Chapter 245: The Battle Approaching Its End (Part 2)
"Listen to you spewing your demonic lies here." Master Aiden's whole body started to tremble, and the electric light around him constantly jumped and flickered. He could feel that several blood vessels in his head were on the verge of exploding. "Everyone, ignore her. This woman has definitely been bought by the elves."
"Why don't we all just wait here? Those so-called witnesses of yours are riding air elements and rushing here. Our pegasus was just a bit faster and arrived first." The female mage's voice was not only loud, but its persuasiveness and the intimidating force within it had already firmly suppressed Master Aiden's.
Master Aiden restrained himself from unleashing the chain lightning, already swirling in his palm and filled with his rage; he knew that taking action now would be ineffective, otherwise, even at the risk of being completely suspected by the other mages, he would have turned this woman into a pile of charcoal.
A huge boom and the light of fire came from below; the mages down there could no longer hold on. The summoned elemental giants were all defeated under the relentless attacks of The Withered Wood Warden, and now only attack spells were exploding everywhere, barely managing to hinder The Withered Wood Warden's advance. But this method could not possibly last long.
"Everyone else, stay put. The air mages just need to follow me to save them." Adelaide said loudly, then looked at Master Aiden. "If you dare to ambush me, that's you admitting your own guilt. Everyone, don't be polite to him."
The winged pegasus flapped its wings, carrying the giant circle of blue water curtain, and flew downwards. Several air magic masters glanced at each other, hesitated for a moment, and could only follow down. Even if they were unwilling to believe that Master Aiden was truly the culprit behind all this, they could not neglect going to rescue their companions.
"Quickly, send someone to save Elder Luya. It seems to be in that direction over there. Quickly, send someone." On the War Ancient Tree, several elven elders were as anxious as ants on a hot pan. The War Ancient Tree had already suffered heavy damage. It was completely paralyzed and unable to sense the precise location of the Leaves of the World Tree. The position where Luya had fallen was unfortunately quite far, and it was difficult to determine the direction by sight alone.
The key issue was that the battle group, besieging the mages not far from the War Ancient Tree, was fighting intensely. The explosions from the elemental spells cast by the mages were deafening, a complete mess, and the voices of the several elders were completely drowned out.
Watching Adelaide's departure, the muscles on Master Aiden's face twitched. His bloodshot eyes stared at the female mage's back, as if he wished to stab two holes in her with his gaze. But this time, he didn't seem too enraged. Instead, he turned and rushed down. He wasn't rushing towards the trapped mages below, but in another direction.
The other mages were somewhat surprised by Master Aiden's departure, but no one dared to move. In such an ambiguous situation, it seemed neither right to follow him nor to stop him.
Even though he had been stopped by Adelaide just now, his attention had always been on the two people below. He had always clearly seen where the person who caught the elf was.
Although he was extremely frustrated and unwilling now, truly wishing he could rush up and bite that stinking woman's flesh off piece by piece. He had wanted to do this for a long time, and now the desire was so strong it was driving him crazy. But no matter how angry he got, he still had the rationality to judge, knew the current situation, and knew what he needed to do now.
First, he was clear that the situation he was in now could be said to be very unfavorable. He had completely not expected that this stinking woman would suddenly pop up at this critical moment. Adelaide's prestige in the Tower of Fangs was not low, and this was a plan with considerable flaws to begin with. The mages had already had some doubts about this matter, and with her intervention, they naturally became skeptical.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Although they had been fighting the elves for so long with considerable casualties on both sides, it had not yet reached the point of a fight to the death without end. These mages were not the type who were bloodthirsty and loved to fight. After Adelaide rescued the mages on the ground, it would be even more impossible for the fighting to continue. And if what she said was true, that those several witnesses from the Tower of Fangs had already been brought here, then everything for him would be finished.
But fortunately, all of that was secondary. The most important thing was the Leaves of the World Tree. This was the fundamental reason he planned this operation. As long as he got the Leaves of the World Tree, he could ignore everything else. And Adelaide going to save those trapped mages was the opportunity. Perhaps it was even the final opportunity. So, without the slightest hesitation, he charged directly towards the two people running below.
Ethan was pulling Luya, running urgently in the direction of the War Ancient Tree, when suddenly two Thunderblast Bombs landed in front of them. The earth-shattering explosion blocked the two of them for a moment. Then they immediately saw the figure of Master Aiden slowly descending from mid-air. He was crackling with electric light, his white mage robes fluttering constantly, surrounded by swirling air elements, but his bloodshot eyes and his extremely ferocious expression made him look like a crazed, starving beast.
