Chapter 23: Speculations

As the two were walking through the first-floor corridor aering the Great Hall, intending to approach Dumbledore, the doors of the hall suddenly burst open.

The newer was her than Quirrell, who had disappeared from their sight earlier, heading upstairs. He looked utterly terrified and shouted, "Troll — in the dungeons — thought you ought to know." With that, he rolled his eyes and colpsed on the floor, unscious.

The two exged a gnce, seeing fusion in each other's eyes.

The dining hall immediately erupted in screams, with young wizards falling into chaos.

It was a troll after all, a creature capable of taking out several adult wizards with a single swipe!

Dumbledore had to use his wand to emit several pierg sounds to get everyone's attention.

Glenn also keenly noticed that Sanding beside Dumbledore, suddenly ged his expression and, without a sed thought, turned and quickly ran towards the stairs leading upwards.

Once everyone had quieted down, Dumbledore calmly issued his orders: "Prefects, lead your Houses back to the dormitories immediately!"

Glenn and Hermione didn't follow his instrus. Instead, they pushed against the flow of people, squeezing their way towards Dumbledore.

Harry, sharp-eyed, noticed this and asked Ron, "Where are they going?"

Ron, who had only retly been freed from the Leg-Locker Curse, couldn't care less about Glenn and Hermione. He'd rather those two stayed far away from him. He replied offhandedly with a hint of spite, "Maybe they're going to apply to fight the troll. What's it to me?"

  At the professors' table.

"Professor!" Hermione finally mao squeeze through the crowd to reach them, calling out to Dumbledore in a low voice.

"Hermione? What are you doing here? It's dangerous outside now. Quickly, return to the Gryffindor line!" Professonagall, seeing the young witch approach, spoke up in arm.

Goodness, what was her student doing here at a time like this?

Glenn's small frame finally mao squeeze through as well. He could have used force to knock over the surrounding fleeing students to create a path for himself, but he thought it unnecessary. The troll had already bee with, so there was nent need.

He made a sileng gesture towards Dumbledore, who uood and waved his hand, creating a sileng field that surrouhe group of professors and the two young ones.

He sehat Glenn and Hermione might have some discovery to share.

Glenn noticed Snape's abse felt rep was more important at the moment. "Hermione and I discovered the troll at the jun of the first-floor corridor and the dungeons, and we've already dealt with it."

This statement shocked the professors. Professor Sprout, the head of Hufflepuff, seemed about to say something, but Glenn stopped her with a gesture.

"And I reasonably guess that there's something wrong with Quirrell. This troll was released from the dungeon by him. At the time, Hermione and I were hiding in a , secretly. We saw him hurrying away, as if he had some urgent business, heading upstairs. Shortly after, the troll emerged from the dungeon."

Professonagall's face turned pale, and she covered her mouth in hoodness, you actually... entered the troll alone. How could you... Are you hurt?" She hardly cared about Quirrell at the moment; her primary was the dition of the two young ones before her.

"We're fine, Professonagall," Hermione quickly responded on Glenn's behalf, gesturing for him to tinue his report.

"The troll's body is still in the depths of the first-floor corridor. I believe we should immediately detain Quirrell," Glenn said seriously.

"You even killed the troll?" Professor Flitwick was stunned. He suddenly felt he couldn't quite reize these two students who had performed so excellently in his css.

Dumbledore's expression remained calm. "We will hahis matter properly. But there might be more to Professor Quirrell's situation. We 't jump to clusions. Perhaps he was simply frightened away by the escaped troll."

Glenn didn't believe this at all. He could sense Dumbledore's hesitation, and it seemed like he nning something. This expnation might fool a young girl, but not him.

Hermione, obviously, was relieved. She thought that although Quirrell was strange, how could someoh ill iions be hired by Dumbledore as a professor at Hogwarts?

Moreover, with Dumbledore here, this was the safest pce as long as he remai Hogwarts.

Hogwarts was the safest pce, after all!

But Glenn was different. He had firmed at the start of the school year that his feeling wasn't wrong. When Quirrell and Harry made eye tact, there was indeed a strange soul energy eg between them, even if just for an instant, but Glenn had still captured it.

The way Quirrell looked in the corridor just now clearly showed purpose; he definitely wasn't scared by the troll.

Leaving such a potential threat within Hogwarts, what exactly are you pnning?

Glenn's eyes, beh his bck silk, seemed to pierce through the barriers before him as he gazed deeply at Dumbledore.

This is first-year Glenn~without ach~AI-geed image, the hands look strange~

Although I don't know what you're pnning, just don't let it get out of hand and affect us.

"Although this i was dangerous, thankfully you're both safe. And because of your brave as, I'm awarding thirty points each to Gryffindor and Slytherin!" After rec from her shock, Professonagall finally emerged from her state of horror. The two young wizards before her were unharmed, and Magall also remembered not to view these two with the same lens as ordinary people. She had subsciously thought of Glenn and Hermione as just two ordinary, powerless first-year students.

