VOLUME 10 – SOUND OF TWILIGHT (Epilogue)

Three days ter, "my" `Sound of Twilight′ reopened.

We still sold cotton candy, but I couldn′t make it myself, so I found a street vendor from the neighboring street to work part-time at the shop. Thankfully, this new helper didn′t charge much, and the cotton candy tasted okay. It wasn′t as creative as the ones Mu made with her Yaokai magic, but it still sold.

However, the real money wasn′t just from selling cotton candy. Don′t forget, I also read Tarot cards. I′ve become so proficient with this tool that I no longer need any magic to use it. With the cards in hand, I help the confused customers find their lost pets or offer useful advice to those who are troubled in their hearts, collecting a few small red envelopes along the way. Life like this isn′t bad at all.

The death card that Mu left me, I pced on my dresser in the most conspicuous spot in the bedroom.

Of course, I pced it upside down because it always appeared in the reversed position.

Reversed Death Card—death leading to rebirth.

I′ve always read Tarot cards for others in this way.

I think I still have a knack for business. At least, after a month, the revenue of `Sound of Twilight′ was quite good. More people came to me for divination than came for cotton candy.

Many of the customers who had been taken by `Sound of Twilight′ returned to `Endless′. They said the sweets there were still better. Although I no longer seemed to have any direct connection to `Endless′, hearing such feedback still brought me some comfort.

Ren Xiaocheng and the little chubby one sometimes came by `Sound of Twilight′, but I believe Mu really erased their memories.

Though they could never remember the dramatic events that once happened in their lives nor recall the yaokai who fought so hard to save them, as long as I could see their young, bright faces and watch them continue to live well in this world, I felt like this business wasn′t too much of a loss.

One day, Pang Zi and Shou Zi came by again. These two guys, still as sleazy as ever, used the excuse of buying cotton candy to ask for my phone number. Of course, I eventually chased them out with a broom.

I distinctly heard Pang Zi, clutching his head as he scurried away, say to Shou Zi, "How come this boss dy is fiercer than our boss dy?"

I quietly chuckled and cpped my hands. How many people in the world could be fiercer than your boss dy?

As for what will happen in the future, I don′t know. Even though I have the Tarot cards, I′ve never thought about reading for myself.

Am I afraid? How could I be? In the dictionary of a Sagittarius tree yaokai, those two words don't exist.

I simply believe that it′s the countless uncertainties of the future that give life its meaning. As long as our genuine nature doesn′t change, our goals remain steady, and our hopeful expectations remain intact, life will always hold significance.

In `Sound of Twilight′, I hung up a couplet I had written myself. Well, okay, let′s just call it a couplet.

The first line: "Heaven made me with purpose."

The second line: "A fortune lost will return again."

The horizontal inscription: "Embrace whatever comes."

At the bottom, I added a little smiley face I had drawn.

No matter whether I am the owner of `Endless′ or `Sound of Twilight′, no matter how my appearance may change, I am still me. The tree yaokai Sha Luo, a Sagittarius, was born on a snowy December day at the peak of Fulong Mountain.

And of course, I am still certain that the battle with someone—well, that was just the beginning.
