, dissipating into harmless sparks.

But for Alex, this was only the beginning.

  Whoosh!

The dust settled momentarily before Alex burst through, leaping forward with his Void Bde raised high. Without hesitation, he swung the bde down with all his strength, aiming directly at ie. This time, ie had no room to dodge. She raised her sword a Alex’s attack head-on.

  g!!

The csh of steel sericity and holy light scattering in all dires. Both batants staggered backward, each forced to take a step away from the other.

  “Die, cultist!”

With a furious roar, ie lunged again, her sword thrusting straight at Alex’s chest. But Alex’s lips curled into a cold smirk. With a flick of his left hand, a dagger suddenly appeared in his palm. He parried ie’s strike with practiced precision.

  g—!!!

At the moment of impact, ie felt her strength drain away. Her body faltered, and she colpsed to her knees. Her right arm, still gripping the sword, went limp, utterly paralyzed.

What kind of dark sorcery is this!?

  “Die, you wretched woman!”

Alex wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip. This terstrike had been a calcuted move, reserved for such a moment. With ie kneeling before him, Alex pressed forward, his sword thrusting directly toward her heart.

But just then, an immense pressure desded from above, crashing heavily onto Alex!
