  Third Person POV:

Brighton was in a lot of trouble.

  Ventus Spears

Spears made of wind were quickly conjured around him, and he wasted no time aiming those spears at the three remaining assassins that were attacking him. They all dodged them with minimal effort and continued their attacks; Brighton could only grit his teeth as he summoned his sword from his storage ring.

He wasted no time parrying the spear thrust that the first assassin attacked him with and smmed the butt of his sword against the head of another assassin that was sneaking up on him from behind.

  Pyro inferno

  Borealis' Wall

A rge wave of fme smmed against a transparent wall of wind as the surroundings around the two attacks either burned or were simply blown away. Brighton had no time to rex; he immediately raised his sword and channeled mana into it before sending various wind slices to the assassin who conjured the fme attack. The assassin didn't have time to react to the sudden attack; resulting in the assassin losing his head, and a geyser of blood shooting out from the dead assassin's neck.

  'One down'

The remaining two quickly regrouping and attacking the young Wenthaiss once more. Brighton wasted no time raising his bde and channeling the wind to help quicken his steps. The two assassins raised their sword and spear; ready to run him through, they were mere moments away from running the boy through.

  Blessings of the Wind

Brighton phased through the two weapons, he didn't miss the opportunity to slit both assassin's throats in the process. Leaving him the victor of the minor skirmish.

Of course, this didn't come without its own repercussions. Using the newly mastered Intermediate ranked spell had virtually drained all his mana; he was exhausted, and more importantly, he was now vulnerable to the threat of assassins.

Looking around, he couldn't help but note that they were outnumbered. It was going to be hard for them to come out of this conflict victorious, the next best thing that they needed to do was to retreat.

"Prepare to retreat! Leave-" Brighton was about to finish reying his orders when he dodged an attack that emerged from the side.

He tucked his feet before rolling to the side and nding on his feet. He already had his sword raised as he stared at his new opponent.

The assassin shrugged off the ice from his foot before channeling enough Ice magic to form a sharp double edged bde.

"Give up Brighton Wenthaiss, you're outnumbered and tired," the assassin stated as he twirled his bde.

Brighton summoned a green potion and popped it open before draining its contents and throwing away the potion bottle. Mana quickly flooded his system again and rejuvenated his muscles as he readied himself for the next battle.

"I wasted too much time with that bck haired brat earlier. He's more resilient than most, but they all fall the same in the end," the assassin muttered before kicking the ground and smming his ice sword against Brighton's bde.

Brighton growled as his feet slid back slightly.

  'This guy'

The assassin was a Skilled Apprentice. Brighton had been progressing rather steadily from an Initial Apprentice, but he had much to go in order to finally cross that border, unlike his opponent, who already was one.

Brighton pushed off the assassin before kicking him in the torso to create some more distance. He took that opportunity to take a look at his sve, who had been lying on the ground, a small puddle of blood had been formed where his head y. He couldn't help but grit his teeth in frustration, in the short time he had spent with that sve, he had begun getting fond to the sve's quietude.

  Frost Spears

  Ventus Spears

Spears of Wind and Ice quickly formed as the two readied themselves for the next attacks. Looking at the assassin's mastery over Ice magic, Brighton couldn't help but acknowledge the danger in front of him.

It was rare to meet individuals who had used sub elemental magic.

The two attacks collided mid air, causing another frenzy of ice and wind to destroy the surrounding area.

The two didn't wait for the attacks to settle, within the mist of ice and wind, the two lunged at each other with their bdes high above their heads. Resulting in the two colliding in the middle of the field; the impact of the collision absolutely blowing aways any remaining ice shards that happened to be nearby.

Once again, Brighton was on the shorter end of the stick, being once again pushed back due to their difference in strength. Brighton channeled more mana to his arms as he pushed him back.

The assassin, who noted the sudden increase in strength, increased his strength as well and ended up blowing Brighton away. He didn't stop there, however, he immediately formed ice daggers and flung them at him.

Brighton gritted his teeth before channeling a small barrier of wind around him to deflect the daggers coming his way. On the bright side, Brighton also saw an opportunity to retreat from the battle.

