Chapter 146: quest Mode Activated!
"Hunting?"
Though the group had vaguely suspected this, hearing Alex firm it was still difficult to accept.
After all, they were humans, not animals. Yet, these creatures had captured them and treated them like prey for sport?
"That’s right."
By now, Alex had finally pieced together where he was. He had seen this world before—in a movie. In fact, the moment he saw the Predator’s fad its dreadlock-like hair, he had a faint inkling. And now, it all clicked.
This was the world of Predators (2010), also knoredator Reboot.
The plot was straightforward: the protagonists were captured and brought to an alien hunting ground by the Predators, who then huhem for sport. Eventually, the protagonists turhe tables, using lud iy to survive. pared to the inal Predator and its sequel, the plot wasn’t much different.
Alex even reized Big Nose—he was Royce, the protagonist of the film. That perpetually serious expression on his face was unfettable. Otherwise, Alex wouldn’t have remembered much about such a standard pop flick.
"Predators enjoy hunting intelligent life. They only find satisfa in battling beings with intellect. To them, humans are the ideal prey."
While expining, Alex gestured to the Predator’s corpse with his Disruption Sword.
"As you see, they’re tall, fast, and capable of cloaking themselves. They like to stalk their prey. Their arm bdes are their primary ons, but they also have shoulder-mounted ons. Those ons pack as much punch as an RPG, though they require aiming. Always watch your body—if you see three red dots appear on you, that means you’re targeted. Run immediately."
"How do you know all this?"
Hearing Alex’s detailed expnation, Big Nose’s wariness grew. Alex and Ikaros were already mysterious enough, and now Alex seemed to know all about these alieures. Who exactly were they?
"That’s not something you o know, and I have no reason to tell you."
Alex spread his hands nontly in respoo Big Nose’s inquiry.
"sider this my parting gift. Do your best to survive. I’ve got other matters to attend to, so I won’t be stig around."
"What?!"
The group was stuhey had already felt something was off when Alex described the Predators in such detail, but hearing that he was leaving was even more shog.
After all, Alex had just demonstrated immense power, effortlessly killing a terrifying alieure. His ins might be mysterious, but being near him felt like the safest pce to be.
And now, he was saying he was leaving?
"You’re leaving? Sir, this…"
"Sorry about that."
Seeing their stunned expressions, Alex gave a wry smile.
"I know what you’re thinking, but unfortunately, I have my own busio attend to. I ’t stick around. I wish you luck surviving the Predators and finding your way back to Earth. So, this is goodbye. Ikaros, let’s go."
"Uood, Master."
Ikaros hen gnced briefly at the group before following Alex. As the two walked away, the rest of the group stared at their retreating figures, dumbfounded.
After a moment, someone snapped out of it and tried to chase after them.
"Hey, wait! You ’t just leave like this! Hey…!"
"Enough, stop shouting."
Big Nose sighed and interrupted the outburst.
"They’ve made it clear they don’t want to stay. Shouting won’t ge their minds. Do you think you make them stay?"
"Ugh…"
Hearing this, the group’s expressions stiffened. After witnessing Alex’s earlier dispy of power, they khe truth—even if they had ons, they wouldn’t stand a ce against him.
"So, what do we do now?"
The ponytailed sniper looked flicted, gng back at where Alex and Ikaros had disappeared before turning to Big h her question.
Big Nose could only sigh and shake his head helplessly.
"What else we do? Fortunately, that young man didn’t leave us pletely empty-handed. At least now we know what these aliens are called, their attack methods, and their characteristics. If everything he said is accurate, we have a ce of surviving the Predators’ pursuit! As for what es … we’ll deal with that ter!"
Big Nose ragmatic. Though he was curious about Alex’s identity, he uood that their primary objective wasn’t unc secrets—it was survival. If they couldn’t stay alive, nothing else mattered.
"Let’s move! Now that we know who the enemy is, I swear we’ll make them pay!"
With resolve, Big Nose led the others to tiheir storyline mission. Meanwhile, Alex and Ikaros had already left the group far behind. Although Ikaros had firmed they were on an alie, Alex remained cautious. After all, in his experience, whether in movies ames, anything involving aliens often came with overwhelming power. Until he fully uood the world he was in, it was better to tread carefully.
Now, however, upon realizing this was the Predator universe, Alex was at ease.
Predators? Just a bunch of weaklings.
Of course, if Alex were alone, he wouldn’t be so dismissive. Despite their limitations, Predators were an ielr species with spaceships and advaeology.
But… Alex had the Zerg.
No matter how strong the Predators were, could they pete with the Protoss? Aiur fell, and you’re tellio worry about these guys? Alex had beeing where to unleash the Zerg, and now it seemed this Predator world was the perfect choice.
In the Predator universe, the most formidable known batants were the Predators themselves. Alex wasn’t sure if Prometheus lore art of this world, but even if it was, their teology wasn’t particurly advanced. pared to the Starcraft universe’s three fas, no known civilization here could pare. Given enough time, the Zerg would undoubtedly bee the sole rulers of this world!
And Alex had no moral qualms about invading the Predators. They werely saints, stantly hunting humans for sport. It was high time they experienced what it felt like to be prey.
"Preparations plete."
Having made his decision, Alex opehe Dimensional Codex and activated the [Homend] mission. A system prompt immediately appeared before him.
[Zerg Mission "Homend" is about to activate. firm this dimension as the mission site?]
"firm!"
Without hesitation, Alex gave his answer. As he did, the Dimensional Codex trembled violently in his hands.
"Boom!!"
In an instant, a massive oval-shaped bck portal, nearly five meters tall, materialized before him. Lines of information appeared in Alex’s vision.
[Mission target dimension firmed. Homend mission activated.]
[quest Mode initiated.]
[Mission objectives updated.]
[The Swarm desires a homend, and as their leader, you must provide them with a pce to thrive. This new world will bee the Swarm’s . (pletely occupy the target p. When occupation reaches 100%, the mission will be plete. Upon pletion, the dimension will bee a free world. Rewards: 1 random skill + solidification of the Swarm's Heart skill.)]
As the task updated, a figure emerged from the portal. Mirrorn, the Zerg Queen, stepped forward, l her head respectfully before Alex.
"Master."
"You’re here."
Alex the Zerg Queen before him.
"As promised, I’ve found a nd suitable for the Zerg to settle. From this moment on, I and the Swarm to fully mobilize and quer this p!"
"Your will, Master!"
