Soooo we are just going to ignore the fact that I beat my poor father down with a single strike last night, uh? Man, I never expected that I could just do stuff like that and be fine in such a backwards society. Mom is still mad at me and my father, well, he is still knocked out cold, sleeping while I am sitting at the Chief's table once more this time alone without my father.
"I get that your mother is still quite angry at you for self-defense, but trust me, kid, she'll calm down in a few days, don't worry." The Chief mentioned that his wife and daughter just sat there knitting some sort of sweater or blanket, but I couldn't really tell the difference.
"I don't know, Chief, I messed up pretty bad. I get that it's my right to defend myself, but I feel like I overcompensated." I answer back to the Chief, who just takes a big sip of his ale, just to follow up with a laugh and a snarky comment. "Well, it's not really your fault to be so damn strong now is it? If I had those godly spirits like you, I would also find it hard to wield, just don't think much about it.
Yeah, Yeah I guess the Chief was righht I mean I did just want to test out what the counterstrike would look like, I wasn't really expecting it to knock the fuck out of my dad! If I had known that my strenght would send him into a small coma, then I wouldn't have done it.
"So what do I do now? I can't just hang out with you guys forever." I finally broke the awkward silence with a fair question, as I truly had no plan going forward. I mean, this small body might be strong, but I know basically nothing about life in this new world. I have no previous knowledge of their rules or thoughts on their economic world.
If this new world worked like the modern world, where I just get a good job, work, and then pay bills to survive, then I would be alright. But this world doesn't even have a McDonald's yet, much less what we would call a 'job' for everyone, as it seems like all that's available is 'farmer.'
It's crazy that the entire town basically just does that. They all just farm and yet get to keep a tiny portion of their harvest, with most of it eventually getting taxed and taken away by the rich, and yet nobody complains about it! What the heck!? If someone took over 50% of all I made in a year, I'd be pissed!
"Well, I suppose we could expedite the town hall meeting to vote for your departure to the magical academy. I truly think you'll do phenomenally in there. I mean, for you to be able to do that to your father, you have to have some crazy stats!" The Chief goes on again with his compliments directed at me that I didn't particularly like.
Stolen story; please report.
Based on the Chief's comments, I can dismiss him as the person who appraised me last night, but then, if it wasn't him, who else in the village would have the resources to buy a one-time-use Appraisal stone? From what I've heard, those things are insanely expensive.
Should I tell the Chief somebody who appraised me then? No, I doubt he will know anything about it, besides, whoever did probably just wants to keep an eye on me. I suppose that's not so bad, but it is a little strange to get myself appraised as I discover the ways this world works, isn't it?
[I sense that you have a gut feeling. Would you like me to help?]
The system voice continues on my train of thought, activating itself in the middle of something. "Not now, voice inside my head," I say out loud, which seems to confuse everyone at the table. They look at me funny for a second until I realize that they probably cannot hear the system's voice.
"Voice in your head? What are you talking about?" The Chief inquires right after I slip up, forcing me to answer with the truth, as I tend to be a pretty terrible liar if I am being honest. "The voice that talks to me since last night, you know, that system voice that tells me about my skills and your guy's?"
The Chief and his wife both seem quite dumbfounded for a couple of seconds until the wife speaks for the first time, being the one who figures it out first. "You hear the divine voice?" the wife asks me, to which I reply, "I guess? I don't know if it's divine, but it's there, and it tells me about anything I ask at a moment's notice and stuff."
"I can't believe it! Things just keep getting better and more promising! You Kenta! You will be the one who liberates our people! To have Appraisal at your age! Boy! Many just spend their whole lives trying to get the skill!" The Chief finally intervenes, followed by an enthusiastic request from him as he grabs my left arm with his right hand.
"Please, please, read my stats and tell me!" The Chief insists on me appraising him, to which I reluctantly agree since I didn't want to have to tell every single stat and skill out there in the world. [You won't have to tell them with verbal input, I can display the reading through your hand afterward]

Eh? What the hell!?! Why are his stats not way above mine? He is level 55! Isn't he supposed to be much stronger because his level is higher!?
[Not everyone starts off with the same amount of initial stat numbers and level-up multipliers; your multipliers are fairly high.]
Okay, I guess I am fairly high on the stats, but tell me, just by how much do they grow per level in this world, you know, regular people?
[The average growth rate for peasants in this world is around a multiplier of 1.00000025% per level]
So basically, nothing, that's what you're telling me. Uhm, so how high is my multiplier?
[So far, you've increased an average of 1.25 per level.]
..... How is that fair?
[It isn't]
