The Call—I Heard You Say

You think I don’t hear you,

  But I do—

I just can’t deal with another loss.

  Tours were hard enough,

  They shattered me so deeply

  I bled for days.

  And yet, you parade

  That I hurt you—

That’s not fair. Did I hurt you? How dare you think so—

  I couldn’t hurt a fly.

But you say I wronged you—

  How? By being me?

  By expressing love for something

  You find it trivial?

Tell me, how? I hear your words, sharp and clear,

  But inside, I’m breaking—

  Torn between who I am

And who do you wish I’d be?

  You call my love trivial,

But it’s the only light I hold,

  A fragile flame in darkness,

  Flickering, yet alive.

Can you see past your pain?

To the heart that still beats for you?

  Or will this silence grow,

Until there’s nothing left to say?

You took away everything from me—

  My friends, my life,

The air I breathed, the wings I had.

I became a bird trapped in your cage,

  Your most prized possession,

  Silent, broken, unseen.

You treated me like I was fragile,

Like I couldn’t stand on my own,

Made me believe the weight of your hold

  It was my weakness—

  And in that cruel illusion,

I lost myself piece by piece.

  But inside, beneath the cracks,

  A fire still burns—

A desperate hope that one day,

I’ll break free and find my sky again.

I spilled my blood to break free from you—

Foolish, I thought the pain would set me free.

But funny enough, all I needed to do

Was threw myself against the window,

So I’d break and become useless—

Just like you said ,I was,

  In your own cruel words.

  You may have caged me,

Made me bleed and doubt my strength,

Took everything I had—friends, life, hope—

But inside, a fire still burns.

Now I stand at the edge,

  Wounded but not broken,

Learning to heal on my own,

And though the cage was heavy,

I’ll find the strength to fly again.

You may have tried to make me useless,

But I will never be your prisoner.
