Chapter 148: The Zerg Battle Against the Predators (Part 2)

Chapter 148: The Zerg Battle Against the Predators (Part 2)

  "Are the Predators this weak?"

Standing before the remains of a Predator that had been torn apart by Zerglings, Alex was baffled. He had seen Alien vs. Predator, where Predators were depicted as super powerful, unfling even against Xenomorphs. Initially, when Alex received the report, he expected to incur heavy losses. But Ikaros informed him that the casualty t was… zero.

Alex: What? Are you joking? Weren’t Predators supposed to be invincible warriors, capable of taking on hordes single-handedly?

To firm, Alex called the Zerglings that had fought the Predator and examihem closely. Sure enough, the Predators were far weaker than expected.

The Predator’s arm bdes, which could easily kill humans, couldn’t even scratch the Zerglings’ exoskeletons—not surprising since Alex’s Zerglings had been upgraded. However, the famed psma shoulder on, glorified in the movies, only mao create a small dent in one Zergling’s armor before the Predator was overwhelmed and dismembered.

As for the Zergling with the dent? It looked like it could just roll over the Creep and recover in no time.

Thinking it over, Alex realized his expectations were mispced.

The Predators in Alien vs. Predator seemed terrifying rgely because Xenomorphs were retively weak pared to the Zerg. If Zerglings were like knights in heavy armor charging into battle, then Xenomorphs were akin to assassins iher armor. Humans could mow down Xenomorphs with a mae gun burst, and while Predator shoulder ons were better than human ons, their effectiveness was limited. They worked well against sneaky creatures like Xenomorphs but were no match for the overwhelming numbers of Zerg.

Moreover, these Predators were here to hunt, not to engage in full-scale warfare. Just as no one goes on a safari with a tank and air support, these Predators didn’t bring their full bat capabilities. What Alex witnessed was not their real strength.

That said, Predators weren’t without devastating ons. Their wrist devices—besides serving as unication tools and ship trollers—doubled as mini-nukes. Speaking of which… where was the wrist devi this Predator?

Fortunately, the Zerglings had only killed the Predator and hadn’t destroyed its gear. It didn’t take Alex long to retrieve the mini-puter from the Predator’s remains. Of course, Alex couldn’t read the Predator’s nguage, but that wasn’t an issue.

“Ikaros, you had decode this thing?”

  "Ugh…"

Ikaros grimaced at the blood-covered device Alex handed her but nodded relutly. It wasn’t that she doubted Alex’s as—Synapse had quered hundreds of worlds—but the device was just… filthy.

"Of course, Master. Leave it to me."

As a digital warfare specialist, Ikaros was far from effective in direbat. But ironic warfare, she was unmatched. Ihan thirty seds, she hacked into the Predator’s devid even located their cloaked spaceship parked just outside the camp.

Naturally, Alex didn’t hesitate to cim the ship as his own. While the Predator’s aesthetic didn’t align with Alex’s tastes—he preferred something closer to Protoss-level elegahis was still better than staying inside a Zerg Hive. Although he didn’t dislike the Zerg, meical creations were more visually appealing.

Ikaros further demonstrated her prowess by hag into the Predator ship’s AI. Through it, she accessed the entire Predator work, unc detailed information about the phe Predators’ ons, the number of their ps, and eveent of their territories.

Once again, teology ower. No matter how strong the Predators were, they were helpless against Ikaros’ hag skills, effectively bowing tital domination.

Armed with this intelligence, Ikaros passed the information to Alex and the Zerg Queen, Miruune. Miruune immediately directed the swarm to rapidly expand and unch attacks on the Predators hunting on the p.

At first, the Predators assumed the Zerg were new prey, thrilled by the challenge. After all, their species thrived on battling intelligent and powerful adversaries. However, their excitement turo horror when they entered the Zerg’s endless waves. The swarm overwhelmed them, and the hunters found themselves outmatched.

What was supposed to be a hunt turned into a nightmare. Who was hunting whom? Couldn’t this be settled with a fair duel?

