Chapter 7: Blood Hand

Liu Sen had just stepped onto the slope when a white deer came rushing towards him, its rider dismounted three zhang away and bowed, saying, "Young Master, the Isnd Master requests your presence."

Grandfather's residence was the highest point on the isnd, but entering it, one wouldn't feel it was high at all. This highest point also had ft ground, and it was very spacious. More than twenty people stood quietly, with an elder standing at the forefront, his back to Liu Sen, facing northwest. His hands moved slightly, and with the howling wind, accompanied by piercing shrieks, the leaves and branches of a tree in front fell off. Wind magic!

Liu Sen was amazed, it was just like the invisible sword energy, even more impressive than described in martial arts novels!

The wind gradually ceased, and Kerse slowly lowered his hand, seemingly having finished his magic. A bird flew from the left towards the sea, just over the heads of the crowd, when Kerse suddenly raised his hand, and a sharp whistle rose from the ground. With a light sound, blood spttered in the air, and the bird was accurately split in half!

The crowd cheered wildly, among them a voice said, "Grandfather, I don't understand!" It was Alto, standing next to his grandfather.

"You don't understand how I could still kill the bird after my spell stopped, do you?" Kerse said.

"Yes... Grandfather always taught me that... spells are the key to using magic!"

"This is the difference in magical levels!" Kerse said. "Every time the spell stops, the connection with the magical elements is retained for a moment. As long as your affinity with the magical elements is high enough, you can deliver a fatal blow to your enemy when they let their guard down, even against a strong enemy, turning defeat into victory!"

Everyone was immersed in these words. This was the magic of magic, and also an experience against enemies. If the enemy only focuses on the magician's spells and sees them stop, they will naturally rex and will not be able to guard against a final strike!

Kerse looked around with satisfaction, his voice slightly raised, "Akrus, your turn!" His gaze fell on Liu Sen's face.

Liu Sen stepped forward, "Grandfather, have you forgotten? I don't remember my magic anymore!"

"It doesn't matter!" the grandfather said. "What's forgotten is only the spells, but the affinity with the magical elements within you won't be forgotten. I will teach you the spells again!... Everyone, step back!"

As everyone stepped back, Liu Sen was thrilled, finally able to learn this miraculous magic. Grandfather's strange chanting reached his ears, a monotonous and eerie cadence. As the chant spread, the air around seemed to change, as if calm sea water suddenly turned into rapids. Why was this happening?

"Follow me!" Grandfather's voice interrupted Liu Sen's distraction, and he quickly focused, following his grandfather's chanting. The first time, he made several mistakes; the second time, the tone was off; the third time, he mostly got it right. After half an hour of repetition, grandfather finally nodded, "Not bad, much faster than a few years ago! Now try it by yourself!"

His spell stopped, and the wind gradually ceased, turning into a peaceful and tranquil sunset.

Liu Sen's strange chanting slowly began, grandfather opened his hands, quietly sensing the surroundings. The first time, there was no movement; the second time, a surprised look appeared in grandfather's eyes, and Liu Sen's face was even more bizarre. As the spell began, he suddenly felt as if a snake in his body, upon hearing a flute, suddenly raised its head. A cold feeling shot out from his heart in all directions, his internal organs seemed to be hung mid-air, violently swaying in the wind. He didn't know where this power came from, but he could feel its strength, enough to throw his mind into chaos before it even fully erupted.

  "Stop!" grandfather shouted.

The spell had already stopped, but the strange feeling inside persisted. Liu Sen struggled to control this conflict, and when he looked up again, his forehead was sweating. He was just about to ask his grandfather, but saw his grandfather's face looking very displeased, slowly saying, "You have lost your magical affinity!" He sensed the outside world; the spell had no issues, but the ck of gathered wind elements meant only one thing: the magical elements had abandoned him! The Wind God had abandoned him!

"Grandfather!" Alto excimed, "It doesn't matter, brother will be the master of Wind God Isnd in the future. As long as he remembers the method of dragon turtle taming, who dares to defy us? Whether he has magic or not isn't important!"