"Fall back!! All soldiers who can still move retreat and set up a formation near the carriages!! I'll use a spell to hold them off; prioritize your own lives!!!" Brighton roared as he summoned the wind to stabilize his movements.

The other soldiers, upon hearing their Lord's command, immediately started backing themselves towards the carriages. Nearly half of the assassins who had attacked were now dead, but that didn't mean that the soldier's were left unscathed either, more than half of the soldiers were dead; and more than half of the ones remaining were injured one way or another.

The assassins, upon hearing what Brighton and the soldiers had been pnning on doing, immediately set out to try and kill the soldiers before it was too te, but Brighton had already arrived at the soldiers' side. That didn't come without its own repercussions, however, Brighton made the fatal mistake of turning his back to the assassin that he had been battling. It was an opportunity the assassin had been waiting for.

The assassin immediately formed a scythe made of ice and swiped down on Brighton's exposed back. Blood gushed from the young Wenthaiss as he crashed nearby one of the carriages. The assassin, upon seeing that their target was now incapacitated, walked towards the formation of soldiers that had then began protecting their lord.

"We won't let you kill the young lord, even if you have to kill us!" One of the soldiers growled as he held his bde with determination.

The assassins quickly regrouped in front of the assassin, waiting for their leader's next orders.

Brighton coughed out a mouthful of blood before groggily standing back up and summoning a mana potion and a healing potion. He popped both potion bottles open before draining the two potions of its contents.

A warm feeling began pouring into the gash on Brighton's back as his body surged with even more mana. His stamina, however, was completely depleted. He had gotten just enough mana to perform one st spell before he was out for the count.

"Give up, Young Lord, we were given orders to make your death as painless as possible; we have no reason to kill others," the leader of the assassins decred calmly, his ice-made scythe dripping with Brighton's blood.

'I haven't fully developed this spell yet, but it should buy us more than enough time'

  Eurus' Wrath

An intense tornado suddenly emerged, the sudden intense winds immediately blew away all the assassins aways except the leader; the leader's eyes narrowed.

"He had an advanced tier spell in his back pocket? How troublesome," he muttered as he began channeling his own mana into another spell.

  Ullr's Touch

Just as quickly as Brighton summoned the tornado, everything in the leaders immediate surroundings froze. The tornado that Brighton had summoned previously immediately dispersed as frost quickly began to set in. In less than a minute, the entire area that both Brighton and his soldiers were in along with the assassins was engulfed in ice. The leader had lost a lot of his mana using that spell, but he remained steady as he began walking towards the now unconscious Brighton.

The soldiers, immediately snapping out of their shock, immediately raised their weapons and were about to charge when the tornado that had been dispersed previously suddenly reappeared.

The leader of the assassin's eyes narrowed as he immediately leaped back in order to avoid the attack. Once again, the tornado blocked the assassins' path to Brighton.

The leader of the soldiers snapped out of his awe before ordering his men to take this opportunity to retreat.

"Fuck......this is going to be a headache to report back to Headquarters," the leader of the assassins scratched his head as he sensed the fleeing carriages that carried their main target.

One of the assassins that had been blown away walked up to the leader.

"We can try and retrace their escape path and intercept them right before they get to Halloway," the assassin suggested.

"That's gonna be a negative, what the higher-ups don't tell you is that Halloway has a hundred mile sensitivity barrier. The moment we try to attack them, Halloway is going to notice and they're gonna send some powerful soldiers our way, we won't live long enough to even think about escaping," the leader expined.

The leader was more than aware that they had lost their one and only opportunity to take the second son of the Wenthaiss family out.

"Clean this area up and kill any survivors, we can't afford to leave anymore traces than we already have," the leader ordered.

Soon after, the throats of the surviving soldiers were slit one by one. Then after, the corpses would be burned thoroughly, leaving ash as the only remembrance that the soldiers ever existed.

One of the assassins that was looking around for any survivors stopped in front of a body of a rather young teenage beast-man with bck hair. Part of his hair had been covered in blood, and a small puddle of blood had spread from the boy's head.

However, by some miracle, the assassin could still feel the boys faint breathing.

The assassin immediately turned over the boy's body, and drew out a dagger in order to slit the boy's throat. However, just as he was about to bring the bde to his throat.

  The boy opened his eyes.
