Chapter 15

It's almost eleven in the afternoon and the second day of our five day timer; Yet I'm still just sitting here making sure my client doesn't drown in his own vomit, how many hours will I waste here? I have twelve hours three days and a handful of minutes till this noose of a case strings me up.

The sofa groaned with Alexander squirming as consciousness finally stirred him to meet the consequences of his actions.

  “Ughhhh..”

“Morning Alex, when you feel up to it we need to sp.” clack clack clack

The sharp nocking of metal on wood rang out echoing throughout the manor

  “Are you expecting company?”

Alexander didn't answer me, he merely groaned and writhed some more

Don't know what exactly I was expecting, hopefully tho it's just the other half of our payment at the door.

So with a glimmer of hope I made my way into the main dining room then into the connecting salon and finally the main foyer

The whole trip was accompanied by the click of my black dress shoes on wood and tile interrupted by increasingly impatient slamming of our door knocker.

By the time I reached the door it was an erratic slamming so the moment whoever sat outside stopped trying to put a dent in the front door I ripped it open insuring they didn't try and knock as I opened the door.

However, the young woman that I came face to face with looked as baffled as I was, after all, say what you want about blackwood she knows how to dress her carriers appropriately; However the person currently eyeing me was dressed like she lived in one of those ‘Modern’ coffee places.

Baggy jacket, loose fit jeans and rather chunky sneakers if it wasn't for the clear quality of her apparel I would have assumed she was some random homeless girl who had tricked the AI controlling the gate to let her in.

“Can I help you with something?”

She relaxed a little, her gaze moving to where my eyes should be. “Not sure, I'm looking for Alex, I left a message but he hasn't reached out.”

  “He still lives here right?”

“He dose but I have to tell you he is currently”

Before i could finish she pushed past me like water flowing around a stone slipping into the main foyer

“ALEX, ALEX, WHERE IN THIS MAZE ARE YOU.”

Once my shock faded I moved to catch up with their young woman who was now in the main dining room “Ms”

“Ms, how old do you think i am jeeves , the name is Jessie; ALEX, ALEX, WHERE ARE YOU HIDING.”

She didn't slow talking over her shoulder whenever I tried to talk to her before she started yelling at Alex again, that was until the knocking started once again.

And Riccardo strode thru the door of the salon silver briefcase in hand “Do you know your doors open.”

“ALE… You cheap mobster wannabe!” The girl seemed to have entirely forgotten about Alex and was now marching towards Riccardo war and violence in her eyes.

“Where are, MY CARS!” her fists balled and shook. She was going to try and kill one of an untold army, in my client's house.

I stepped between the two “Jessie, this is a clone of Mr”

“I don't care WHO he is, he and his clone brothers or whatever took my cars!”

She pressed forward not passed me but close enough to show she would if necessary “I'm sure there is a reason they repossessed your cars.”

Riccardo clicked his tongue “I thought you looked familiar, you were the one caring for those cameras alexander lost.”

Jessie didn't back off but she had stopped her murderous advance “What do you mean lost.”

“You know, the fool bet em on kelpie the last time that the knuckle dragger tried to drown a bunch of people in the middle of the city.” this clone seemed far to talkative

“Are you telling me; Alex BET MY baby's on a fight!”

Well, if she wasn't hostile towards Alexander before, she is now; and so it was the perfect time for the village idiot to wander into the dining room sunglasses covering his eyes and a cup of extremely potent coffee.

“Hey, Alastor i don't care if you let people in the house, but could you keep it down.”

Jessise whipped around the fires of war burning in her gaze once again “ALEX!”

And just like that alexander seemed to feel better after all can't run or react with such speed when your feeling, under the weather.

They were both gone before i could react; so i turned to the troublesome clone “is that the, other wharf of our payment Mr. Moretti.”

The clone had a smug smile that seemed to fill his gaze. “Yes this is the other half, plus a small device for reaching ‘Her’ directly as a thank you for a job well done and in case you are ever in need of more work.”

Riccardo handed me the case, his smug smile filling his gaze as he turned and headed out the same way he came in; that was until he stopped just past the threshold of the salon.

“Did you forget something Mr. Moretti?” His head pulled back still eyes watching the ceiling as he was lifted off the ground, the tips of carpet covered fingers tipped with carpentry nails protruding from his back before the arm and corps disappeared into the salon.

  “ALASTOR HELLLP ME!”
