Chapter 166: An Unexpected Development

  Chapter 166: An Ued Development

Building a greenhouse wasn’t particurly difficult given the alchemy level of this world, but the problem y in finding a material to repce pstic film.

Initially, Alex had pinned his hopes on Nanali, but it didn’t take long for him to realize his mistake.

"Deep sea leviathans… dragon wings… subterranean spider queens…"

Looking at the list in front of him, Alex was at a loss for words.

"Miss Nanali, I believe I was very clear about my requirements. We need a transparent film that retai and moisture, insute against the cold, and provide warmth. But… what are y to make here? A diviifact?"

Even Alex could tell that most of the items on this list were from legendary creatures. Setting aside whether they could even obtain them, what use would they have?

"But… but acc to your description, I thought these would be the best options!"

  "But it’s not practical!"

Alex sighed, setting down the list.

He gestured toward the brown-haired girl in front of him.

"Let’s take dragon wings, for instance. Even if we mao sy a dragon, how much area could a single dragon wing cover once verted into film? More importantly, this isn’t a oime deal! This is a long-term business. We might o sell thousands or more iure. Where would we find another dragon then? Not to mention the cost—do you realize how much time and mo would take to sy a dragon? And even if we brought one back, it’s not like dragon hide be easily processed!"

Initially, Alex had thought Nanali’s ck of business success was due to bad luck.

But after w with her, he discovered that both Nanali and her mother had the same issue: whehey ied something, they immediately thought of using the best materials without sidering other factors.

The problem was that such rare materials were impossible to mass-produce!

Besides, I’m just trying to build a greenhouse. Why does your list make it feel like I’m izing Mars?

  "My apologies…"

Hearing Alex’s response, Nanali finally realized her mistake.

She lowered her head dejectedly arieved the list.

Alex sighed again and turo the small angel beside him.

"Ikaros, do you have any good suggestions?"

  "How about this, Master?"

Ikaros, who was flipping through the Encyclopedia of Magical Beasts, bli Alex’s question and turned her book around.

Both Alex and Nanali stared at the page in surprise.

  "… Slimes?"

" such a low-level creature really be useful?"

  Nanali’s first rea was skepticism.

Slimes were such low-tier creatures that they were practically the bott of the food in this world.

They typically inhabited dark forests and caves.

Weak and harmless, they were so useless that even meraries had no i in hunting them.

  But for Alex, this wasn’t a .

"They survive by dev moss and decayed matter, have soft, estic bodies… regur bdes struggle to harm them… and they thrive in areas with abundaation…"

Reading the Encyclopedia’s description of slimes, Alex thought for a moment.

  "Let’s check it out."

  Finding slimes was easy.

In fact, the caves around the town were home to plenty of them.

These slimes were numerous but posed little threat.

Their attacks were weak, and their movements slow, so even the vilgers didn’t bother with them.

It didn’t take long for Alex and his group to locate the "legendary" slimes.

  "So this is it, huh."

Alex frowned slightly as he looked at the slimes.

The slimes in this world looked nothing like the cute, squishy creatures he remembered from games.

They resembled writhing blobs of mud.

While they ed anything from pnts to rotting corpses, they were slow-moving and incapable of hunting rger prey like animals or humans.

Lag fur or skin, their surfaces were covered in a slimy, muddy yer, making them appear even less appealing.

  That said, slimes wereirely harmless.

When attacked, they would release a paralyzing toxin to incapacitate their enemies before slowly abs and digesting them.

The process was somewhat simir to how pythons or spiders ed prey.

However, the slimes’ toxin was weak, only effective against small animals like rabbits.

For Alex, this was hardly a challenge.

Even the small angel, who had little bat ability, could easily hahem.

Only someone like Nanali, a physically fragile alchemist, would struggle with these creatures.

  "Spsh!"

Alex casually waved his hand, and a water ball materialized in the air.

The water ball spshed onto the slime, washing away all the muddy grime on its surface, leaving it spotlessly .

As the yer of mud was cleared, Alex finally got a clear look at the slime’s true form—it resembled a semi-transparent jellyfish without tentacles, appearing more like a quivering water balloon.

Slimes had no visible eyes or simir sensory ans, and even the encyclopedia didn’t expin how they perceived their surroundings.

But Alex didn’t care about that.

He approached and thrust his sword into the slime’s body, watg as the once-bulging creature shuddered violently and colpsed in an instant.

A slime’s life core was a small orb within its body.

Pierg this core would kill the slime instantly.

“Ikaros, analyze these things and see what they be used for.”

  “Uood, Master.”

Hearing Alex’s request, Ikaros k beside the slime’s corpse, pg her hand on it.

Her eyes began to emit a bright glow.

  “…Sing biological surface… Analyzing core… Initiating sedary parsing…”

After a moment, Ikaros blinked and stood up, looking at Alex with a cheerful smile.

  “Master, it’s done!”

“Judging by your expression, I assume the results are good?”

Seeing the small angel so eted, Alex raised an eyebrow.

Ikaros was usually very posed, and she rarely showed this level of excitement unless she was entirely fident in her findings.

  “Yes, Master.”

  As expected, Ikaros nodded happily.

“Based on my analysis, these slimes perfectly meet your requirements.

Their outer membranes are highly suitable as substitutes for pstic film.

Additionally, I discovered that the liquid iheir bodies is highly nutritious and be used as fertilizer.”

  “Oh?”

  Alex’s i iqued.

He hadn’t anticipated su ued be!

Fertilizer was undoubtedly a valuable resource.

No one would pin about having too much produce.

Nanali’s mother had created a chemical fertilizer that passed the Alchemist Association’s rigorous standards, which was an impressive feat.

But her biggest fw as a researcher was ign cost efficy.

Without affordable produ, her work couldn’t gain widespread use.

Slimes, however, were a pletely different story.

These creatures were easy to kill, abundant in number, and even simple to breed.

Upon learning about their potential from Ikaros, Alex immediately decided to establish a slime farm upourning.

But before that, he had another pressing matter to address.

“I’ll leave the rest to you, Miss Nanali.”

Alex o help Nanali advance her alchemist ranking.

If he merely submitted the slimes’ applications to the Alchemist Association, they would only be reized as raw materials.

Their true value as alchemical products would only be realized after proper refi.

While Alex and Ikaros had some i in alchemy, her of them had any expertise in the field.

For now… they could only rely on Nanali.