"It's actually you, you brat? Go die." Master Aiden looked at Ethan, stunned. The electric light around his body suddenly converged into a dazzling bolt of lightning and struck at him.
Ethan did not dodge, merely throwing the knife in his hand forward. The lightning only struck the knife. Electricity danced on the blade, and it actually hovered in mid-air, jumping around erratically, powered by the force of that single bolt of lightning. At the same time, Ethan extended his hand, and a streak of green light flew towards Master Aiden's face.
Master Aiden reached out with a supporting gesture, and the fast green streak of light instantly stopped before him, becoming a ball of green flame. He then raised his hand, and the flame flew up into the sky.
A step slower than the flame he had shot, Ethan also shot up from the ground like a crossbow bolt, charging straight at Master Aiden. He was aiming for the opening when the other party would block or dodge this attack. He didn't go to retrieve the knife still jumping in mid-air, but used his fist instead. Against a mage, no matter how powerful, it was impossible for them to directly withstand a strike filled with Battle Qi.
But he still missed. His fist merely brushed past the corner of Master Aiden's robe.
Master Aiden dodged with the slipperiness of a swimming fish, already brushing past Ethan. Or perhaps it shouldn't be said to be a swimming fish; even the slipperiest fish in water wasn't as agile and free as he was. He was more like a housefly or a dragonfly magnified countless times. He had narrowly dodged Ethan's strike and was now charging straight towards Luya.
Luya was already holding the Leaves of the World Tree on guard. Seeing Master Aiden's figure flash towards her, she immediately crouched down and struck the ground with the Leaves of the World Tree. A patch of grass in front of her shot up into the sky with explosive force, becoming a dense wall of grass in an instant. The originally tender and weak branches and leaves intertwined like steel, baring their fangs and brandishing claws in a jagged, interlocking pattern on the outside.
Master Aiden paused for a moment. If he really crashed into it, it would be no different from hitting a bed of nails. But this was ultimately just transformed grass. He reached out his hand and summoned a wind blade, and the wall of grass immediately fell at the sound of it.
But at this moment, Master Aiden had to slide aside again to dodge and ascend into the air. Ethan, like a bolt of lightning, chopped back at him again. After missing again, he landed heavily, kicking up dust and creating a sizable crater in the ground. And the large tree he had used to push off from for his return charge also slowly cracked and fell. The force of his kick on it had snapped the tree, which was thick enough for two people to encircle with their arms.
Both of them glared at each other, neither moving again. Ethan knew clearly in his heart that he probably had no real chance of killing this old man in a direct confrontation. And Master Aiden didn't move rashly either; the previous dodge had already taken all his strength.
"Give me the Leaves of the World Tree." Master Aiden looked at Luya, saying it word by word.
Ethan sneered. He truly found Master Aiden's words a bit laughable. "Anyone who says such nonsense is an idiot. Please don't lower the class of Diya Valley. If you have the ability, come and get it yourself."
Master Aiden ignored Ethan, merely taking out two amulets from around his neck, breaking the chains, and spreading them in his hand. These were two jade stones carved into different cloud-like shapes. As soon as they were placed in Master Aiden's hand, they began to emit abundant elemental fluctuations and slowly floated up. Tumbling and rolling, they rose and fell in Master Aiden's hand, powered by the release of air elements. These two pieces of jade looked as if they were truly two large clouds from high altitude, condensed and pulled down.
"Why do you people always like to make these dangerous things and hang them around your necks? This is the only thing I admire about you." Ethan shook his head and sighed, he just felt a headache coming on. The air magic fluctuations emanating from those two jade pieces were not just abundant, they were simply terrifying. He knew what they were. The two Necromancers killed by Gru had similar amulets on them. The one called Nimbus's had once turned four thousand heavily armored knights into a pile of mincemeat. And now Master Aiden had two in his hand.
"These two Magical Jade have two top-tier air magic spells sealed within them. One is the Falling Stars I just used, and the other is Thundercloud Storm. You know the power of Falling Stars. Thundercloud Storm's destructive power isn't as strong as Falling Stars, but its lethal range against people is even larger." Master Aiden looked at Luya and repeated again. "Give me the Leaves of the World Tree. Otherwise, I guarantee I can kill at least ninety-nine percent of the elves in this forest, and that of course includes the two of you."
Luya's expression was already not good. She could feel the aura emanating from these two jade pieces, but she still glared at Master Aiden with those eyes that could rarely look murderous no matter how hard she tried, and said: "This is a sacred relic of the elven race. No threat you use will be effective. Aren't you worried that using this spell will also shatter the Leaves of the World Tree? You can't scare me."