"You know how to comfort someone!" grandfather said. "But, Akrus, can you still remember the secret method of dragon turtle taming?"

Was this comforting? Maybe it truly was, but the timing of his brother's choice was so wrong. Liu Sen helplessly said, "Sorry, grandfather, I can't remember!"

The sea breeze blew strongly, atop the summit, the three stood with their clothes fluttering, faces solemn. Losing magical affinity meant the Wind God had abandoned him. Forgetting the secret method of dragon turtle taming, could it also be fate? Wind God Isnd's traditions dictate: the passing of the dragon turtle taming secret is extremely solemn, only on the day before the typhoon in May each year, after a complicated ceremony worshiping the Wind God's Altar, can it be passed on. Now May had just passed, so until the next transmission time, the young master would no longer be the young master!

Liu Sen was unaware of this tradition, but he knew his grandfather was very upset, a look he had never seen before.

After a while, Kerse slowly said, "As Alto said, magic isn't that important to you. The secret of dragon turtle taming can be re-taught, but... but Akrus, you have changed!"

Liu Sen was startled, what had he noticed?

"I ask you!" Kerse's cold gaze fell on his face, "On your first day on the isnd, you apologized to a ke girl, did this happen?"

  "Yes! Grandfather, that girl..."

"No need to expin!" Kerse interrupted him, "Three days ago, you treated a mermaid's injuries and also apologized to her, did this happen?"

"This..." Liu Sen frowned, "Grandfather, I was just about to talk to you, I think we should..."

"Should what? Perhaps you'll teach me how to peacefully coexist with other races?" Kerse interrupted him, his voice suddenly raised, "Is that it?"

Indeed it was! But under his grandfather's wrath, how could Liu Sen dare to say it out loud.

"Wind God Isnd stands tall in the world with its might. As the young master, how can you be so weak? Once the rules are in chaos, our prestige will vanish. How can Wind God Isnd command the thirty-five isnds and dominate the eight hundred miles of sea?" Kerse's beard and hair were all standing on end, finally erupting, "You... you have greatly disappointed me!"

"Brother!" Alto quickly grabbed his hand, "Apologize to grandfather quickly!"

Ap ologize? Was saving someone wrong? Was it right to treat the mermaid girl so cruelly? Liu Sen was unconvinced, utterly unconvinced. Was prestige built on fear? Could fear sustain a glorious rule? No! It would only lead to endless hatred. His heart boiled with passion, his face flushed with heat.

"Akrus!" Grandfather's face gradually calmed down, "Do you want to regain your lost memories?"

The sea breeze passed, and Liu Sen's face also calmed down, respectfully saying, "Yes, grandfather!" His status depended on his grandfather's affection for him. He could not afford to anger his grandfather. This might be a weakness, but it was also a strategy. Some things need time to change! This statement from his grandfather was also an opportunity.

"Bring them in!" With Kerse's shout, a group of people came in from outside, led by the elder Gita. More than twenty people bowed at once, and Kerse fixed his gaze on Gita, "Have you brought the person?"

"Yes, Isnd Master!" Gita gestured, and the twenty people parted, revealing a figure in the middle. Liu Sen's heart skipped a beat, this girl was the one from the keside, what was she doing here?

"To find yourself, start here!" Kerse pointed at the trembling girl, "Kill her!"

At the cold command, the girl's face turned pale, and so did Liu Sen's. Gita raised his hands, handing over a long sword, saying lightly, "Young Master, please!"

Kerse coldly said, "Killing with a sword doesn't require magic! Even if you don't remember anything, you should still know how to kill! To find yourself, let this sword be stained with blood!"

The girl was so pitiable, was she really to die by his sword? Liu Sen slowly took the sword, pointing it at the girl. Everyone held their breath, including Kerse himself. He favored men of courage, not cowards. To turn cowards into men of iron, only this method would work!

Whether the grandson he loved could come back depended on this sword!
