False Hero: Chapter 2 – Discarded

  Kiera_Yanagi

The searing pain in her chest sharpened, spreading through her as if her very essence was being unraveled. Yuki could feel her body slipping away, a visceral sense of detachment gnawing at her mind. This isn’t real. This can’t be real. The thought cwed desperately at her unraveling consciousness, but the sinking weight in her core argued otherwise.

Her instinct to survive roared in her mind, primal and unyielding. She could feel herself disintegrating, each fragment of her identity slipping through her fingers like grains of sand. No! This can’t happen to me. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t… The words echoed, but even in her thoughts, they felt small, futile.

Her thoughts began to blur, the edges of her mind fraying into a void of emptiness. Memories and emotions, the core of who she was, faded like forgotten dreams. What did I do to deserve this? The question pulsed faintly in the recesses of her mind, a desperate plea to the abyss.

Her trembling form felt heavier with each passing second, the st vestiges of her strength faltering. I don’t want to disappear... I’m still here... I’m still me... Yet, even as she clung to that notion, her sense of self seemed to dissolve further into the nothingness. A buzzing sound began to fill the remnants of her mind.

A foreign sensation rippled through her unraveling consciousness—a flicker, a jolt of something unfamiliar. It wasn’t like the cold, clinical commands of the system but something... alive. The faint glimmer of hope was as terrifying as it was comforting. Someone… is there someone there?

The pain in her being surged as her essence was abruptly pulled back together, each fragment stitched into pce with brutal, jagged force. It was agonizing, raw, and unrelenting, but amidst the torment, Yuki felt an unfamiliar warmth as if an unseen presence shielded her from total colpse. Why? Why are you helping me? The question echoed faintly, whispered even yet remained unanswered, but that thought alone was enough to keep her mind from slipping away entirely.

Her essence trembled violently as the conflicting energies surged through her. Where numbness once dominated, searing, visceral pain now raged. Her thoughts fractured, splintering into fragments as she fought to hold on to whatever remained of herself. Please… make it stop… Her plea wasn’t directed at anyone; it was a fleeting wish whispered to the chaos.

A force pulled at her essence again, more forceful this time. It wasn’t a gentle salvation—it was mechanical, cold, and unrelenting, like shattered gss being forced back into shape. The process tore through her, leaving only jagged edges in its wake. Why is this happening? The thought barely formed in the cacophony of pain and noise, yet it persisted, a fragile thread in the storm.

[Notice… System Update Avaible… Granting Access.]

[System Updated. Welcome Back User Yuki Kisarag

New information surged into her fragmented consciousness. It was overwhelming, incomprehensible, but undeniably present. Soul Data? Update? What- does any of that mean-? Her thoughts spiraled, grasping for understanding in the chaotic flood of commands and terminology.

[User Yuki Kisaragi Has Been Granted Access to the Champion System.]

The final commands cut through her confusion like a bde, leaving her stunned. Champion System? Infernal System? The words echoed hollowly in her mind, den with meaning she couldn’t grasp. What is this? Who’s doing this to me?

The suffocating darkness shattered, repced by a maelstrom of light and shadow. Her reconstructed form was thrust into motion, raw energy tearing through her being. When the motion ceased, she found herself sprawled on cold, cracked earth, her body trembling and weak.

The oppressive sky above was streaked with shadowy tendrils, the air heavy with alien wrongness. A voice, smooth yet cold, whispered from the void, filling her with dread with the sound of it's one voice with the force of a thousand:

[Welcome to your new reality, Outcast. I expect great things from one of Her Fragments.]

Fragments? Was the final thought that flickered across Yuki’s tired mind. Before it all faded to bck. However as she felt her mind slip away she saw a single sentence appear before another system window from her mysterious savior.
