Third Person POV:
In a dark space; far from any inhabitable pnet. Two figures stood as they opposing each other, the air between them was tense. It was clear that they were butting heads over an issue.
"I have warned you and the others countless times that the repercussions of letting the mortals have access to this kind of knowledge would be catastrophic. the number of souls that have reincarnated in purity has been dwindling for the past three thousand years. It won't be long till all the souls lose their purity and join the Demon Lord's corrupted army. You know this more than anyone else," one of the figures said sternly.
"The Demon Lord's power has steadily been increasing over time thanks to this system. Each generation faces more and more trouble subjugating him and killing off the rest of the corrupted ones that followed him. We don't have much of a choice, we can't directly interfere with mortal affairs. You know this more than anyone else," the opposing figure snapped back, equally as stern.
"The Demon Lord has long since found a way to bypass the reincarnation cycle without my interference, I can't fix that situation as it will be seen as breaking the contract that we had established with the God of Chaos. Your allowance of this isn't helping my situation either," the initial figure replied.
"You're the God of Death, figure it out," the opposing figure shrugged as it prepared to leave the space.
"You're right," the God of Death responded, "it is my responsibility to figure it out."
"Good," the God of the Heavens slowly began to leave the space, assuming that their conversation has reached its end.
"However, you're not going to like how I will handle it," the God of Death finished.
The God of the Heavens had already heard what the God of Death had said, but he paid it no heed. As long as he didn't break the contract that he, along with the other gods, had established; he was satisfied, there was no need to pay too much attention to his actions.
The God of Death slowly began to leave the space after watching the God of the Heavens leave. His emotions, unreadable as he slowly drifted to a different area that was in a completely different world compared to the one that he presided over.
Unlike the other gods who enjoyed watching their little mortal pythings wander about and perform great feats on the pnet. He preferred observing different cultures across different worlds in different dimensions. It was a pastime that few gods partook in, for one reason or another, but he enjoyed doing.
Currently, what was peeking his interest was a world that wasn't too far off from the world he presided in was. It was a world where, for some reason, the god/entity that presided over it had taken a rather hands-off approach with its world. However, it had id out various rules for its inhabitants that they were to follow. Moreover, it had also pced two separate entities to hold any mortals who failed to follow these rules accountable; although one of the entities had fallen, completely destroying the system that the entity had established long ago.
The God of Death was currently observing what seemed to be a battle happening between a beast warrior and a human warrior. It was in a temple of sorts that was surrounded with tornadoes and dragons. According to the knowledge of the beast warrior and the human, it was a pce known as Farum Azu, although the pce looked like it was mere seconds from being engulfed by the gigantic tornadoes and crumbling away.
The sounds of bdes cshing rang out as the human and beast warrior increased the intensity of their battle. Eventually, the human ended up getting the better of the beast warrior; as a result, The beast warrior ended up falling to his hands and knees. The human patiently waited for the beast warrior to get up so they could continue the fight. However, things weren't going to pan out how the human was assuming.
The God of Death calmly observed what the beast warrior was doing, his curiosity slowly began to creep up as he watched the beast man slowly turn to his left hand.
Although the beast warrior's face could barely be seen, his voice rang out across the field.
"Oh death, become my bde once more."
The God of Death's eyes widened slightly.
The beast warrior quickly raised his dagger and stabbed it down his left wrist. The sound of gss breaking could be heard as a result. Immediately after a brief moment of silence, a bck aura with red highlights slowly began to emanate from the beast warrior's wrist. The beast warrior slowly began pulling out his dagger from his wrist, and instead of a dagger and blood coming out. A damaged and dark bde was pulled out instead.
The aura that the beast warrior and that bde that he held were emitting was something that the God of Death was all too familiar with.
The human slowly prepared himself for a tough battle, he was clearly able to identify that the real battle had just begun.
Soon enough, the beast warrior lunged at the human and unched a series of attacks at the human. The human in return skillfully dodged them, the God of Death obviously saw the intent of death behind each attack that the beast warrior threw at the human. The two cshed in the middle of the battlefield, creating a shockwave that spread and destroyed the pilrs that surrounded them.
It appeared that the human was stronger than the beast warrior, which the God of Death had found amusing because of the height difference between the two, because the human had somehow managed to push back the beast warrior. The beast warrior in turn used that to propel himself backwards and nd on one of the few standing pilrs, setting himself up to unch himself right back at the human. The beast warrior swiped his bde a few more times, unleashing more sshes that had the power of death behind them right at the human. However, the human continued dodging all of them skillfully and attacking the beast warrior accordingly. The resilience and the patience that the human had was quite admirable, even the God of Death had to admit that there were few people of such character in the world that he presided in.
Eventually, the outcome of the battle was decided.
The human came out the victor in that battle, slowly watching as the beast warrior slowly dissolved into nothing. However, it was what the beast warrior had said before dying that completely captured the God of Death's attention.
"Witless tarnished, why covet Destined Death, to kill what?"
The God of Death found himself quite entertained with both the battle and its outcome, rarely did he see a battle where things were truly at stake. All mortals that lived in the world that he presided over simply knew that they could reincarnate and regain their methods through a certain ritual. It had been started by none other than the God of the Heaven's offspring, a pure-blooded son who united all the races in the world to defeat the Demon Lord. As a result, he would be hailed as the 'Hero', and he would establish a kingdom that would rule over the humans for the next three thousand years. The God of the Heavens was quite pleased with his son.
As a result, the God of the Heavens asked the God of Death to grant his child an opportunity to reincarnate with his memories intact. The God of Death obviously refused with the argument he had just given to the God of the Heavens before. However, the God of the Heavens snuck behind the God of Death's back and managed to replicate what the Demon Lord's ritual to reincarnate with his memory intact. Of course, using the God of Magic's knowledge to modify the ritual so that it would be compatible with the humans.
The son, upon receiving that knowledge, immediately reincarnated and wasted no time reincarnating his loved ones as well. Eventually, due to the passage of time and the nature of humanity, the ritual was leaked to the rest of the world; and after a couple hundred years, all the mortals became aware of the existence of a reincarnation with retained memories.
The God of Death was furious upon hearing what the God of the Heavens had done. It was more than obvious that although the God of the Heavens was also the God of Order, he had his own obvious biases; and the other gods had no qualms with it as well because their descendants had access to the knowledge of that ritual.
Overtime, the fear of death slowly eroded.
The concept of death being an option of whether or not the mortal wished to reincarnate in a new body. It was sacrilege in the eyes of the God of Death, but he didn't have the ability to directly interfere with it because of the prior agreement. Had the mortals seeking reincarnation been going through the cycle of reincarnation that the God of Death had established prior. He would have wasted no time erasing such knowledge from their souls and kept knowledge of it under lock and key.
As what was done was done.
However, as the God of Death watched the human unleash Destined Death. The God of Death saw something that he had been looking for quite some time.
An opportunity.