Moreover, seeing that the two were unharmed, she took the opportunity to aoints. After all, she liked both children very much, and awarding points this way wouldn't affect the petition for the House Cup between Gryffindor and Slytherin.

  Very fair (happy)

Professors Flitwid Sprout also nodded, approving of this point-awarding behavior. At this moment, Hermioiced something amiss and asked, "Where's Professor Snape? Why isn't he here?" The professors were unclear, and Dumbledore's expression remained unged, but Glenhat this old bee Dumbledore definitely knew where Snape had gone.

But he also knew Dumbledore wouldn't reveal it.

Seeing that Hermione was about to ask more questions, Glenn held her back. "Since Professor Dumbledore and the others have made arras, I'll escort Hermione back to the Gryffindor on room now." With that, he pulled Hermione away, intending to leave.

"Wait," Dumbledore called after them. The two turned back. "I'll have Fawkes take you back. We're not sure if there are any other situations within Hogwarts right now." In a fsh of fme, a phoenix appeared on Dumbledore's shoulder.

The two, of course, reized Fawkes. After all, they had visited Dumbledore's office quite often before, and through feeding him treats, they had bee quite familiar with the phoenix.

Fawkes flew to Glenn's shoulder. Glenn took Hermione's small hand, and with a cry from the phoenix, they disappeared in a burst of fme.

After the two left, Professonagall looked worriedly at Dumbledore. "What should we do ? Quirinus..."

Dumbledore's expression remained calm as he replied softly, "For now, things are still under our trol. I'd like to tinue to see if he really is..." His expression darkened slightly, his twinkling blue eyes hidden behind lowered eyelids, but he didn't tinue. Instead, he ged the subject, "Let's take Quirinus to the hospital wing first, then go retrieve the troll's body. After firming there are no more dangers, everyone otify the students in their respective Houses that the danger has passed." He decisively issued instrus, leading the group towards the unscious Quirrell.

Meanwhile, in the Gryffindor on room on the eighth floor, chahe young wizards hadn't returo their dormitories but instead gathered in the on room space, enjoying the Hallowee that had been interrupted before it could begin.

A burst of fme suddenly appeared in the ter of the on room, attrag the gaze of all the little lions. Under everyone's watchful eyes, Glenn emerged from the fmes holding Hermione's hand. Looking back, Fawkes had already vanished.

  Glenn: ......

What about me? Isn't my safety important? Dumbledore, you old bee, were you pnning to let me walk from the eighth floor to the Slytherin on room in the dungeons by myself?

  Polite Glenn: Your mother

Everyone looked at the two in surprise, with many lions' eyes sparkling with curiosity and envy.

Damn, how did they mao walk out of thin air from the fmes? That's so cool!

  Wow, that's fug awesome!

Hermione realized she was still holding Glenn's hand and quickly withdrew it, her face turning red. But seeing Glenn, a Slytherin, alone in the Gryffindor on room didn't seem right, so she relutly pulled him over to the group of girls that included her roommates. After all, they wouldn't reject Glenn.

Besides, she was starving now and really wao eat something!

Not just her, Glenn was hungry too. They had spent the eernoon walking around and had taken down a troll, which had ed a lot of energy.

Hermione had her friends shield them from the curious gazes of the other little lions, and they began to feast on the grand diogether.

Mercilessly abandoning Hermioo face her friends' inquiries alone, Glenn slowly ehe delicious Halloween dinner while p the day's events.

Snape had hurriedly left only after Quirrell came to the Great Hall announg the troll's appearance. He ran upstairs, clearly knowing something.

When Quirrell released the troll, he also purposefully ran upstairs. Iime between his disappearance from Glenn and Hermione's sight and his appearan the Great Hall, his range of activity couldn't have been te...

The troll... was it perhaps used to buy time for him to search for his target? But this doesn't seem to have been very effective. Even without Glenn and Hermione's intervention, giveroll's normal pace, it wouldn't have entered anyone in the first-floor corridor during the time it took Quirrell to achieve his goal and reach the Great Hall to annouhe troll's prese wouldn't have bought any time at all...

...Unless... Quirrell himself was also hindered by something, failing to achieve his goal, and had to return early to resider his pn.

This sario seems to be the most reasonable expnation.

So... bining the avaible information... the timeframe, Quirrell's pace, upstairs... the special events of this year... Quirrell teag this year... Dumbledore's warning, the fourth-floor corridor, and what Harry and Ron discovered during their night wandering - the monster behind the door.

Glenn believed he had deduced the truth.

Sihe clues lined up, he would assume this for now.

After Quirrell released the troll, he hoped to use it to attract everyone's attention while he went to the sealed door in the fourth-floor corridor to do something. But the monster inside blocked his way, so he had to return early and pretend to faint. That's why the troll didn't serve its intended purpose of distra. As for Professor Snape... he must also know what's behind that door, which is why he rushed over, probably to check the situation inside.
