Introduction to Daemonology

"What do you mean?" I asked the Daemon across from me and like a glitch in reality he was out of his suit and into Hawaiian shirt. Sipping from a martini glass he looked at me and once again like a glitch in reality we went from the office building to a sunny beach with white sand.

"Ah, You know I did some studying on your world's history and culture and oh boy did you guys love to have a great party!" The eccentric daemon replied leaning in a chair.

"Uh, aren't you supposed to be telling me about something?" I asked as I sat on a flanking chair.

"Oh, yeah alright well I guess its important to get a baseline on what you already know so please tell me what do you know" He explained as he sipped from his drink.

"Oh, um, let's see Daemons are minor divines typically serving as connections between the mortal and Divine worlds" I explained what I remembered as the eyes of Dothrinoxtin looked at me the unnerving presence he had still remained unnerving.

"Yeah thats a baseline alright, now typically I couldn't tell you this, and you aren't allowed to share it with anyone else not already in the know, and not a light warning like when you tried to communicate the dream to Mr. Welton."the Daemon said stopping to lock eyes with me and for second I felt the hairs on the back of neck stand at attention. Getting his point across he continued.

"Alright, well we Daemons serve as the bottom feeders of the higher plains specifically the Divine plains, think of the mortal plains and the higher realms as a forest. The higher plains are the trees and vegetation, as they decompose their droppings fall down to the mortal plains or in this case the ground. Eventually those droppings are the food of us divines, think of us Daemons as the single cell organisms that refine just the smallest amount." The analogy he used was difficult to put into the context of well reality and the idea of only being a single cell organism was terrifying.

"We sift through the other higher plains leftovers and pick up the nuggets of Divinity from mortals, we each specifically eat the types we are connected to." He explained as he summoned a bowl of grapes on a table eating them like a Roman emperor.

"Okay let me get this straight we're single cell organisms to collect smidgens of divine power in a Divine cycle?" I asked and as with most humans, having our purpose in life summarized into a simple way felt unfulfilling.

"Sorta, yeah although the analogy doesn't necessarily work for every aspect, cause we also grow and eventually we can ascend to higher levels of Divinity, and before you ask no I can't tell you." He shut down my question as it bubbled to the surface.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

"So besides being bottom feeders anything else I need to know or you can tell me?" I asked as I looked at a person who I could only guess as it their power level.

"Okay, well their are other higher plains, and we can learn to harness there scraps and vice versa for them, there are the Eldritch Entities, the Cosmic Beings and us Divine Deities, and then are adjacent realms that try to siphon off the mortal plains such as the hells" he explained creating a list of them on his fingers.

"So, like Weirdeyes?" I asked and as I did the waves nearby distorted for a moment and grew choppy. However Dorthinoxin raised his middle finger and took a sip from his drink and the waves returned to a light blue.

"Another thing names have power, dumbass especially with Eldritch Entities! Dam, also hint you are already learning how to take power form the Eldritch

"Oh! My domain skill, is that what Im doing?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yep" the simple word was thrown out before he stretched.

"Okay anything else" I asked as I committed this place to my memory.

"Not really, oh wait one second, a bit on Daemon culture, most of us lack families as those raised from mortality typically out live their own and some like me weren't born, anyways the rule of thumb is that Daemons weaker than you are seen as younger cousins and those more powerful as older, just like with mortals we back stab each other all the time but still we try to act cordial with one another" he explained and then I processed a snip it about himself.

"Wait you weren't born?" I asked confused as I wondered if he just poofed into existence one day.

"Oh, yeah originally I was a simple algorithm created by the system to serve as a introduction for the young people of the Mortal plains, then eventually I began unknowingly accrued enough Divinity to gain an ego and eventually became a Daemon, infact the City State of Juxia is my personal realm and its inhabitants serve as my worshipers" He explained and I saw a modicum of sadness and distaste as he finished his drink.

"I may be powerful, I may be insane, hell I may be powerful enough to slay gods, and yet I'm a prisoner, my essence, my very being is part of the tutorial and the system will never let me be free" he stated as He sat up, looking at me he offered me a hand up, taking it I rose to my feet. Once again we found ourselves in a different place.

"You're a prisoner?" I asked looking at the Hawaiian and khaki clad Daemon.

"Big time, the worst thing? I can walk out anytime, however as soon as I do I unravel I cease to exist" he explained and as I looked around I saw it was a warehouse with my stuff, my golem, armor, and the Giant corpse of the Bear.

"How do you know you will cease to exist?" I asked him and he smiled the mad gleam shined for a moment.

"You think I'm the first system administrator of the tutorial?" He stated before he disappeared.