The Zerg’s response: Sure, we’re fih duels. We’ll just send a horde to duel you one by one. Any objes?

The Predators had objeany, in fact.

While brave, the Predators weren’t fools. Realizing the swarm’s sheer numbers made victory impossible, they sent out distress signals to their homeworld and even attempted to escape via their ships.

Unfortunately for them, Ikaros had already taken trol of the entire Predator work. All distress signals were intercepted, and any fleeing ships were remotely detonated by Ikaros before they could escape. No Mutalisks were even needed.

The lesson: being too reliant oe-trolled explosives without sidering cybersecurity backfire spectacurly.

Ihan two weeks, Alex’s trol of the p surpassed 30%, leaving him awestruck. For the first time, he truly grasped the terrifying, unchecked expansion potential of the Zerg. This wasn’t a small region or a siy; it was aire p—rger thah. Even excluding os and pions unsuitable fe-scale Zerg proliferation, the speed of their expansion was staggering.

The swarm’s activity didn’t go unnoticed by the humans captured and brought to the p.

“We haven’t seen any Predators for days now…”

Standing at the edge of the cliff, Big Nose wiped the dirt off his fad stared at the ruins in the distahanks to Alex and the Zerg wiping out the three Predators, Big Nose’s group hadn’t beelessly hunted like in the movie. However, that didn’t mean they were safe. The Predators had dropped not only humans but also numerous dangerous alieures onto the p, and none of these beings shared a on nguage—with each other or with the humans.

As a result, Big Nose and his group had fought several brutal battles with these alieures, suffering heavy losses. Fortunately, they had entered other surviving warriors from different areas along the way. After several perilous enters, the survivors baogether aually made it to this point.

“In the past couple of days, we’ve entered fewer and fewer monsters,” Braided Hair said, frowning as she stood beside Big Nose.

“They seem to be avoiding something. And we haven’t seen any Predators…”

  “That doesn’t mean we’re safe!”

Another person interrupted Braided Hair. He was a newer to the group and didn’t fully uand what they’d been through.

“I’ve had enough of those bastards. We o find a ship a out of here!”

“And how do you know finding a ship will guarantee our escape?”

  Braided Hair immediately retorted.

“Have you fotten what happeo us before?”

Hearing this, the group fell silent, their faces clouded with unease.

A few days ago, they had mao ambush a Predator squad, setting an eborate trap to capture them and hijack their ship. However, the Predators had broken free and fled aboard their ship. To everyone’s shock, the ship had barely taken off when it exploded in midair, turning into a ball of fire right in front of their eyes.

The i had terrified Big Nose and his team. To this day, they couldn’t figure out why the ship exploded. They hadn’t even gotten close to it. Some had veheir frustration by firing a few rounds at the ship, but ah on sense knew an AK couldn’t blow up a spaceship.

Unbeknownst to them, the explosion was simply the work of a certain angel flig her finger.

“So what do we do? Just keep running until we drop dead? I refuse to die on this cursed rock!”

  “That’s not what I meant…”

Big ried to calm his agitated rade, but his expression suddenly ged. He raised his gun and sed the surroundings, his instincts honed by days of survival alerting him to danger.

  “What’s wrong? Enemies?”

Seeing Big Nose’s rea, the others quickly armed themselves and pressed against the cliff, sing the nearby jungle. But what happened caught them all off guard.

A metallic sphere suddenly flew out of the jungle, hurtling toward them.

  “Get down! Now!”

Big Nose shouted in arm. He hadn’t expected the Predators to use such a on—they had always relied on psma ons and bdes to hunt them.

  “Boom!”

The metallic sphere exploded midair, releasing a thick cloud of acrid gas that quickly engulfed the group.

  Gas! It’s poison gas!

Realizing this, Big ried to get up and escape, but to his horror, his limbs wouldn’t respond. His entire body felt paralyzed. All he could do was watch helplessly as several Predators decloaked, surrounding them.

  What are these bastards pnning?

Big Nose didn’t get an answer. One of the Predators reached for him, and before he could react, darkness overtook him as he fell unscious.
