The Gher Cap: Epilogue–Footnote

On one distant isolated planet, far away from all the chaos of the homeworld, the Breegans who lived there went a different way than their cousins.

They would start biohacking themselves into bizarre creatures that could do all kinds of weird things and try to outdo each other. Eventually one Breegan philosopher decided that ignorance was bliss, so he removed his self awareness and started a new race of Breegan animals.

But that experiment was kind of weird.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Another scientist postulated that Breegans were happier in their pre-evolved forms. So he and a team terraformed an entire world that was exactly the same as pre-modern Breegans, then biohacked their DNA with their ancestors and leaped out of a helicopter, landed in the jungle, and disappeared.

They had planted cameras all over the planet.

The intention was for the Breegans to sit back from their home world and watch. If they liked what they saw, they could (for a fee) participate in the experiment themselves.

Of course, none of them did. They had altered their DNA and fundamentally changed into a race of helpless warmongerers.

Good day to you. My name is Kien, and I am the sentient curator of this facility.

This wonderful building is the Old Lam City Museum of Culture and Science, funded by His Majesty Himself. Now if you look down at your Pentalibra, you will see a little glowing screen. Have you got it? Good.

Now, in case you have never used a Pentalibra before, I will give you a swift run-down to enhance your user experience.

As I am sure you know, Pentalibra are programmable, multifunctional, mobile devices. As such, they can serve many purposes. The Pentalibra which you hold in your hand is very much a museum guide. You can use it to toggle between various exhibits.

Here at the Old Lam City Museum of Culture and Science, we have a wide variety of exhibitions for your enjoyment, from the myths and legends of our very own rich Cannesian heritage to ancient stellar histories of space-faring civilizations who once lived far, far away from our humble little planet.

As of this writing, all available exhibits are displayed on your Pentalibra. To continue to an exhibit, simply click the corresponding CONFIRM key.

If no choice is made, you will automatically continue to the program’s default exhibition, A Brief History of the Gher Cap, by scrolling below.
