Early night

  Daisuke POV

  I reached the knights office. Seeing me, a knight nodded and opened the door. I went in and saw Heather with few knights.

  Daisuke " Good evening. Is everyone here?"

  Heather " Good evening and yes. Ones, who serves here."

  Daisuke" Alright. Now, please tell me where such incidents had happened. Is it only this section? What about wealthy and slums?"

  Heather" There were few in the beginning. That's why, walls were made. Now, none."

  A male knight..

  Knight" As for public section, there are some incidents but only due to carelessness. As for slums, we don't have much details."

  I narrowed my eyes.

  Daisuke" Why? What about mists?"

  Same male knight...

  Knight" It's because of mists! These are so thick there."

  Looks like, my hunch was right.

  Daisuke" As I thought, slums are the source."

  Heather " Expin."

  She has a demanding look.

  Daisuke " I think someone or something is responsible behind the mists. Tonight, we will figure out going into the thickest part of the mists in the slums."

  After some moments...

  Heather" Make preparations."

  She ordered her knights.

  ......

  Almost midnight

  Daisuke, Heather and her knights reached a pce which has thickest fog. It was an empty area with a broken house.

  Daisuke " Fog is thickest here. Meaning the source of mists is inside the house."

  Heather" Correct. Everyone be on your guard."

  Knights became alert. After checking the house, they figured out that only 5 persons can go inside. So, Daisuke went inside with Heather and her knights.

  Rest stood outside to guard the entrance. House was heavily damaged. So, they were walking carefully. Soon, they came across a dead end.

  Knight " Huh?"

  Heather " What's going on? It's empty."

  Daisuke looked around and his Thief traps settings gave him a clue. He sat down and knocked on the ground in a certain area. One such area give a shallow noise.

  With a smile, he checked, then pressed the area in a certain manner that a secret door opened.

  Knight " What?!"

  Heather " I will like to know how you know that."

  She said with a smile.

  Daisuke" Everyone has a fair share of secrets."

  He went in and others followed.

  ......

  Mid night

  Trap door was linked to a long tunnel. After carefully walking for two hours, they see an opening. Daisuke motioned Heather and others to wait.

  He moved forward and saw that the tunnel was linked to a basement like room. A dim light of ntern was visible and 9 men armed were sitting there.

  On a table, a sculpture of cm was present. Mist was coming out from it and coming towards the tunnel. Daisuke went back.

  Daisuke " Captain. We have reached our target. There's a sculpture pced on a table which is source of mists. There are also 9 men with iron swords. Meaning, someone is backing up this."

  Heather and knights were astonished. After looking at her Knights and thinking, she sighed.

  Heather " We will take them down but we need reinforcement."

  Daisuke" No, it could be te or they could hear the knights marching."

  Knight" Then, do you want us to die?!"

  Daisuke " No. I have a pn. I will be first one to get in and will gain thier attention. When I will be busy fighting them, you will come out from behind. It will surprise them and we will use it against them."

  Knights were baffled and Heather was giving a meaningful smile.

  Heather " I like the pn and I really want to know what type of studies, you have received."

  Daisuke" As I said earlier, everyone has their fair share of secrets."

  Then, Daisuke turned around and moved to the basement. Reaching there...

  Daisuke " What's going on here?!"

  Men got startled.

  ???" Who are you and HOW DID YOU GET HERE?!"

  Daisuke was moving towards the other corner facing them.

  Daisuke " Well, just someone. Who wants to know what is going on in the town?"

  ???" Well. Too bad. Your curiosity will kill you. Go!"

  Seeing his equipment, three men rushed towards me. But he moved forward sshing them in half.

  ???" WHAT?!"

  Daisuke " Do you think a weakling will have courage to be here."

  ???"EVERYONE! LET'S KILL HIM!"

  When six of them rushed towards me, Heather entered with the knights. Their armours noise attracted attention and baffled the men.

  Heather and her knights engaged with men and Daisuke moved forward while sshing a guy towards their apparent leader. Who ate something and fell with foam coming out OF HIS MOUTH?!

  Daisuke" This seems far deeper than it looks."

  Daisuke turned around and saw that others have won. Heather saw him with the dead person and come with shocked look.

  Heather " What... happened?"

  She was looking at dead guy turning blue.

  Daisuke " He suicide when saw that I was going to capture him with my looks. Must be someone with experience. Looks like someone was backing up this afterall and his suicide suggests he's loyal to his master. The perpetrator behind all of this."

  Heather has a really serious look.

  Heather" Haah~ At least we got the artifact."

  Aaahhh!

  They turned around to see a knight being jolted by the sculpture.

  Daisuke " Looks like it can't be dispced by others or at a certain time. You decide either to wait or destroy it?"

  Heather saw knights helping the fallen knight.

  Heather " Destroy the foul sculpture!"

  Daisuke moved forward and sshed it.

  Ssh!

  Daisuke " Only a half cut?!"

  Ssh!

  In second swing, he destroyed the sculpture which turned into dust?!

  Daisuke " Okay... That's give a bad vibe."

  .......

  After that Daisuke investigated the basement and found nothing. The only thing they learnt that basement was connected to the forest behind slums.

  So, they returned in te night. Where Daisuke went back to tavern and Heather went home before ordering knights to bring back the bodies.

  Near dawn

  Daisuke entered the tavern and walked towards his room. Reaching there, he knocked on the door for three times.

  Kachak!

  Door opened and Isabel was standing there a little sleepy. He went in and removed his gear.

  Isabel " Master. Let me help."

  Raising his hand...

  Daisuke" No. I am okay. Just tired and going to sleep. You sleep too. I will tell you what happened ter."

  He id down on his bed and Isabel too id down on her bed after locking the room. She soon fell asleep looking at her Interesting master.

  Late morning

  The town which was called Vibe due to lingering suspicious fog during the day, saw and felt a new morning. Because it's a morning without the mists.

  Yes. The fog has gone. People were both astonished and gobsmacked. Some of them including the people of public section and wealthy section went to the Knight corps.

  But when they demanded answers. They were told that Lady Febia Kua Nib will release the official statement about the current events soon.

  So, please have patience. But people want to know what or who is behind the scenes because of whom the fog has been cleared.

  Afternoon

  Heather came out of her room yawning. She was too sleepy after st night's raid. Even though she has just woken up, she still feels sleepy.

  Febia " Finally! You are up. You have any idea what kind of situation outside is."

  With a smile...

  Heather" Yes, I have. Fog is gone, isn't it?"

  Febia " Yes and I am barely holding the people from coming here. Now, tell me what happened st night."

  Sighing...

  Heather sat down on the sofa and started the tale of what happened st night. During which her mother's eyes widened many times. After some time, Heather was sipping tea to completely wake up.

  While her mother was holding her head.

  Febia " To think that someone was...no is involve in all this. The fog which thought to be a supernatural phenomenon was actually linked to an artifact."

  Heather" I know. I, myself can't believe it still that I have experienced something like that."

  She put her cup on the table. Her mother looked at her.

  Febia " I want you to contact, Daisuke. Ask his opinion on this, how we should handle this? It is making me confused but thinking about his unknown experience. He might have a solution and it will help me realise of his true worth."

  Heather" Alright mother. Then, I will leave as soon as possible."
